Your request is confusing.

Are you looking for deathrash (thrash metal mixed with death metal), or melodic death metal? Dew Scented is full-on what you're looking for if you want deathrash (as you already mentioned them). Similar acts are Deathchain, Beyond Mortality, Diabolical, Infernaeon, Izegrim, Noisem, Nuclear Salvation and Psychotic Pulse.

If you want melodic death metal, which Darkane and The Haunted fall into, take a gander at Bloody Pride, Deviant Syndrome, Lost Vital Spark, Mercenary, Monolith and Solution .45.

Out of the ones I checked out, I liked Diabolical, Noisem, Nuclear Salvation, and Psychotic Pulse. None were that specific thing I was looking for, but I did still like some of their music, especially Diabolical.

If anyone else has any other recs, feel free to post. I'm really feeling this genre right now.

Maybe I'm just not hip as I used to be, but why is Lost Society so popular, when there are so many better new thrash bands out there?

Clever Nuclear Blast marketing. And while there are plenty of better new thrash bands out there as you say, I think they're above average (but some bands really pull that average down). They seem like they've got the talent to make a really awesome second album, but I somehow doubt that they will.

Whoa! Rise, Vulcan Spectre in my opinion is even HEAVIER than Divinity of Death. Curious to hear more of your opinion on this matter...

I dunno man, RVS just doesn't do it for me like DoD does. Seems way more drawn out and losses my attention... they don't crank up the speed as much which makes it sound less like Demolition Hammer and ends up leaving the majority of RVS all at the same tempo, which wouldn't be so bad but most of their songs are pushing 4 minutes or more which is about twice as long as needed imo. The riffs aren't as good either.

Where's the songs like Gringo Death, Lex Talionis, and Acid Visions??
http://duplicaterecords.bandcamp.com/track/gringo-death
http://duplicaterecords.bandcamp.com/track/lex-talionis
http://duplicaterecords.bandcamp.com/track/acid-visions

It's still a good record, made my best of list last year actually, but I don't think it's nearly as vicious as DoD and when it comes to thrash that trumps heaviness any day in my book. I will definitely concede that Raised by Dogs, Blood Wisdom, and Cast Down to the Void are all rippers though.

Can someone recommend me some good new wave of thrash metal? the prolem of what i have heard of most bands is that they are way too generic or all songs sound the same. Being generic isnt necesary bad, tho.

Bands that i like: Torture Squad, Evile, Mantic Ritual, Sanctity, Vindicator, Savage Messiah, Hatriot, Warbringer.

Bands that i heard and didnt really liked much: Vektor, Gamma Bomb, Lazarus A.D. , Violator, Lich King, Suicidal Angels, Bonded by Blood, Havok.

Have you checked out Pessimist? German thrash. They got two albums under their belt. Looking at those bands that you like, you might enjoy them.

Man i like those too, tho i didnt liked Inncinerator vocals very much, it doesnt ruin it, the music is great.

Razormaze (they reminded me of Evile a bit), Condition Critical, Impalers, all great stuff! thanks a lot. Of all those three i think that i liked Impalers and Razormaze a bit more, yep thats kind of the stuff that im looking for (all of them).

There are more great newer thrash bands that i thought. I guess that il give another chance to the bands that i didnt liked that much, it has been a long since i listened to them, and havent really listened to a full length.

I have more good stuff to listen now, thanks again to both of you, but i wouldnt bother if you recommend me more stuff :P.

Vocals don't really matter to me well to an extent at least, its all about riffs to me.

I agree, as long as the vocals arent too fucked up i can enjoy the music. I mean, the vocals in Innsinnerator arent bad, just a bit odd, but they are starting to grown on me. And yeah i also tend to look more for riffs.

Man, fucking great band, Nekromantheon! (weird name tho) , didnt knew them either, really good, cool riffs, heavy and fast stuff, good vocals, some old school shit right there. I like this kind of thrash also, that is fast and brutal but also not sloppy and well played, awesome stuff!.

Man, i am listening to more songs from Impalers and FUCK those guys kick serious arse! im just loving it, and i will do my best to buy the album. I mean, those guys, im not sure if im exaggerating or overhyping it, but for what i have listened, both Impalers and Nekromantheon could be the new Kreator and Sodom (just not from Germany, of course). Not really original or innovative but what they do they do it GREATLY.

