Hey guys, I'm searching for low-fi and "dirty" metal/rock with female vocalists.
I'm no expert on the subject so I don't know more adjectives to add to specify it better.
Examplewise I'm thinking of stuff like Yeah Yeah Yeahs's debut, Black Moth or Joyless...

It can be any genre, actually. Anything on that vein? The more low-fi and dirty, y'know with feedback, housemade, tape noises... The better.

Early Nuclear Death is awesome, even their demo's kill!
Nuclear Death - Wake Me When I'm Dead (Demo) (1986) (USA) http://youtu.be/d6a7cbo5IVY
Nuclear Death - Welcome to the Minds of the Morbid (Demo) (1987) (USA) http://youtu.be/iwR_pYNIYMU
Nuclear Death - Vultures Feeding (Demo) (1988) (USA) http://youtu.be/1Co5Nx2oDC8
Nuclear Death - Bride Of Insect (1990) (USA) http://youtu.be/pTJ-0KZUFRg
Nuclear Death - Carrion For Worm (1991) (USA) http://youtu.be/y_GbhVhz9qM

So is Lycanthrophy:
Lycanthrophy - Suffering Mind Split (2009) (Cze) http://youtu.be/U4GoUs9pXsI

You say rock, do you like Hardcore Punk? I've got a lot of female vocalists on those. Think of GASH and Tozibabe. Powerviolence: Rainbow Of Death, Mind of Asian and Romantic Gorilla...

Pussy Riot launched a song, it's kind of simple but I'd buy the album if there ever were any: http://youtu.be/QDRLkofqAv0

Try the first release by Aussie doom band Crone. Pretty rough lo-fi garage-y production with excellent vocals and sweet riffs.

Give Cay a try. Not really lo-fi production-wise, but raw grungy alt-rock like Nirvana and Sonic Youth.

In fact, give Sonic Youth a try too, though the vocals are shared male and female.

Any of the Amesoeurs songs with Audrey doing vocals (only the first two eps are worth it. the first lp is way more clean sounding, but features her on vocals more).

Chealsea Wolfe. Genre wise this jumps from folk, to drone, to post-punk, and whatever else. Some really great songs (the first track of this album is a favorite).

try Heavens to Betsy. then you can try other 90's riot grrl/north west girl bands if you dig it.

If you like super heavy drone check out Angelic Process. shared male/female vocals, but you may like.

Thanks for the recs guys.
Huh.. About the powerviolence and thrashy songs... I was actually looking for clean female vocals.
Also it'd be better if the songs were more too the upbeat side. But it's ok if not it's just.. I don't want veeery slow stuff such as some shoegaze rock.

Heavens to Betsy is what I'm looking for. Best of the recs I'd say.
It'd be good to have more bands like that. Also stoner metal such as the black moth track I posted would be appreciated.

Acid King do indeed fucking kill. And how did I know you'd post that exact song?

Other bands in a similar vein would be Windhand, SubRosa, Witch Mountain, Archon (though the latter are more post-metal).

How about lo-fi black metal with female (lead) vocals? Occasional cleans are fine so long as the blackened shrieks predominate.

Thanks a lot again guys.
Out of the doom ones, I liked Witch Mountain. Of course, SubRosa is superb, but I already knew them =P

And DirtyDoomRiffs, you read my mind here. Jessy Bulbo and true Widow are totally awesome.
