Now it's you who's misreading me. :p I was just pointing out that Rosetta isn't metal, didn't even go as far as the "to sludge or not to sludge" question. Which coincidently I tend to avoid because I already know what you mentioned before, they have sludge elements but are much more than EHG or Crowbar. I'm actually knowledgeable about that separation, and as I said, I wasn't even going that way.

This whole thing started because I though you were calling Rosetta "post-metal"! Ha, this is beyond funny now. :D

I'm looking for some new stoner doom bands! Some of my favorites right now are Toner Low, Tombstones, Windhand, Suma, Bongripper, (new) The Wounded Kings, Witchsorrow, (new) Moss, Lumbar (not a Yob fan though...), Conan, Moon Coven (more stoner rock, I guess).

I like the music to have SUPER fuzzy guitars (like Toner Low, Windhand, and Tombstones), I like the music to be pretty slow, although some faster pace parts are okay, I like the vocals to be somewhat buried and not super epic sounding (I don't care if it's male or female), and I like it to be overall heavy as fuck.

Lord Of Doubt, Beëlzebong, Камни (Kamni), Dead Meadow, Elder, The Cosmic Dead for starters

Mist's demo slays. So short but so damn good. Reminds me of Pentagram and especially the second track "The Living Dead" has some hard hitting riffs in the Victor Griffin tradition. Love it! I hope they get an invitation to play at Muskelrock festival next year. Would see.

Thanks for the recommendations! I already knew about Belzebong, and I love them. Dead Meadow was fucking awesome! They really had the fuzzy sound I was looking for! Not the heaviest, but it got my head to nod the whole time! Elder was a band that I saw them in the archives before, and just passed over them. Super Enjoyable!

I did find some gems while doing my search though and thought I might shoot them your way, just in case you didn't know about them:

Lord of the Grave

Dopelord

Can anyone fire a few malaise-laden, narcotic or even down-right-depressive stoner-doom bands at me? I've been listening to "Crooked Spine" from Cough's Ritual Abuse, and it's given me a heck of a taste for stoner-doom with a miserable and nihilistic feel. Extra points for similarly wailing vocals to the song mentioned!

Gotta jump in and second Sigiriya. I know they're just basically raw Kyuss worship, but they do it so goddamned well. Can't wait for the second album, which should be out soon.

Looking for a band like Year of no Light: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHf7TimSfrM
or like This Will Destroy You song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SERfdjtGjJA
Preferably instrumental with that doom & dark, oppressive atmosphere in their music.

I already know about Pelican

Anyone knows stoner black metal bands like Oranssi Pazuzu's last album?
No need to be black, just harsh vocals are ok.

But both bands aren't doom. Anyway, check out Windhand.

Like that but with more doom:
Jex Thoth
Witch Mountain
Second Grave
Mansion

Like that but with less doom:
Purson
Jess and the Ancient Ones
Royal Thunder

Doom that is not like that:
Windhand (stoner/doom)
SubRosa(sludge/doom)
The River (melodic doom)
The Slow Death (death/doom/gothic(?))

I'm not gonna lie, these bands sound nothing like those two bands, but nonetheless, they are great female fronted doom bands (at least Dark Castle used to be...):

I would like to hear some traditional and/or epic doom metal with melodic vocals. I want to hear singing that isn't melodramatic or overbearing in the manner that seems to be common in this style of music (*ahem* Candlemass). Particularly, I want vocals that sound more depressive and solemn. It'd be great if they were deep vocals, but they can be more mid-range as long as they aren't obnoxious. I don't care whether the vocals are male or female, though I would prefer we stay away from the Doom/Psychedelic Rock that seems to be becoming oh so trendy in these recent years. Bands like Warning and Pallbearer are good, but not what I'm looking for.

Also, the bigger discography of the band, the better.

Here are some examples of what I'm looking for:

Are you acquainted with Fall of the Idols?

or Griftegard?

Mother of God. Not exactly trad doom but one of my favourite albums of this year. Very Alice in Chains-esque.

Gallow God. Another favourite of this year.

I'm not looking for fast passages in Doom songs, I'm looking for a typical doom song (guitar and vocal wise) with fast drumming (techincal or not, does not really matter).
As this request fits on both Doom thread, I will duplicate this one there.
If you are going to aswer in this thread, please keep the recs within sludge/stoner and trad doom

Answering my own request:
Baroness - Wailing Wintry Wind (from the [2007] Red Album)

Well, tough it's debatable if this one is actually Doom metal (Stoner Metal actually, as several people say this is Progressive Stoner ROCK), the drumming is pretty fast, and the guitars pretty slow.

This is going to sound stupefying, but are there any doom metal bands that don't sound inspired by Black Sabbath but aren't extreme metal outright (I don't consider most trad/epic/stoner doom "extreme" by a long shot)? They take more of an Iron Maiden or general NWOBHM influence than anything, like Pagan Altar and their only ties to Sabbath is their slower tempos.

You don't think Pagan Altar sound almost exactly like Sabbath, just exaggerated in every aspect?

Probably Pentagram, but I not only agree with Jonpo, but I also think that the request is (for lack of a better word) terrible.

The closest thing I can think of to the request would probably be Lunar Womb by The Obsessed. Of course there's still Sabbath influence but I don't think it's nearly as prominent as something like Pagan Altar or Cathedral. They've got a lot of up-tempo (for doom) rocking numbers.