Really man, how do you come up with these great bands? i liked all of them, again, thank you (both of you) and if you want you still can give me moar!.

I was really into modern thrash metal a while ago, I'll drop some of my favorite bands and maybe you find something interesting,

Antichrist. Sounds like mid 80's German speed/thrash.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8IB6JPBTqc

Tornado (Greece). Quite technical sounding reminding me mostly of Megadeth. I actually just discovered this tying to look up the other Tornado.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs7zNZZaBU8

Tornado (NL). Vocalist is likely very hit or miss with people but I personally like him. Not far off a style like Killian. According to the archives the vocalist was involved with Gothic Slam even though he doesn't appear to be on any of their recordings.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67XaDMsoKNM

Rezet. Big Megadeth influence with their style of speed/thrash.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COZ-ayl6QBc

Hellcannon. Like a more brutal version of Toxic Holocaust. Even the logo is copying Toxic Holocaust who copied Sarcofago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGJVMH1UrOY

Angelus Apatrida. At the front of the Spanish bands right now. They have a few albums out. If you like them then check out Aggression also from Spain.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTpW2-_TQnQ

Insane (Italy). Show no Mercy clone but excellent songwriting. Pity they only released one album before splitting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGYbcjdazoE

Xanadoo. The only thrash band I know from Singapore. Slight crossover feel to it and quite speedy. Great riff work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWS8nYu1mcQ

Essence. Danish thrashers with some Artillery influence particularly at the introduction of this song with the middle eastern leads. The second song linked is my favorite from the album. I haven't checked out the new album yet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ljBBYI7RrU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBGeR0Lz9pM

Witchaven. Blackened/thrash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux5fQqA76gM

Evil Army. Punkish thrash that is really good. Reminds me of Toxic Holocaust at times.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS-LsZbdNT4

Lost Society. Their album got a lot of praise and is pretty solid with a lot of traditional metal influence. Didn't click with me for reasons I can't seem to explain though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHF7LeFGMIg

Blood Tsunami. I wasn't a fan of their first album as it was chock full of melodic death metal but their follow up dropped all the melodic death elements.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1fup3kPczU

Rusted Brain. Discovered these Polish guys a few weeks ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NptXBd0fw3M

Nocturnal Breed. Been around pre-dating the retro movement but Fields of Rot was a great blackened/thrash album from 2007. Sodom fans should be at home here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7yOD6MhG14

Ketzer. Couldn't get into the second album but the first is some excellent black/thrash reminding me mostly of Desaster.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeGQ5RJw2Cg

Immaculate. The debut album was very over the top thrash with all the songs having titles like Thrashzilla. Atheist Crusade is a much more mature album and quite epic and technical. This band is deserving of more attention due to this album in my opinion.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7YTGEAwcSw

Hope some of those work for you.

Shit so much stuff! of all those, i only knew Skeletonwitch, Dekapitator and Angelus. Some bands maybe knew them by name but havent actually heard em.

I liked all of them!, but of all those, i specially liked Crisix, wich were extremely oddly melodic at the beginning (but cool) tho the vocals are a bit odd sometimes, also Mutant are pretty cool. Tornado was also pretty wicked, Rezet too. Insane sound extremely similar to Show no Mercy Slayer in a cool way, pretty good. Hellcannon, man, pretty brutal stuff.

But just to resume, i liked all of them. Great, thanks guys!

Now as a way of grattitude to all who have recommended me stuff, i would like to recommend a band myself. They are called Stormwrath, and are from Spain and i bet you that they will remind you of classic Sodom:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYovBDS3S9s

Hope you like it if you havent heard them ;).

Shit, now i have much more stuff to listen! again thanks, keep it going please :P.BTW now i want to be a bit more specific. Dou you know any newer thrash band that plays in the more "epic" style of albums like Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, The New Order, Rust in Peace, By Inheritance? i mean songs like Creeping Death, Holy Wars, The New Order, Khomaniac, that have kind of an epic feeling in the chorus. The closer that i know is Evile.

