Wow, so fast reaction on mod's words repeating. But there was no reaction on what that users wrote. And there are so many staffers... Whatever, you can do here what you want, I forgot that mods = gods.

I'm listening to new Protest the Hero album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppwWGTgGMMQ
it there's barely any trace of metalcore (thought I've gone through two tracks only so far, but it seems unlikely things will drastically change).

It sounds like prog-power metal. Looks like it's the time to add them to the site.

metalbunny: Please provide more samples of the music. The physical release checks out but it was rejected because we need to hear more of the music to verify that it is metal.

Prog power metal?!?!?!

This isn't power metal!

I'm ~20 minutes in and this is predominantly progressive post-hardcore/mathcore with a bit of metalcore in there. There's one song with a metal riff or two but this isn't even close to prog/power metal.

WHAT!? Another person claiming this!? Do you EVEN KNOW what prog/power is!? Go listen to "Temple of Shadows", by Angra, and THEN think about your claims.

Why is Conjuración Repugnante (black metal/noise from the Netherlands) black-listed?

They are passibly metal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npSgy_lvNmk
and have legitimate distribution:

Baratheon from the United States was rejected for not having a valid release, though a full ep was released for download the day before the submission at http://baratheon.bandcamp.com/ for streaming and download.

Your submission had no links to this bandcamp page and the Facebook link didn't work. More effort from you would had been appreciated. I restored the submission.

Nice name by the way, watch out if you go hunt wild pigs.

Blacklisting ORBWEAVER is just plain silly. It's not math or deathcore in the least bit. I think that decision is capricious and arbitrary.

Anyways, here's my review of the EP over at METAL BANDCAMP. Apparently those posers over there were hoodwinded into thinking it was metal "enough" :)

Orbweaver is mathcore/deathcore with a lot of blast beast. I don't hear any metal riffs in that song. If the other songs are different than that one - metal riffing rather than dissonant screeching riffs borrowed from The Dillinger Escape Plan with more chugging - share them and we can evaluate that. The band needs one release that is predominantly metal.

Germ is post-punk with screaming. Not metal.

A Call to Deceiver were rejected for being too much core than metal. I'm still listening to various songs and I don't see so much difference from other deathcore bands here in riffing and sound.

I also read Oceano were rejected: I know this has been talked before, and I personally completely dislike this annoying and boring band, but I don't see a clear reason why they aren't accepted here while other identical morons like them are here, for their classification. Maybe riffs? Some of their songs have death metal riffing and blast beats. I think they should being accepted here and maybe to get them bad reviews. But this is just my opinion, moderators can freely say whatever they want.

Funny how all the people in the band loathe that type of stuff. I totally disagree with you on your assumption as well. Listen to the entire EP that I linked in my review for further clarification. :)

The band Vortex from Croatia is blacklisted (since 2010 I think) because they dont have valid physical release.
They released a demo digitally. This recording is about 30 minutes long and has very good production (recorded in Osijek in the Studio of Eldar from the band WAR-HEAD). "Thrash is alive" is consisted of 8 songs, all original (no covers).

here is the demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfwzKP8jITg
information about the demo: http://rocktorrents.ucoz.org/load/metal ... o/19-1-0-3

They spreded the link all over the internet at that time. Vortex splited-up in meantime.

Probably been answered before but why isn't Tombs on Metal-archives? I mean they have a post- feel to them but I totally think they are a metal band. Unless someone just hasn't added them...

Tombs are currently blacklisted but I can't seem to find out why they were added to the blacklist. I will investigate (and re-listen to their debut while I'm at it, since it's been a while).

EDIT: It was decided back around when the sophomore album came out that it was about 50/50 borderline stuff, but because the debut was even less metallic that the band would stay on the blacklist until they released something that was clearly predominantly metal.

Just out of curiosity, would it be okay to submit Mutation, a new project featuring Shane Embury from Napalm Death under the side-project rule? It's not HIS side project, nor anyone's in particular, but I was just wondering if they would fit here. The album is released on Ipecac (Mike Patton's label), and you can stream one track from it here.

So I wanted to bring up Barnabas from the US. Can they be re-evaluated? I searched the forum, and came back with an exchange where a user brought them up in 09, but the answer to that inquiry was a mod's restating that they were not metal based off of re-listening to one album in their discography.

Well you're obviously getting something wrong here.

I didn't told you to try out bandcamp. I just explained to you that a digital release can be valid if it's available for full download (for example on sites like bandcamp) BUT it also has to be long enough, preferably a full-length.
Aether's EPs are just too short to be accepted based on digital distribution only.
Please re-read the rules on that topic. You got this explained several times even in different languages. If you still don't get it I can't help it.

Makes sense. Great band regardless. I know they are writing some new stuff so hopefully they will have more metal influence and maybe some longer songs.

Hello and good day, I am posting to get our ban removed and to get us listed here on Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives!

Okay where do I start, we are a Metal band from Chicago (there was a couple bands who have stolen our name so that might be part of the problem? not sure)

We do have a physical release and are about to go back into the studio
The first release called EVOLVE is on CD (very high end job custom recycled cardboard 4 panel sleeve with a 12 page booklet including artwork for each song and the words to each.

you can buy it many places here are two
our Official Store: http://www.shopbenchmark.com/ofwolves
and our bandcamp page http://ofwolves.bandcamp.com/album/evolve

here is the first video form our album (filmed shortly after Steve (guitars/vox) bled out and died on his bike, of course he lived but had emergency surgery
Spoiler: show
and had 60 staples from groin to chest and still played a gig with em in....

