INTRUDER's "Psycho Savant" is an underrated cult classic. I've seen them live twice and they were awesome.

I see Intruder has 3 albums. I'm only familiar with the second two. I'm curious to check out the debut now, never heard anyone mention it.

It's been such a goddamn long time since I heard Intruder's first album, but I do remember it being ridiculously kickass. Ultra-catchy thrash in the vein of L. Rockit.

The first Intruder record is great. It's not as technical as the other two, and it's more in the speed/thrash vein. I remember the vocals being a bit higher and less distinctive than on the other two records. There are a few really cool songs, but "Cover Up" is probably my favourite.

I'm still on the hunt for a copy of "A Higher Form of Killing" if anyone is selling one.

Im back with another request, after the very useful recommendations that you guys made to me.

I am looking for more "modern" sounding Thrash Metal, i mean, stuff like Sanctity or Baptized in Blood. I dont know if you have heard em, Sancity i guess that have a bit of a groove sound on them, and Baptized in Blood can be described as Thrash/Metalcore. Sanctity may have some Metalcore influences, mostly the vocals but i think that is Thrash for the most part. I guess you can throw in Trivium too (The Crusade) wich i like a bit, but not really much.

My bro liked those bands (so do i) and i want to make him a small mix. Here are the bands if you dont know em:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZMIflEGT08
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yMjeoO0i14

Im specially looking for stuff like Sanctity, i really liked their debut Road to Bloodshed, its a shame that they had to split up, i hope they reunite again and record another album.

For good thrash metalcore check Trials (their second album is much better, but I can't find it in the internet).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSEOn3G5zT0&list=SPE97FF6FE039251EA

As for Sanctity, their style is unique and I don't think there are any really similar bands.

Thanks a lot man, im listening to their song "All the promises" and yeah its kind of the stuff im looking for more right now, sounds pretty good. Another band that might fit my description is Dirge Within:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFiuz2mIk9k

But i mean, im not much into Metalcore actually (my brother is more into it) i just like a few albums by some bands, and they tend to be more Metal oriented than "core". What im lookig is stuff that might be Thrash/metalcore but much more Metal and Thrash than Hardcore, and maybe some Groove, also a bit melodic, if possible. It doesnt has to be Metalcore anyway, just modern sounding Thrash, i mean not stuff like Antichrist and Nekromantheon, wich is awesome of course, but its more old school sounding, and my bro is more into modern stuff (we both like old school Thrash anyway, but i listen to it much more than him).

Quote:

Oh well, i thought that it might be like that. Baptized in Blood do sound a bit similar but like i said, more Thrash/metalcore oriented than Thrash. Its a shame about Sanctity, Road to Bloodshed its actually one of my faves of the new wave of Thrash, part of it because its sounds different and modern and there is not much like it.

They do incorporate elements of death metal but I think they'd be enjoyable given what you guys enjoy.

Noisem was touring with Power Trip, I think. That would've been an amazing powerhouse of a show to see live.

Artillery's "Fear Of Tomorrow"?
I'd also suggest Stone's "Free".

Never heard of Antidote and they were surprisingly decent. Sounds like early/mid 90s technical thrash with a slightly heavier production than the usual technical thrash like Watchtower, Realm and Toxik.

Anacrusis - Screams and Whispers is the closest I can think of.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2zT4TCGoDQ

Deppressive Age - Lying in Wait is a bit of a shot in the dark but you may like it.

For epic thrash check out the Immaculate link I put in if you haven't yet. The harmonies in Angelus Apatrida and somewhat Aggression as well which I also mentioned have a slight epic feel.

Some more

Anger as Art. Annihilator anyone?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISwrtCCSy1I

Savage Messiah. Power/thrash that can be quite epic. Excellent stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJrDdHXhsxA

Worwyk. Not sure what you will think of this band. Thrashy power/traditional metal, and quite underrated or unknown in my opinion. Only album I have heard is In Solitude and I enjoy it a lot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrJQmdwuTiI

Not epic but you may enjoy National Suicide. They clearly love Overkill. The best Blitz clone!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZTvdz5448E

Mastery. Technical thrash that is a bit progressive in the songwriting department and purely instrumental on the debut EP. Listening to their album on youtube right now with Billy Milano on vocals and not a fan of the vocals too much as they are too coreish but maybe it will grow on me. I do love the riffing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZW4f59IfZY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KBfIOkU1yU

Shatter Messiah. Power/traditional thrash.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pkRLHtdFgQ

Biomcechanical. This is like a blend of a bunch of stuff. Quite technical and just awesome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzgfoqpxJLg

Really enjoying allot of these! Gives me a great base for combining what I love of Power with what I'm basing my growing taste in Thrash off.

Do you, or anyone ells who cares to reply, have any more good Thrash/Groove metal bands? Out of the big guns of Thrash, Overkill are my absolute favorite band. I also really enjoy Anthrax, Testament (more recent stuff), Exodus and Angelus Apatrida.

Basically Thrash that isn't too streight forward and monotonous. I'm not that fond of Harsh vocals when it comes to Thrash, but as long as the singer is inteligable then I'm fine with it. I'd prefer to find lesser known bands that are active so I can give them much needed awareness and support!

Also if any bands have a good sense of humour in their lyrics, like Gama Bomb, Tankard and Lich King, that would also be awesome. Thanks!

For thrash/groove here are some you may enjoy.

Horrorscope from Poland. Only album I am familiar with is Evoking Demons and it is pretty good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1A_jBOAXUY

Chaosphere also from Poland.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdOum1t4AkA

Virgin Snatch. Another Polish band.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNNHp6aKvvk

Korzus' newer material is very groovy thrash.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFe9kzLDy10

Vendetta. Their album Hate is very modern sounding. Brain Damage is one of my top thrash albums and their comeback album is much more groove oriented.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnGMllnaOKk

Onslaught. Since their reunion they have incorporated a lot of modern influences.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqVKM7O55Lo

Death Angel. Their more recent material like many thrash bands is very groove oriented.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkAxGJbb-SE

And there is always Sepultura as well. Oh and Sadus' comeback album Out for Blood but that is eerily close to nu metal.

For goofy lyrics in thrash then check out these.

Send more Paramedics (zombie thrash)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlEMNp0ubeU

Immaculate (their first album is all names like thrashzilla)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On1uitLwhkk

F.K.U. (Freddy Kreugers Underwear) Yeah the name gives you an idea they are not too serious.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePXTAb95e3Q

Dr. Living Dead. (I believe their album was more serious if I recall correctly but their EPs are really goofy and decent stuff too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DXa8J6Ll0Y

Tankard (If Germany was the big 4, they may take the 4th slot. Basically beer thrash)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4q_zzpQgPA

Cranium (Swedes that are very fast with goofy lyrics)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6bnWrcpWLM

Metalucifer (Goofy Japanese speed metal)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnM4lJ_-qq4

Bonded by Blood (I recall their first album being quite goofy. I know this song, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlfjNTqbFLA

Xentrix covered the Ghostbusters theme.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_kK-q6X9a8

A lot of crossover tends to be quite goofy. Suicidal Tendencies, Municipal Waste, and M.O.D. to name a few.

This question has probably been asked a thousand times already, but I'll ask it again. Any bands similar to Sodom or that have a heavy black metal influence in their music? I'm looking for blackened and gritty sounding thrash. Please and thanks.

My favorite thrash band is Overkill, any recommendations for the Overkill fan? And in general, any fun thrash bands doing things a bit different from the norm, with memorable songs? Thanks. Powermad is another one. I dig Revocation, but they're not quite the direction I'm looking for there for example.

Kreator is one I think. Carcass's latest might scratch that itch also.

