Hi. I am new to the forums, although I've been on this site a lot. I was wondering if there was a specific way to do the vocals done on Celtic Frost's "Morbid Tales" album. I wasn't sure if the technique was specific, if it was similar to growling, screaming, shouting, or singing, etc. I apologize if I am on the wrong board or if there is a mass thread for this kind of question. I figured this site would be the best for this because I'm sure many people here have heard that album.

Thanks.

Sounds like a very wet shout with just a little bit of that growl distortion under it.

Hmm, okay, that makes sense. Thanks! I'm not too familiar with the different techniques so I wasn't sure.

What Kale said. Its a great vocal style for sure, try to emulate the unusual accidences and syllables to get a better feel for the style. Also the vocals absolutely require throwing in the occasional oooooooooo.

In my experience it's one of the easiest metallic vocal styles to emulate. I'd describe it as halfway between spoken vocals and shouted vocals. Typical of 80's thrash metal scene.