SONG SAMPLES here are a couple recommended songs (from reviewers)
http://ofwolves.bandcamp.com/track/red-skins
http://www.reverbnation.com/ofwolves/so ... stinky-mix

Here it is digital (we have made it free for you to download and check it out if you wish
the download page is here http://ofwolves.bandcamp.com
you can buy additional merch at both locations

We have also had many reviews that explain who we are and what we do

here are a couple
(excerpts from our Sludgelord review, an interview is coming any day now)

Well here is a loud and pissed off album if I have ever heard one. It's probably the most schizophrenic album I have listened to in a long while now. It's a band very hard to describe. Thrash, Stoner, Sludge without staying into one overall territory. I used to listen to Evolve when I was in a rotten mood. It was the perfect marriage made in hell. Pissed off Sludgelord against these thrashy upstarts.
The riffs come thick and fast and go straight for the kill. They have a playful energy to them. The whole album is over and done with under 29 mins or so. But its an exhilarating rush that feels like a massive kick to the head.

This is a stellar debut album. Absolutely batshit insane, but somehow extremely fluid and focused at the same time. Therapy it is!
I particularly like the way it shifts from that carnage filled grindcore song to that weird folky part. I don’t know why my brain isn’t reacting more dramatically to this… how is this normal? The brain abides man.

It's all done in the best possible DIY taste and that's why I dig this album so much. Of Wolves rightly don't give a fuck what anyone thinks. They are playing music that is meant for one thing. HEAD-BANGING!!!

Actually the album does have some startling lyrics to check out. Mainly the band pissed off at the entire civilized world probably aimed at the Politicians and Big Business. The 11 tracks may have you running for the hills at first but give it time and you will find an album to that is definitely worth checking out.

Check out excellent tracks - The Man, Moot Point, No Loss For Words and Red Skins.

Excellent and Highly Recommended
-Sludgelord

“Intense” doesn’t even begin to describe “Evolve”, the latest release by Of Wolves. It is truly too weak of a word to use. “Hellacious” would certainly be fitting, as would “ferocious” and “profound”. From the packaging of the CD itself to the raucously heavy and sludgy music, Of Wolves has put out an album that is truly striking in its delivery. With socio-political and religious imagery throughout the cover, booklet, and lyrics, there is definitely no denying that “Evolve” has a plethora of messages to get across....
complete with broken glass and High On Fire-like riffage in parts.....
Geoff Teach of RICM

also here is our Reverbnation page where we are currently at 6 on the Chicago metal chart (it ranges from about 5-9 back and forth over the last month) http://www.reverbnation.com/ofwolves

We hope this proves who we are, what we put out so far and that we are Metal \nn/
Thank you,
OF WOLVES

I understand that Germ may have post-punk influences. But this is clearly Black Metal. I'm SO confused why bands like Nest and Deep Purple get to be on MA but Germ doesn't?

Deep Purple were accepted based on their seminal works, which are considered metallic enough by the site. :)

As for Nest... uhm, please make sure you've read our rules on side-projects, dude. ;) It's also worth mentioning that Nest have recently come under discussion as to whether or not they fit under the site's guidelines for being a valid side-project, so... they may (or may not) be axed in future.

weareall1: Of Wolves is not predominantly metal. There's different elements in their music, the majority of which I'd call rock/punk-based.

Regarding Tombs, I re-listened to "Path of Totality" and it's not as borderline as I remember it from back in 2011. The album appears to reside on the acceptable side of the border. I have no objections to their inclusion, they can now be submitted.

man! WHAT THE FVCK IS WRONG WITH "Metal Archives"????

they reject bands like Suicide Silence, Protest The Hero, Northlane, Infant Annihilator, The Human Abstract, Chelsea Grin, Breakdown Of Sanity, Born Of Osiris, Betraying The Martyrs, August Burns Red, (to name a few). but yeah, they allow Winds Of Plague, Veil Of Maya, As Blood Runs Black, Bleed From Within, Carnifex, Caliban, Despised Icon, (to name a few).

hahaha the funniest part is, that some of the "trve metalheads moderators" say this shit: "we reject Suicide Silence/Chelsea Grin/Infant Annihilator cuz they use to much breakdowns....they are to much deathcore......c'mon assholes!! Winds Of Plague have A LOT of breakdowns, also Carnifex!! and if they are to much "deathcore"....then WHY THE FUCK u had the "DEATHCORE" label?!!

Whoooo-kaaaay... first of all, calm down.

Secondly, deathcore is - as you know, a hybrid genre that fuses death metal and hardcore. Now, some bands have more hardcore elements than death metal, and the reverse is also true. We only accept deathcore bands that have at least one predominantly metal album - that is, one with more death metal riffs than hardcore elements (or breakdowns, if you will). Now, breakdowns aren't the only attribute of an unacceptable deathcore band. Most of the bands that're blacklisted for being unacceptable deathcore feature no riffs, just percussive, open-string palm mutes (save Chelsea Grin, who're nothing but one breakdown Human Centiped-ed onto another).

Also, why're you getting so worked up? It's just a website. ;)

I received an E-Mail from Helvede stating a need for samples because of the "ambiguous" nature of Agnostia's Genre description this is what I can offer for material at the moment, the band dissolved so long ago, it will take time to gather copies of the Albums and EPs released. http://www.youtube.com/user/AgnostiaArchive Thank you.

I also included this you tube page link in the Notes and re-submitted, wasn't sure of the protocol, I would like to resolve this though, and have the band included, it was a very important band in a specific scene in the southeast, and there are still bands today whose sound was highly influenced by AgnostiA, not doing any own-horn-blowing here, it would just be a shame for the history to not be included.