National Suicide is pretty much Overkill worship, right down to the vocals.

Witchaven are some blackened thrash you may like.

Nocturnal are really good ifyou don't mind something further on the black metal side.

Corrupt (Aka Corrupted) has a Sodom influence.

12/21 :EDIT:Disabuse I just discovered released an album in '89 and resembles Sodom a lot in places. Definitely check it out.

I've got a shitload.

Minotaur's Power of Darkness: Absolutely raw, gut-wrenching thrash with shades of early black metal. Listen to this if you dig early Sodom and Sepultura.

Aggression's The Full Treatment: A reviewer described this as Canada's answer to Darkness Descends, and he's not far off. I would even go as far as to say it surprasses that album in terms of rawness and intensity.

Holy Moses's Finishing With the Dogs: Teutonic thrash metal simply doesn't get better than this. Take the schizophrenic personality of Vio-Lence and combine it with the relentless thrashing of early Kreator and voila.

Num Skull's Ritually Abused: Another severely overlooked gem. What we have here is a total riff-fest, with the most the feral and caustic vocals I've ever heard on a thrash album.

Protector's A Shedding Of Skin: Pretty much the Beneath the Remains of their discography. A cornucopia of brutal riffs and pounding drums. If anyone wondered why I condemn modern thrash its because of albums like these.

Gammacide's Victims of Science: Heavy, rugged thrash metal that explodes with an intensity that never lets up. What really impresses me is the consistency and flow of this album. This band, Devastation and Rigor Mortis perfectly encapsulates the brilliance that was Texan thrash.

Necrodeath's Into the Macabre: A terrific slab of blackened Italian thrash metal. This album can be extremely chaotic in some parts, but there are also moments of moody, sinister doom.

Insanity's Death After Death: In my opinion the most overlooked death/thrash album ever. Death after Death is a frenetic whirlwind of an album with some of the wildest riffs ever recorded. Mandatory.

Assorted Heap's The Experience of Horror: The germans have an amazing track record when it comes to producing death/thrash. Assorted Heap is no exception. These guys were latecomers in the dissapearing thrash scene but they produced an album that could rival any of the classics.

Epidemic's Decameron: You can tell these guys were fond admirers of bands like Exhorder and Demolition Hammer. Some of these songs sound obscenely brutal, even by thrash metal standards. The production is rather muffled but doesn't detract much from an otherwise classic album.

Sacrificial's Forever Entangled: Quite similiar to Invocator's second album. A monstrously heavy album that's the musical equivalent of experiencing an avalanche.

Ripping Corpse's Dreaming With the Dead: Among the most morbid and unique combinations of death and thrash you're ever likely going to here. There's no other band that sounds like them. Their songs are extremely layered, ambitious and memorable.

I know its a couple years old, but I was skimming through this thread and saw it. Found some new stuff, thanks

Their songs are extremely layered, ambitious and memorable.

here sir, take your medal. found some good tunes there.

Im looking for early Metallica worship especially similar to Kill em All. I know Kill em All was more or less Motorhead worship but it was different, faster, heavier, etc....

So I guess Im looking for stuff like pre-Kill em All and Ride the Lightning....

Try the first two, which are really their best. You could also give Abuser a try, although they sound a bit more like a mix of Whiplash and Testament. Their one and only album is pretty good though.

First three albums and then Thrashback. Whiplash is prime speed/thrash with a rock'n roll tinge.

Anyone here a fan of Necrodeath? Just heard their first two albums so far but I'm already starting to appreciate their debut quite a bit. Seems like proto black/thrash metal to me with riffs that remind me of early Slayer and Pleasure to Kill era Kreator.

I think we have a winner right there..... :) Goddamn just saw that they only had one release.

OK, now for another one.....

Megadeths Killing is my....Daves vocals were so full of hate and venom back then and I loved it, also the raw production added to the overall evil atmosphere. Anything else like it?
