So I am perpetually on the lookout for a new guitar, and I had a question about hollow bodies.

Will distorting a hollow body guitar create feedback? I've tried to search for a definite answer and some people claim that it does and other claim it doesn't.

I play through an Ibanes tube screamer head, and I tend to have the overdrive pretty high, but I don't use any pedal effects.

Does anyone have an experience with this? Or any insight at all?

The guitarist in my post-metal band used to use hollowbodies (specifically very jazzy guitars), and we found that although there can be a lot of feedback, a good EQ pedal can be used to tame it. A good quality head works as well, crappy amps in practice rooms didn't help us at all, but his Dual Terror was fine with it.

The feedback could be pretty useful at times, there were a couple of notes on the guitar that would basically sustain infinitely if you held them down and allowed feedback to happen. Only about two notes, but it was still pretty cool.
