Wow, all really really good, i especially like the first one (is that a dead fish on the right there). Really like in the last ones you have the the reflections of the trees the sun and then all the fish behind them

Yes, got a shock seeing that on the bank, really big fish and some are even bigger but I only ever catch glimpses of them.

Cool pics Basquestorm and bcs. We rarely get such deep orange sunsets on the coast here, it's too humid.

Thanks, Marag!

Cool fishing places, people!

I was in the oldest mountain of the Basque Country (Peñas de Aya: http://luberri.net/mendi/Aiako_Harria) yesterday. Views from the top:

Thanks. It seems to be little known, even among local residents, that the tundra up here has awesome fall colors. Only for about a week though, in late August and early September.

Boreal, are there no trees in that habitat?

The treeline here is around 2500 feet, large shrubs grow to 3500 feet, alpine meadows to 4500, and then mostly rock and snow. But yeah, in the lowlands we have plenty of trees. Most of them are small and gnarly, growing on poor soils, but we have some "real" forest too with birch and spruce growing 100 feet tall or so.

Damn there are some really awesome pics on here. I will be going to New Zealand next year to visit my sister who lives in Papamoa, but then travel on both islands. Hopefullly I can get some good pics, as here there is nothing to take photos of :(

Damn this looks almost EXACTLY like Patagonia down in southern Argentina and Chile. Love that landscape.
Still have some pics from my trips there I still haven't uploaded, might do that later.

Seeing these pics posted by aussies and nz dudes makes me realize how similar their landscapes are to some areas in south america.

Here is two sunset shots I took while out on the lake fishing. The pics really struggle to show just how dramatic the sky was that evening.

yeah i get that a lot with sunsets, it feels so awesome just to be in the presence of it so you take a pic, and then you get home and check the pics out on the computer and they're average as.
I'm starting to learn what my average camera will actually catch in shot now. Sometimes i look at something cool but know my camera won't do it justice.

Here is a couple of pics for you

I'll throw a few close-ups into the mix from my walking trip around Helsinki earlier this month. I almost never take photos, so I think they came out alright, especially for an old pocket cam.

been a while since I posted anything here. Thought I'd share...

The Ola valley, 45 miles north of Boise

Image

What is this thing? It looks man-made...but it's really some kind of weird iron-silicate mineral deposit, and is naturally formed like this...
Image

Up in the Lemhi Mountains, in southeastern Idaho, facing the Beaverhead range
Image

Some strange petroglyph from the Boise Foothills, most likely American Indian/Paiute origin. Recorded history in my city only goes back to the 1860s, but there was a whole lot that went on before that, about which little is known, save from mysterious stone markings like this one.
Image

Skull Canyon, Beaverhead Mountains. This is the type of place that looks like it ought to be called "Skull Canyon."
Image

Extreme close up of Skull Canyon. What are these pieces of coral doing here? We are at 7000 feet in elevation, and about 700 miles from the ocean. I dunno, geology's weird.
