Xanthochroid - Winter's Edge

Looking for something similar. Acoustic/classical guitars but dark, maybe experimental, and non-cheesy sounding. Simple vocals of a sort, letting the guitars be the main focus.

That's the right feel. But that guitar is really boring. Like they're just strumming chords, I could have written that guitar part in a few minutes. Something more experimental/technical or something.

I think Vàli is exactly what you're after:

Spoiler: show

I really need to stop bandwhoring myself around here, but still, also check out my neofolk / post-rock / neoclassical project Evæl:

Might be a little too vocal-ridden, but see what you think.

Check out Musk Ox: http://youtu.be/GkcfEAeryqw

Also, October Falls' neofolk stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uZUxsV- ... 2CC29249A6

Edit: Syntek, just checked out that bandcamp song. Great stuff, man!

Sounds like Nocturnal Poisoning would be up your street. It's Scott Conner's post-Xasthur project, primarily focussing on atmospheric acoustic instrumentals (though I think the recent material has singing, I only have the first album).

Edit:

And joining in the self-promotion party, you might just like this little nugget of mine. May be a bit minimal for you though:

Might I interest you in a bit of Wendess?

http://www.lastfm.es/music/Wendess/_/Par+le+Vent

Or maybe this bizarre Serbian group Strevlosh Zvezda, though the vocals are probably a bit too noticeable for your request. Instrumentally they fit the bill I think.

I found them thoroughly unsettling when I first came across them.

Some good stuff posted above. I wanted to mention I'm not really looking for instrumental stuff. I like a little bit of singing in there, it adds interest. Still great music though.

Alas, only digital downloads are available at the moment (feel free to make a donation though :p ) - you can download the whole EP for free on my bandcamp, still.

Oh which reminds me, Nebelung should be close to what you're after:
