Odz Manouk's material on that split is tuned to D#, I think. Playing that song on guitar, I've never had to change my tuning from C# to finish it, so definitely not B. I want to say that "The Esophagus" is tuned to B based on my faint recollection of it, though.

I know your post is a month old, but I still wanted to share this with you since I don't think anybody helped you find anything from what I saw (it was just a quick skim though).

Ephemer is truly great and unheard of raw black metal, and the closest (and rarest) thing that came to mind although the greatness of that Peste Noire demo is entirely unperceived. Anyway, I hope this helps and I'm sorry if it wasn't what you were looking for.

It can be difficult to find bands that are both "punchy" and brutal in this genre that are not Archgoat clones or feature the sort of "buried in reverb" production that kind of dominates the genre, especially with the bands you mentioned(Diocletian and Knelt Rote). Both of those bands are really doing their own thing

Try these:

Plague Widow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AceI1jDGMq8
The drum sound might be a little too "clicky" for you, but Plague Widow are very nasty and punchy. Some what similar to Knelt Rote with the strong Grindcore influence, but with a more modern, Brutal DM tinge. Very Tech-y, but with tons of atmospheric riffs.

Pseudogod- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmcE9BW0c34
This is about the "pinnacle" of brutal, smashing, aggressive Black Death, but they are pretty well known.

Adversarial- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmMVEbO-668
Again, kind of well known but I don't know how "down" you are with this genre. Technical without being in any way "wanky" or "modern." Incredibly savage. One of my favorite bands from the genre.

Heresiarch- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7-diJMQ0CE
Witchrist and Diocletian side project(or at least used to be). Not one of my favorites, but certainly has that speed and brutality.

Thanks for digging so deep for me. Heresiarch's got that militaristic vibe i'm after and decent production. Probably the closest rec. Love that album art too, something I've doodled unintentionally for years now. Don't see the appeal of Psuedogod, completely forgettable. And Plague Widow sounds like Beneath the Massacre trying to be evil. Props to the band for being in Larry David(!).

Thanks again, probably the best I'm going to get.

I'm looking for depressive/atmospheric folk black metal bands. I'd like the folk influence to be obvious, but also not making it upbeat. And the more lenghy songs, the better.
Any good bands on that style? Except for the obvious ones like Drudkh, Fen...
I'm looking more for stuff I haven't heard of.

Have you tried October Falls? Long, melancholy folk/black songs are their specialty.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ9SEpzy0J4

But if you want they typical American stuff there's Falls of Rauros, Panopticon, and Oak Pantheon

Nice song that one.
I already heard Panopticon and heard of the other ones, but haven't check'em yet. I'm gonna check it with more time later.
Thanks a lot.

Doses anyone know of any good post BM like An Autumn for Crippled Children? I am looking for more of that melancholic feeling that their music can deliver.

Hey I recently heard the beginning (more precisely from about 0:20 to 1:00) of this song and am looking for something on the same vein. I mean, very groovy and mid paced, riffy black metal. Too bad the song goes all "blasty" after that and loses the originality.
Anyone knows band playing mostly similar like that short piece I mentioned?

I know some mlancholic post bm bands. Perhaps you can find something of use:
That would be Germ, Sleeping Peonies, Dressed In Streams, or Monde Celeste

Thanks I really like Monde Celeste. Also if anyone else is looking for this type of music check out Cold Body Radiation.

Yes it does. Great raw black metal, and very unique-sounding for the genre.

Pseudogod and Heresiarch are indeed brutal. I should give Adversarial a listen since I love Blasphemy/Conqueror/Revenge.

I have no idea if I should put this here or in progressive thread, but anyway, can you give me something similar to last couple of Enslaved albums?

More old school but you might enjoy:

The most recent album by Code is definitely something most Enslaved fans will enjoy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc123VlRq4w

But in my opinion there's no one that even comes close to recent Enslaved, they have a sound of their own and are completely untouchable.

Definitely not listening to that. BRF are one of my favorite BM bands so I'll experience the album in full when it comes out. Very excited, though!

^^ Love BRF, glad to see they are staying so active. Harvest started out excellent, but a bit too much clean/chanty vocals on the 2nd half of the album threw me off a bit. Just listened to that new song though and

You're nuts, I absolutely adore the shit out of Shu-Ananda's cleans in the second half of the album. I hope the new album is chock full of 'em!

Well I think it was just the last song "The Abyss" Partly because it was kind of slow/weird/boring but the other 3 songs on Harvest are excellent. The new song still has cleaner vocals compared to his earlier indecipherable wailings which I liked, but this is a nice middle ground.

Still love this song, the riff that starts at 4 minutes

Can anybody think of some good 2nd wave (or at least not 1st) that is of medium speed, and has a really well-done voice? I'm starting to run dry in that department.

For Reference:
This is too slow (Deinonychus, The Final...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTT7ErPDy7c

Too Fast (Unlord, Hell's Gates...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RBBzT_Ljtg

Correct speed and voice, but production isn't what I want (Belketre, Night of Sadness)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7xdmmg8Wf0

Hope you guys can help!

^ Oh, I mean one that's generally unintelligible, and isn't too high or low. I'm looking for mediums, here, I guess :P

Think of, say, Nocturno Culto on Transilvanian Hunger

EDIT: and thanks! (Still looking, though)

Hi guys, I'm looking for a German band. I can't remember if they are melodic black or melodic death, but I am almost positive that I remember that their name started with an 'A'. They also had very Lovecraftian lyrics/themes, but even after using the search function I couldn't find them. Hope someone knows who I'm talking about, thanks!

Those guys sound great, but sadly not the band I'm looking for. They had a shorter name -- maybe they weren't from Germany? This is bothering me so hard hahaha
