It's the Internet. I did enjoy how open they were with their bigotry. You don't normally see that level of ignorance so broadly displayed here.

That fallot dude from his other posts already looked to be a raging cock, but the posts of his in that thread pushed him far over the cliff into the realm of "living, breathing piece of valueless animal shit".

He's just trying to get a rise out of folks. Their philosophy holds that if they tweak their messaging in time their trolling will convince people that their ideas are true.

Considering some of his posts from before that thread got him presumably kicked off the site, I've got a hankering that he's bitterman in disguise.

Maybe, but they've got pretty good messaging discipline. The same guys come back over and over, but it is more than one guy who are willing to follow their party line down to advocating the exact same bands and albums.

...wait. How is pretending to be sexist in an annoying manner supposed to advocate or promote anything? I'm not saying he isn't trolling, but I never got the appeal of pretending to be racist/stupid/ignorant/etc. in order to get a rise out of people. "haw haw, these people sure are goofy for thinking I'm a racist just because I called everyone racial slurs~!"

The idea is that it will get you thinking about the absurdity of equality and democracy and race mixing and once you've admitted the possibility you may ultimately come to their conclusions. Does it work? I don't think so, but it is what they are going with.

That is, they aren't pretending to hold those views, they are expressing the views they have in a trollish way which they believe has svengali-like powers to influence peoples' thinking.

I kinda figured that, but a part of me was hoping for something less stupid.

Honestly am surprised at the amount of people who think thrash bands that has a slow part or slow song means they are a hybrd thrash/doom band. Same with doom bands that has a single uptempo part of song. Somehow that means it's a doom/thrash band. Wrong, wrong forever.

He hangs out at deathmetal.org. Might even be one of the blog authors (or at the least one of their minions). No surprises there.

I think he was referring just to the song though. But yeah, calling Seasons in the Abyss that is still wrong on all accounts.

Context plz. Based on the conversation here, who the hell is saying Seasons in the Abyss is doom? I could see an argument for South of Heaven (although they'd be wrong), but Seasons?

Was checking the recent reviews and it appears that The Flower Travellin' Band is back on the archives. :hyper:
Satori is a damn masterpiece, it's crazy that it came out in 1971.

So as of last weekend I can knock drinking in a church off my bucket list.

I did a lot of archive digging to find Abominatrix's review of that because it was great, and he no longer had a copy. Glad to see it back up.

Just out of curiosity, do you know the reason the band was deleted and later put back up?

Locking that "describe a band with a single word" thread was practically criminal. I've waited a long time for an opportunity to use the words "opalescent", "quixotic", and "yogurt-lumpy".

Look on the bright side, it being locked gave you the chance to use all three in the same sentence. That's got to be a once-in-a-lifetime type of thing.

Nirvana's MTV Unplugged is 20 years old today. It's one of my most important albums of all time, I think I'll watch the DVD tonight.

It's brilliant, not least because it led to me discovering the Meat Puppets! I haven't heard too much of their stuff so far, but so far it's all been great. There are lots of other good MTV Unplugged sets kicking around on youtube: the Pearl Jam one is particularly good.

Yeah, it's great. Love how they brought the songs into another context and covered a lot of stuff and did b-sides instead of playing all the hits from Nevermind everyone was expecting.

I used to listen to the CD pretty often, cool to see some others like it as much as I do.

The Pearl Jam one is alright. The Alice in Chains one is really, really good, though.

in the rec forum. there is a thread calling for an odd mix of different genres. and thrash/doom is one of them. And thus far it's been a sad sack of shit with the suggestions cause it's just meshable. It's mainly been a doom band with a fast part or a thrash band with a slow part or song. It's pretty obvious most of these people think in the context of fast= thrash slow = doom automatically

I have that CD in my car. I shouldn't say that around here, oh well. 20th anniversary of Kurt's death is coming up too, wonder if we'll hear anything about it when it comes.

I'm quite excited, I finally put the debut EP for my ambient/drone project Impercepticum up on Bandcamp. Give it a listen if you're so inclined, but I definitely recommend listening to an mp3 version of the track instead of just streaming it. The streamed audio is badly compressed.
