Infernal Hails.

Metal Gallows is my zine which I have been running for little over a year now. We do reviews and interviews of underground bands that deserve exposure and occasionally, we also focus our attention towards the big releases.

We will be moving to an independent domain in a month's time. But for now, Metal Gallows can be found at: http://metalgallows.blogspot.com

For RSS users, here is the link to subscribe to the Metal Gallows feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/yBUuW

Watch this space for more updates. Cheers.

Bandcamp is a page with many hidden gems. Rintrah is a band I found on the site today and I feel that this was a reward for all the shit I tried before finding this one.

This band has recently released it's debut album and it is masterclass. If you want good music that will give you a trip to remember, look no further.

Check out my album review for this awesome album here:

It is quite rare to find a split that is completely enjoyable. This is one such rare occasion, where both Vestal Claret and Albatross deliver a thoroughly enjoyable release.

Check out my album review is the split between these two very talented bands here:
http://metalgallows.blogspot.com/2014/01/albatross-vestal-claret-kissing-flies.html

Albatross will be playing at Thrashfest sponsored by Transcending Obscurity!!

RSVP Here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1406170862943942/

Be sure to be there. Or the flies will get you!!

Any instrumental metal fans around? If you are one, do not miss the chance to check out Skies Are Illusionists a.k.a Cris Kailer.

They released a two track EP on Contorted Records & Artist Management last year and I did an album review of it, which can be found here:

http://metalgallows.blogspot.com/2014/01/cris-kailer-skies-are-illusionists.html

The link also contains a bandcamp streamer, where you can download the EP for FREE. Do check it out.

Recently, our writer Anurag Iyer conducted an interview with the infamous Dr.Hex of Albatross

This is perhaps the most fun interview we have had the pleasure of publishing.

"If anyone reading this doesn’t want to catch Albatross because we’re not their definition of ‘actinglikeamaniacwhiplash’ thrash, I’d recommend Akshay Bar across the street, or if they’re feeling affluent, Sheetal Grill right next door. Their starters are excellent."

Read the conversation here:

With only three days left before Thrashfest sponsored by Transcending Obscurity, our writer Anurag Iyer talks to the powerhouse from Pune, that go by the name of Halahkuh!!!

"In short, expect surprises in all the upcoming tracks. That doesn't mean we'll be incorporating blues in all of them. Things have elevated to a new level altogether in the Halahkuh camp. We'll surely be playing something new at Thrashfest. So watch out for that!"

Read the rest of the conversation here: http://metalgallows.blogspot.in/2014/02/interview-with-halahkuh.html

Our writer, Nemo Job talked to the southern most representative in the line up of Thrashfest!

"Back in the day, we didn’t really care about what’s popular or influential. We had a clear vision about what we’re trying to achieve as a band. So, the fact that the kind of music that we’re into was not that popular didn’t really come into the equation."

Check out the entire conversation with Chaos here:

We finish off our Thrashfest coverage with the most diverse band in the entire lineup, SystemHouse 33.

Check out my album review of a band that dares to experiment within a genre, where most people dont.

If you are one of those guys who thinks grunge is dead, have I got some news for you! Inner Temple from Philadelphia (yes. They are NOT from Seattle, surprisingly.) are taking the genre forward which was thought to be long dead.

They are signed on to Contorted Records & Artist Management. Check them out.

Check out Mikey Seweyestewa's review of their debut EP here:

Our newest addition to the writing squad V.Srikar has his say over LachrymAnopsia's latest EP, 'Released'.

"Now this is a album mostly for alternative metal fans and this being the first release from this Quebec, Montreal based band it's going to be interesting to see how these guys pan out in the next few years "

Introducing Entartung. You might not have heard of them. Rectify that and pick up a copy of their new album when it comes out in March on World Terror Committee!

Their promo states "ENTARTUNG is the anti-thesis of the values that have come to dominate the black metal scene today. The individuals behind ENTARTUNG despise the nearly proselytizing attitude of many bands, constantly lowering the threshold in order to be deemed acceptable and even attractive by people who are unworthy of attention in the first place."

And I cant agree more. Check out my album review of their sophomore record here:

So, last weekend, Obliteration [Official] and Nekromantheon [Official]destroyed Bangalore and Delhi as a part of the inaugural edition of INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL INDIA.

Metal Gallows writer, Vallabhaneni Srikar was on location at Bangalore to witness the carnage.

"If you were a lazy bugger, who sat in some couch in Bangalore, watching Ekta Kappoor serials, you will never know the true essence of being a metalhead, especially when you might have spent that 500 easily in a restaurant."