I mean, i would like more thrash in the vein of what you have recommended me so far, but i wanted to ask for that specific request since i like that style a lot and it seems to be somehow missed in newer thrash.

^ Reign of Fury should just be the thing you are looking for if that is the case, check it out and buy it below! Full of that 80's thrash vibe.

Man, yeah! that was the kind of stuff that i meant with the last example i used. Listening to Infernal Conflitct, great stuff :headbang: i like that chorus, its melodic but not overly melodic, cool!.

Thanks man, i liked it a lot! the album is actually from streaming in that link that you gave me? anyway i will try to buy the album, i have to borrow my bro´s credit card cus i dont have one and they dont sell shit when it comes to metal in my city (except for a few Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth), i try to do my best to support underground acts but its a bit tough to find stuff sometimes, thanks for giving me an actual link where they sell the record.

Edit: I see that the album is not for full streaming, naturally...anway if the songs are as good as that one i guess the album is worth buying.

Not to worry man, I though you would enjoy it based on your last discription. I did not realise the full album wasnt streaming there as it used to be, hit up you tube you should get most of the tracks there anyway. The album has got very good reviews. This is a bit off your request but if you enjoy Ride and Masters era Metallica you should check out Outrage from Japan especially the early albums, thought they are far from new wave...

Yep! they have a fewer songs in youtube, Born to Die, World of Conflict, and im reading some reviews and it seems that the abum delivers like you said.

Its nice to have a more melodic approach after listening to such heavy songs by Nekromantheon or Impalers, heheh.

About Outrage, i see that they are old, any album in particular?.

Nekromantheon are indeed fantastic, their latest is a favourite of mine. As for Outrage check out Black Clouds or Blind to Reality. This is the closest to Masters era Metallica you are likely to find, right down to the snare drum sound! With a bit of Megadeth thrown in for good measure.

Oh and before I forget give Animator's debut a whirl -

Free to download, enjoy!

Wow cool! an album free to download by the band! now im not going to feel guilty for even wanting to download an album without the band knowledge, heheh.

Listening a few songs, sounds cool, and i will give Outrage a try. Many thanks man!.

You might enjoy 4Arm (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbR7q0GiZ_0), Wolfpack Unleashed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGiVNlQpejU), Sufosia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMpRBkY00vU) and Abandoned (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgyvZ-jSpgo).

As for modern thrash metal bands that are not so epic/melodic, i can recommend you to check out Deficiency (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qNsvzt8was) and Hellbringer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI6T2zNLVt0).

P.S. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Bonded by Blood and Fueled by Fire yet. They are quite popular nowadays (and I don't really understand why).

Thanks man! i liked all of them, tho i do find Deficiency to be somehow melodic. 4Arm are pretty cool (i listened to some songs of previous albums and sound like groove/thrash, thats cool actually) so are Hellbringer (tho, the intro sounds awfully similar to Hell Awaits) .

I know Bonded by Blood and Fueled by Fire, but im not sure if i have heard them or liked them.

For epic thrash check out the Immaculate link I put in if you haven't yet. The harmonies in Angelus Apatrida and somewhat Aggression as well which I also mentioned have a slight epic feel.

Some more

Anger as Art. Annihilator anyone?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISwrtCCSy1I

Savage Messiah. Power/thrash that can be quite epic. Excellent stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJrDdHXhsxA

Worwyk. Not sure what you will think of this band. Thrashy power/traditional metal, and quite underrated or unknown in my opinion. Only album I have heard is In Solitude and I enjoy it a lot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrJQmdwuTiI

Not epic but you may enjoy National Suicide. They clearly love Overkill. The best Blitz clone!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZTvdz5448E

Mastery. Technical thrash that is a bit progressive in the songwriting department and purely instrumental on the debut EP. Listening to their album on youtube right now with Billy Milano on vocals and not a fan of the vocals too much as they are too coreish but maybe it will grow on me. I do love the riffing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZW4f59IfZY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KBfIOkU1yU

Shatter Messiah. Power/traditional thrash.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pkRLHtdFgQ

Biomcechanical. This is like a blend of a bunch of stuff. Quite technical and just awesome.

