Overkill - Supersonic Hate (live)

Pretty obscure song, shocked they played it live at any point.

Morbus Chron - Ripening Life

I don't know how they managed to do it, but they may have one-upped Tribulation with this one. For now this is the absolute best 2014 has to offer.

Morgana Lefay - Hollow

Strictly modern, but kick ass power metal. Huge, marching rhythms, cutting riffs, awesome vocals.

Death Division - We Are the Fallen

Tim Yeung drumming for a groove/nu metal/butt rock band. Do I even need to say this sucks?

Oh, and their Facebook page calls Morbid Angel a "thrash/black metal band". So they're stupid too.

Spite Extreme Wing - Vltra

The more I listen to this band's work the more I realize how special their output is. The outside influences and oddball quirks of the music they create are quite subtle, but it all combines together to create a sound that, to me, is truly progressive. Wish I could find more black metal like this, because I've been playing their releases to death.

Excellent band. Unlike any other, and very well put together. Very consistent discography too.

np: Clandestine Blaze - Wings of the Archangel
Makes my absinthe taste even better. Or is it my absinthe that makes this sounds better? Still, good stuff.

Satan's Host - Shades of the Unlight

I cannot get enough of this band. A ridiculous breath of fresh air.

Necrocurse - Grip of the Dead

Save for the comical vocals, this is some good old school Death/Thrash Metal.

Nortt - Galgenfrist.

I think I've finally stopped expecting Nortt to do something, ANYTHING, in his music. When taken as simple ambient you don't focus too much on, it's actually not that bad.

Desolate Shrine - The Sanctum of Human Darkness

A few tracks in on my first listen, this isn't doing a whole lot for me as yet. It's above average, I'd say, but there not a whole lot going on riff/melody-wise that's really grabbing my attention.

The Pretty Reckless - Heaven Knows

What? Amazon recommends this to me because they know I like early Nightwish? Well, I........ suppose both bands have female vocalists. :???:

I'm shadowing you today for some reason. I was listening to Silence earlier and while I love Harkin's style, the keyboard solos on Winterheart's Guild are just on another level. I love the solo in "Victoria's Secret". Whatever key that is that he flutters around it, it works.

Edguy – Until We Rise Again

Yeh the keyboards on WHG are perfect, best use of flowery keyboards i know, it really makes the album sound wintery.

Mantic Ritual - Black for Sin
Too bad this band fizzled away after their first and only album. They would've surely been right up there with the legion of good re-thrash bands. They had a good (and raw) early 'tallica vibe going on.

Wizard - Lost Souls

This is so bad from an objective standpoint, repetitive and sloppy. But it's so enjoyable because of the conviction these guys have. They really believed they were going to make a big metal epic. And to be fair, they kinda did.

Into Eternity - Black Sea Of Agony

It's been years since I've plugged myself into this album. And while I may not enjoy it (nay, worship would be a better word for it) as much as I used too, it's still a great album. Astounding, in comparison with their latest outings. Which is funny, because Stu Block is actually a terrific vocalist, and I think if he had have been on this album, it would still sit in my top ten albums of all time. Unfortunately, it's fallen a bit out of favour. Again, the album is fantastic, it's just that I'm not the teenager who discovered this album for the first time anymore. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, but not when your tastes have so radically evolved.

Satyricon - Nocturnal Flare, from Satyricon

This album is definitely different than what I am used to from them, but I don't necessarily find it a bad thing. Personally not finding this album worthy of all the hate it has received.