Read his full gig review here:

Our writer Arvind takes a trip back to the savage lands of the 80's as he reviews IRON DOGS's second full length 'Free and Wild' on Iron Bonehead Productions

"The album portrays how savage, free and untamed music can be and still sound deadly and accurate."

Whispered has been getting a lot of attention recently. Our in-house writer with a thing for everything Japanese, Arvind Menon took a look the band's sophomore effort, 'Shogunate Macabre'.

'This was one of the most enjoyable albums I have had a chance to listen to and would definitely be one of the best melodic death metal band's that I've listened to in a long while.'

Introducing MANTAR. This two man sludge metal band from Germany, recently released their debut album, 'Death by Burning' through Svart Records.

"The sound of Mantar might be described as a darker and more serious version of (the) Melvins, with a good helping of Motorhead’s punk elements thrown in. "

Mephisto Exilia Inrage, who you might know from webzines like Metalhead Spotted, Metaljesus Magazaine and Two Guys Metal Reviews, joins the writing team here at Metal Gallows.

For her debut, she reviewed Solstice-Englander's 'Death's Crown is Victory', an epic doom metal band from the UK!

'Solstice is one of those bands which is influenced by old school doom metal and sounds like it wants to ravage you to the point where you want to hear them more.'

Check out her full album review here:

Hey thrash freaks! Put on your denim and leather! Grab a beer and get ready to mosh! Battery is here with a brand new album! And these kids know how to get it right!

"This album would fit comfortably amongst any of the thrash albums released in the later part of the 1980’s. Everything about this record reeks with the old school flavour."

Check out my full album review of 'Armed with Rage' here:

Diabolus Arcanium recently released their debut, making them the first black metal band to do so from the state of Tamil Nadu.

Our writer Shivam reviewed it. He says "Being a black metal band from India must make it really hard for them to stand strong, as India is not a country that can take even a little bit of occult, satanism or antichrist behaviour."

Go read his full review of "Spellbound" here:

Check out Brood Of Hatred's debut, Skinless Agony which is out on Crime Records As.

Remember the good ol' 90s when black metal was the most vicious and darkest thing to happen to metal? Sammath is a trio that reminds one of those times.

"The music is devoid of any melody and an apt description of the song writing would be that it sounds absolutely savage and unholy."

Are you one of those people who, like me, has completely given up on thrash metal? Then stop right now and check out Metal Gallows writer, Mikey's review of Harlott's new release.

"I wasn’t sure what to make of the mid-eastern sounding chords had come as a surprise, leading into a song I can only describe as truly unique and as it began to gain pace and progression, I found myself surprised at the amount of gambling the band had done. I have never heard anything that resembles this at all. "

Intrigued? Read his full album review of 'Origin' here:

According to me, music has to take the listener on a trip. If you feel the same way, Sabbath Assembly (official) is the band for you.

Metal Gallows writer, Arvind took a look at the band's new album and he says "The eerie acoustic folk presence feels as if you’d been taken on a dreamlike journey into your own mind while you’re helpless to where your mind may wander as you listen to this album."

Read his full album review here: http://metalgallows.blogspot.in/2014/03/sabbath-assembly-quaternity-review.html

Men painted in black, covered in green goo? Surely they must be joke! But they are not a joke! Bookakee is one of the best progressive death metal bands I've heard in recent times!!

"The music starts out like a typical brutal death metal sound track with heavy guitars and deep gutturals. Everything that follows, is nothing but atypical."

Read my full album review here: http://metalgallows.blogspot.in/2014/03/bookakee-whorrific-album-review.html

Punk is not dead. Infact, here is a band that seems to be very angry at being oppressed! Multinational Corporations from Pakistan have released a solid album in Jamat-al-Maut.

' Physics states that, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. And the magnitude of that reaction is proportional to the magnitude of the action that instigated it. The same principle applies to this band, where the oppression in Pakistan is the action and the angst and anger that this band vents in the form of their music, is the reaction.'

Modern death metal with a blackened edge and lots of catchy breakdowns. Sounds good? I am talking about Hiss From The Moat.

"Many may categorize this band and album as yet another deathcore release, for the mere reason that there quite a few breakdowns employed. Breakdowns apart, this is a good mix of modern death metal with a blackened atmosphere. "

Gross + Nasty = Grossty. This should be enough to give you an idea about this Bangalore based grind band.

As these lads get set to wreak havoc at Transcending Obscurity Fest, our writer Burmakutti (Armaan Rm) spoke to them and the lads were more than vivid in the description of their thoughts.

What do I say about Grossty? They're bloody fun!! That's all there is to it.

"All in all, this is an album that gets as random as possible. Is it too random to make it unlistenable and unlikeable? Not at all."