Listening to your song Behind the Inverted Star :headbang: .

Thanks man! i listened a few songs and i liked it, keep it going.

Just for the sake of adding more info for further recommendations, my fav thrash metal bands overall are...well mostly the usual stuff: Overkill, Slayer, Testament, Metallica (old school), Exodus, Sepultura (old school), Kreator, Sodom, Megadeth, Annihilator, Heathen, Metal Church, Anthrax, Celtic Frost and so on, mostly classic stuff. And as far as newer acts the ones that i like most so far are Evile, Torture Squad, Warbriger, Reign of Fury, Impalers, Warbringer, Nekromantheon and Sanctity.

I also like thrash influenced groove metal in the vein of Pantera (Cowboys from Hel), Machine Head (Burn my Eyes, The Blackening), Chimaira, Devildriver, 4arm, Grip Inc, etc. And thrash influenced power metal like Iced Earth, Rage, early Blind Guardian, Metal Church, Helstar, and so on. I would also love to hear more bands in the vein of both styles :D (old or new).

I heard a song of Ravenous, from their only LP, it was pretty good and indeed sounds like Machine Head, tho there wasnt many songs on youtube and most of them were mid paced, i preffer faster stuff.

I am gave Havok another chance, with Time is Up and i really liked it. Not sure why i didnt liked em, i think that i had heard only mid paced songs but most songs of the album are pretty fast, oh well. Its good, not so special and the vocals are a bit tedious but i like it so far.

Edit: I just discovered Warbeast and they are awesome. I think that they new band of former Rigor Mortis singer, thats why the vocals sounded familiar to me. Listened to Krush my Enemy and its already one of my fav:

Im just so happy that i gave newer thrash metal a chance. I used to avoid it, since i thought it was all generic and uninteresting. Well some are kind of generic, but they do kick ass, to say at least and they keep thrash alive. So far i have liked pretty much everything that you guys have recommend me, but these have to be my fav of new wave of thrash overall (no particular order except for the first three):

1.-Torture Squad: Pandemonium
2.-Warbringer: War Without End
3.-Evile: Enter the Grave
4.-Nekromantheon: Rise, Vulcan Spectre
5.-Impalers: Power Behind the Throne
6.-Warbeast: Krush the Enemy
7.-Reign of Fury: World Detonation
8.-Sanctity: Road to Bloodshed
9.-Havok: Time is Up
10.-Mantic Ritual: Executioner

For Havok, skip their newest record, Unnatural Selection. It has terribly tinny production and just suuucks.

Maybe I'm just not hip as I used to be, but why is Lost Society so popular, when there are so many better new thrash bands out there?

What surprises me is that Lost Society just seems like a worse version of Gama Bomb, but a lot of people seem to dislike Gama despite them being great, and people seem to love Lost Society.

I enjoy both bands, but Gama Bomb is far superior to me.

I tend to like Vektor, some bits and parts of Revocation... I like that they are trying new things while still embracing some traditionnal elements. They don't feel like they are trying to do the same thing that was being done 20-30 years ago but more that they are evolving from them...

Any suggestions in that vein ?

There's this band... Archetype, young band from Montreal, that's a little bit like this to, but they only have a demo... I uploaded it on youtube, couldn't find anything else than their bandcamp and Facebook page (which is in french).

Just in case you'd like to laugh more, I enjoy the following bands more than Vektor: Bonded By Blood, Warbringer, Municipal Waste, Evile, and the list goes on!

Gama Bomb is one of the few, remaining pillars of why the new thrash movement still gets labeled as crappy, nacho-pizza-zombie thrash. Fuck them in their stupid referential asses.

Don't need a recommendation, but I do need to figure out a name of a band. All I remember about the band was that they were kinda sorta tech thrash, had two full-length albums, and the album art for both albums kinda reminded me of the cover for Razor's "Open Hostility". I think there was a Western thing going on in the art? I'm not sure. Both albums were available for download on a blog years ago...and that's all the information I can provide. I was listening to the above mentioned album by Razor, and I remembered the existence of this band. I'm not sure I even thought they were good, but it would be cool to revisit. Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind, found them, it was Intruder. Man, I was way off on the cover art thing.
