Cognitive's self titled debut is released now through Pathologically Explicit Recordings and it is a solid death metal album that has a bit of everything!

"Though on the outlook, Cognitive looks like yet another modern technical death metal band, their music has that unpredictable character as they weave in and out of different sub genres of death metal. "

Multinational Corporations's EP 'Jamat-al-Maut' has been the record every webzine has been talking about. Ahead of it's CD release through Salute Records, we caught up with the duo behind the music.

"All countries are at the end of the day are businesses with flags to inspire patriotism so they can capitalize on local cultures and identities for the purpose of putting cash in the upper-class pockets. I dream of a world without borders where we can go wherever we want - be it India or some place in South America."

Back in 2012 Insane Prophecy released 'Apogee of an Inquisition'. Ever since then, these lads have been tearing down one venue after the other. We finally found an opportunity to review this EP ahead of their performance at Transcending Obscurity fest!

'Insane Prophecy is one of those bands that know how to make a good mix of black and death metal by utilizing the best of both genres. This is a fact that is well represented in this four track EP.'

Read my album review here:

This is an album that came out at the start of this year and it sounds literally massive. Church of Disgust have released a very good debut on Memento Mori.

"The album could not have been given a more apt title as it acts a perfect descriptor of the music contained within this album."

Check out my full album review of Unworldy Summoning here:

Folk metal addicts, here's a new band for you. Trobar recently released their debut and Metal Gallows writer Arvind R Menon gave it a listen.

"By strong presence I don’t mean that the songs are brutal or gory but that the songs have a strong meaning behind it and in every composition it is more powerful than the next."

Check out his full album review of Charivari here:

With only three days left to go for the much awaited Transcending Obscurity fest, we take a look at a another band in the lineup. This time, it's Mumbai based progressive death metal outfit, Orion

"The riffs, though progressive and slightly unconventional, are written in a way that they stick to one's mind almost spontaneously."

Read my full album review here:

Septuagint is a two man black metal project from Greece who recently released their debut EP, 'Negative Void Trinity'. Metal Gallows writer Mikey gave it a listen

"Although 'Negative Void Trinity' doesn’t take you back to the days of Bathory or Celtic Frost, it does a great job of capturing the early rage of Marduk."

Check out his full Album Review here:

Slow, epic and free flowing. Nothing compares to the crushing beauty of doom metal. So says our Metal Gallows writer V.Srikar as he reviews Landskap's debut release, I.

"Clearly this is a band all doom, stoner and psychedelic fans need to check out as the album has something new and worth the time for everyone and its an EP clocking just under 33 minutes. "

Check out his full album review here:

Fresh from Greece, is the new Punishment 18 Records release, 'Embracing Oblivion' by Chronosphere.

Our in house thrash addict, V.Srikar did a review of the album and he says:

"Blasting fast paced aggressive thrash right from the first song, the band just makes its intentions crystal clear. "

I've been listening to Septekh's album for over a month now. My reivew got delayed due to the website being designed, but finally, here it is.

"Septekh’s music is a mish mash of heavy metal riffs, thrash metal arrogance, a healthy dose of groove and death metal vocal delivery. The music seems to take different forms in different tracks and the songs themselves do not sound similar to one another."

Read my full album review of 'Plan for World Domination' here:

Thrash metal mixed with folk metal and punk elements? The description of Chain of Dogs's brand of metal definitely sounds fresh. They recently released a compilation called 'Burning Bridges in a World of Death' and our folk metal fanatic, Arvind R Menon checked it out.

"With this Album being their fifth release all that can be said is that the band has extreme potential to stand out as a really unique and endearing force to be reckoned with. "

Our first review for an Agonia Records release is Den Saakaldte's 'Kapittel II: Faen i Helvete', by Metal Gallows writer Anurag Iyer.

" 'Kapittel II: Faen I Helvete' proves that proper production in black metal does not always dilute the brutality- in this case it actually enhances it."

Read his full album review here: http://www.metalgallows.com/den-saakaldte-kapittel-ii-faen-helvete-review/

Any death metal fanatic would be aware of NunSlaughter. These guys havent released a full length in about 7 years and 2014 is going to witness the end of that streak as the band is all set to release 'Angelic Dread' on HELLS HEADBANGERS on the 24th of this month.

Metal Gallows writer -Ütakt- seems to love this release as he states in his review: "I’ve listened to the album 10+ times and I’m sure it will end up on my ‘Best Of 2014′ list if I ever make a list like that."

Vintersorg's 9th full length, 'Naturbal' is set to be released on Napalm Records on the 27th of this month.

Metal Gallows writer Arvind Menon says : "The album ‘Naturbål’ by the band Vintersorg is something that can be described as a battle between two polarities of existence. By this I am meaning that this album truly depicts the intense struggle of darkness and light and finally how both coexist as one true entity."

Read his full album review here: http://www.metalgallows.com/vintersorg-naturbal-review/

Anyone wanna hear some new melodic black metal? And NO! I'm not talking about any of that cheesy synth drowned nonsense. I'm talking about Valdrin's new release on Blast Head Records which is actually very good!

"This band actually balances it out quite well with the melody and the abrasiveness. The trick that the band employs here is no matter how much havoc they wreck with their dark, raw riffs and tremolos, they always make sure to hook the song back to a melody that stays with the listener. "

I guess it's safe to say that Dan Swanö has a good taste in music. So when he mixes and produces the debut album for Finnish doom / death metal band Vainaja, expectations are bound to be high.

Metal Gallows writer Armaan reviewed this album and you can check out his review here: http://www.metalgallows.com/vainaja-kadotetut/

The album is out on Svart Records

There is no dearth for bands in India. But in the metal realm, not many bands embrace the Indian culture in their music.

Nigambodh is one exception. One has to listen to their music to hear their unique take on progressive music.

Here's all you need to know about the band:
http://www.metalgallows.com/desi-metal-nigambodh/

Writeup by Shashank Pande.

Nigambodh is a part of the line-up at Outrage Festival India, set to happen on the 13th of next month.

We have a new writer in our midst. After finally getting him to agree to write for Metal Gallows, I asked him which album he wanted to review first. Without a second's thought he said Alice in Chains's latest offering, 'The Devil put Dinosaurs here'.

So without further ado, I present to you, the writing talents of Yash Kasana: http://www.metalgallows.com/alice-chains-devil-put-dinosaurs-review

Every once in a while, all that you need from an album is a sense of fun. What better band to offer fun, than Australia's Super Fun Happy Slide??

The band recently released 'Drop your Pants & Grind' on Blastasfuk Records and it is one of the most fun albums I've listened to all year.

Here is my review of the album: http://www.metalgallows.com/super-fun-happy-slide-drop-pants-grind-review

I've been listening to a lot of death metal in all its forms, old and new. So I did what I naturally do and wrote about them. Here are reviews of new (and old) albums from Misery Index, Rude and Vomiting Corpses :

http://www.metalgallows.com/death-metal-enjoyed-recently-feat-misery-index-rude-vomiting-corpses/

The albums are out on Season of Mist, FDA REKOTZ and Wardead Records respectively.

You may be familiar with Luke Hayhurst from his work at Destructive Music. I'm glad to announce that he is now a part of the writing team here at Metal Gallows too.

For his first review Luke takes a look at 'Our Cult Continues' by Finnish doom mongers Cardinals Folly, about to be released on Shadow Kingdom Records
