I thought the idea of re-recording this, along with their or so famous ''Gothic'' would be a total disaster. I couldn't be more wrong though. The upgraded production doesn't bother me and the barked grunts sound as menancing as ever really. This band might not be as predictable as I thought after all.

Haven't listened to this in like a year. Actually, haven't listened to any black metal in about a year.

I thought the two albums before that were so boring I didn't even give this a chance, is it any good? The debut is still a rocking slice of good old true metal.

Flowing Tears - Swallow

This is real gothic metal. While they have a hot chick fronting the band, it never becomes poppy - this is real Fields of the Nephilim/Christian Death style gloom all the way, just with more drawn out melodies.

@Empyreal; Crimen Excepta is cool, for the most part. Could be a tad shorter, but it's a fun album, and Marta's vocals are pretty crazy there. If you liked the debut, then you should like CE just fine.

Depressed Mode - Ghosts of Devotion

I haven't heard this one in aaaaages. Quite funeral doomy, but it's not a long album, so it can be digested by those with shorter attention spans. Not bad stuff, although they changed after this album so that's quite a shame.

Decrepitaph - Horror Prevails

One of the better swedeath resurrectionists.

Mammoth Grinder - Underworlds

Man, this is almost perfect. The only thing I would change if I had the chance, would be the vocals. They're not bad but growls would suit the music more imo.

I'm still not entirely used to clean vocals in Japanese, but having destructive power metal goodness backing them certainly helps.

Soundgarden - King Animal (album)

So, tell me... Why do i love a grunge/rock album again?

It's admittedly more of an atmospheric similarity than one of the actual sound - the riffs in Flowing Tears are heavy and midpaced and a bit sludgy, and there's not much of that old gothic punky fuzz like the bands I mentioned have. But it's not that poppy and the songs are very dark and opaque. I just think fans of old goth rock would dig this stuff. It's a bit like Siouxsie and the Banshees if they got really pissed off and decided to write some heavy as fuck riffs.

Markradonn - Final Dying Breath

Why any label would release this is beyond me. Noodly, poorly written "death" metal.

Not enjoying this as much as F#A# or Lift Your Skinny Fists... but it's still a pretty cool album. It might need a few more listens to click with me
