because it's 'shocking' the only goregrind band that sounds like normal goregrind that I like is Intense Hammer Rage.

Thanks! Checking them out now. And what is it with so many goregrind bands being obsessed with turds and assholes? It's goregrind not shitgrind haha.

Haha, yes, there are very many Goregrind-bands singing about that kind of thing (Pornogrind), but if you want goregrind-bands that don't sing about porn, you can check out rancid flesh, pulmonary fibrosis, mincing fury and guttural clamour of queer decay, hyperemesis, blasted pancreas, bowel fetus, and if you don't already know them, haemorrhage, dead infection and autophagia.

Yeah I already know of them. Well anyway, how about a more broader request then? Rec me any recent notable deathgrind bands.

Requests that broad are a bit frowned on :-D You did it right the first time, just need to be a little patient hehe.

Check these bad jammers out:

Gruesome Stuff Relish - This is their newest record, if you dig it def look into their back catalog.

Splatterhouse - My personal favorite of the Carcass/Exhumed clones. Their only full album before splitting unfortunately. They do have a demo and a couple splits worth tracking down as well.

Fondlecorpse

Frightmare - Not a straight Carcass/Exhumed clone but super rad and incorporates some of the melodic leads like those mentioned

Mangled - Newer band who kill it. Underground deathgrind all the way
http://borisrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sewer-metal-7

If you know Ghoul I'll go ahead and assume you know about Impaled, General Surgery, and The County Medical Examiners but if any of those aren't familiar then def take a look.

On a different note, I've been jamming this album a ton lately after being reminded of it by a friend's blog and it occurred to me that I hadn't seen it mentioned in here. Totally killer and essential listening.

Any other grindcore bands as "emotionally charged" as Cloud Rat? It's one of the aspects I find separates them from other grind artists, and they've been my favourite for a year solid.

Hmmm... I think Cloud Rat is able to pull that off by kinda flirting on the edge of grindcore a lot. Some slower dissonant kinda passages in there verging on sludge or like post-rock (i don't know how to use that term) with a fair amount of melody and also a pretty heavy dose of powerviolence which I think portrays a lot more emotion than most grind. I can't think of shit as far as straight up grindcore goes but maybe something like Punch? Rapturous Grief kinda gives me that vibe too so I'll link them. I'm gonna say Despise You as well just because the fucking venom and animosity is dripping from those records though they're almost certainly already known to you.

Punch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8H8_7xTm28

Rapturous Grief - http://rapturousgrief.bandcamp.com/albu ... us-grief-7

Despise You - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtgJm7sK1tI

edit* You might also try some of the other stuff on Halo of Flies. He tends to release stuff that kinda has a "hardcore" edge to it which may appeal to you since you like Cloud Rat. Not my taste for the most part so I can't really rec anything specific from there but worth a look.

On a different note, got turned on to these dudes. Self described as gore grinding bolt throwing annihilation... which is exactly what you get.

I love/hate that vibe because I had a plan to do something with that aesthetic. This actually is making me want to dig up all my old Mechwarrior/Armored Core/Front Mission games, good call!

Dude! Front Mission 3 got MAAAAAAAAD play on PS1 in my house. Right when XBOX Live first came out and they had that Mechwarrior game me and my buddies used to eat mushrooms and stay up all night playing that shit online and terrorizing the fuck out of whoever ended up in a match with us. The only time I can think of that I've actually pissed my pants from laughing so hard... though I couldn't tell you what I was laughing about now :-D

Hell yeah dude! Front Mission 3 was definitely the one I had in mind too, I have that disc somewhere in my pile of crap at the house. Mechwarrior is the shit, I think I have that particular MW game but for the PC. Never got to combine mech slaughter and 'shrooms though, sounds like it was a blast.

Hahaha it was a trip... pun intended! I'm sure there were kids that just thought we were fucking out of our minds, we all had headsets so we'd just be ranting and raving like a bunch of lunatics and laughing like idiots while we blasted the shit out of everyone. Have Slayer or Bad Brains or Napalm Death cranked loud as fuck and just sit one of the headsets next to it haha, we were assholes.

Warfair's great, could do without some of the gurgles but it's so damn urgent and love the sound.

Armored core pissed the hell out of me as a kid because it reaffirmed that having no money sucked; I wasn't very good at it either.

Super excited about dxyx they were great here a couple of years ago. kinda wish it was more of a shithole venue, but whatever. definitely looking to lose some teeth at that show.

As terrible as it sounds, Horrified is actually a great album, it's crap quality, but really addictive :headbang:

It has the perfect production for that album, there isn't a single thing I would change about it.

I am glad that you enjoy it though, it's basically the best grindcore album of all time.

I'm looking for albums very similar in style/sound/aesthetics to "From Enslavement to Obliteration" by Napalm Death. I'm not just looking for grindcore, but I want a band/album that has a similar production style as well as vocals and tuning. Obivously the second half of Scum is very similar, and there are some stirking similarities to Terrorizer's "World Downfall". What else do people got, this is such a highly regarded album that there must be clone bands like all of the early Carcass clones that sound exactly like Reek/Symphonies era Carcass.

Why do so many people say Horrified sounds bad?

I've only heard that complaint in recent years, but it's suddenly mentioned in every discussion I hear about that album. It doesn't sound "bad" unless you've been raised on late 90's+ Relapse Records production and think "good" means everything unnaturally crystaline and loud as fuck.

Anyway, I've only skimmed this page, but since a bunch of people said "WARSORE" to something, I'm gonna do it too.
They were pretty awesome for only having recorded a couple fistfuls of songs.

You might like some early Agathocles stuff. I think the split LP with Drudge is an excellent rendering of the only, like, 5 songs they know!:

I really like the production on it. I guess it helps that this was my introduction to AG, but I just love the way everything sounds anyway.

Anyone else getting hyped about the new Gridlink album? New track sounds great.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33ZprczVr_k

And Horrified is a great album, and I had a great time seeing Repulsion last year. It's a classic!

Hmm, maybe I've just grown outta gridlink but this sounds a little too Transiberian orchestra for me. I think I'm just in the wrong mood as all I've been listening to is Jerry's Kids and Darkthrone. Still love the band though

I still call Horrified crap quality, but that's also the reason I like it so much, it's supposed to sound like that, makes it a classic, and in better quality it'd probably sound like shit, but still, the drums are barely hearable at times, and the bass is just annoying...

You can call it crap quality and we can still call you one of those nujacks raised on pig destroyer... I guess it goes both ways.

I heard some of that new Gridlink. I like it, I'll buy it. But I'm not salivating at the mouth to do so.

my grind/PV bands decided to release a split together so that came out a week ago:

This is Dragunov's side and Kamikaze Pilot's side is linked at the end of the list of songs

Digging this! My only criticism would be the way the hi-hat kinda jumps up on top of the mix sometimes (the thrashy parts in Nest of Vipers would be a good example). Seems like the rest is all mixed in nicely, crashes sound good and the ride has a nice pinging sound to it, but the way that hi-hat kinda jumps up to the front is doing the rest a bit of a disservice. Not sure how you record (i know you do it all yourself) so not sure if you're mic-ing the hi-hat individually to where you can adjust it's level without changing something else... just a thought.

Of all your stuff I've checked out I def think this is the best, well done sir.
