Its strange, I rarely listen to these guys, but I still feel compelled to buy all their stuff. The Japanese pressing for this has pretty nice packaging (as does most stuff on King Records).

My second favorite of theirs after The Black Halo. Tremendous emotion there really.

Thiestru, yeah Oceanborn is very good too. Century Child is another keeper; impeccable pop metal.

Motorhead - Another Perfect Day

Anyone who said "Motorhead are always releasing the same album" can go fuck themselves, this is so different from an album like Ace of Spades.

Love the guitar solos on that album

Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden, Pestilence - Consuming Impulse, Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation...

Enjoying the start of my four day weekend and listening to some of my all time favorites on cassette. :-D

Mork Gryning - World of the Dragon.

Return Fire is a killer album. Raw, melodic and thrashy black metal. Needs to be revisited by anyone and everyone that wrote the band off after the first album........which wasn’t their best anyway.

Strapping Young Lad - Zen

Pretty damn good song. This song, Shitstorm, and Love? are still the highlights of Alien.

Garden of Shadows - Oracle Moon, off the album of the same name

It's been an obscenely long time since I listened to this beautiful, beautiful album. Majestic, epic death metal, not to mention completely atypical for America.

Aura Noir - Released Damnation

The best Norwegian 90s band that doesn't sound like they're Norwegian and came about in the 90s? Yeah, think so. KILL!!

Dream Theater - Goodnight Kiss

Someone talked about James LaBrie being influenced by Freddie Mercury in the vocalists' thread and this song is the strongest I've heard those influences come through.

Pale Horse- Naglfar

Their 'return' album is pretty sick, this is probably one of my favorite Naglfar songs.

Excellent album, song and band. Possibly their best. Another great band that people disregard post first album.

Immolation - The Devil I Know

Failures For Gods seems to have not a single memorable track, but still it's a very enjoyable album. Immolation have death metal figured out. Their formula just works.

Morbid Angel - Summoning Redemption

This really is a very good album. Chunky and tight as hell. Very dark.

After been listening and enjoying to bands from genres that i used to dislike like nu metal and metalcore, im having a little old school thrash marathon, stuff like Overkill, Kreator, Exodus,SlayerSepultura, etc.

Currenly im listening to Exouds live at DNA, but a mp3 version of the dvd that i ripped of myslef, hehe.Testament will be next, probably with Live in London.

In Solitude - Sister.

Album of the year. It's everything I ever loved when it comes to dark and heavy music.

Won't leave my player anytime soon.

Alkemyst - Still Alive, off Meeting in the Mist

A rather atypical instance of frantic speed/power metal with rather pristine vocals. Have you listened to this stuff, Emp? It's quite good.

I dunno, the title track and No Jesus, No Beast are pretty memorable to me.

Currently listening to Entombed - Contempt.

I've never given Wolverine Blues a proper try because i'm not a fan of their later stuff and i've only really taken the time to listen to Left Hand Path and Clandestine. Still, i'm enjoying this.

Naw, I heard of em though. I always assumed they were just like Vanden Plas, a really weak Dream Theater/Pagan's Mind sort of thing. I'll check it out.

In Solitude - Sister

I like it; not as much as some do but it's definitely good enough. Better than the last album anyway. I like the gothy vibe to it. Riffing is a bit too forced-retro at times, but still solid.

Rage "21"

Neat. The Japanese pressing doesn't have those annoying clicks between tracks, unlike the Euro version.

Heavy as fuck, nothing very original and extraordinary but it's cool and fun.

Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante

Just got this. Heard it countless times years ago, but not recently.

Edit: Christ this thing gets obscenely loud on my stereo. Have to turn it down at parts. Afraid my speakers are gonna blow or my house will collapse or something.

Absolutely crushing funeral doom/drone.

In Solitude - "The World, The Flesh, The Devil"

This is the third time i have listening to this album today. I fuckin' love it. It's superior to the first record in any level, specially in the vocal department and the guitar harmonies are awesome.

But for the samples online, seems like "Sister" will be their magnum opus... every song i have listened from that album seems to be from another dimension. Dark as fuck.

Sister is a killer record, it'll definitely be in my top ten this year.

OT:

Threshold - March Of Progress
Man, I fucking love this album/band. Surprised I haven't had a noise complaint from blasting this, and singing poorly at the top of my voice.

Blood Red Throne - Altered Genesis.

The riffs! I recently discovered this band although I've had their album "Affiliated with the Suffering" at home for over a year. Never bothered to listen to it until recently.

I love the vocals on here but it does get monotonous. A little variation would have taken this very close to perfection

Binah - A New Rotten Dawn

This sounded good when I first got into it, but damn it sounds even better about six months later. Death metal is becoming really digestible to me now, as opposed to feeling like noise punctuated by occasional cool bits.

Oddly short (1:50) track from their first album with good, melodic riffs pushed through relatively raw production.

NP: Cadaver Inc. [Discipline, 2001] - 3. Murderhead (01:50/03:14) {320 kbp/s}
I was expecting Cadaver with some black metal, not thrash riffs with black metal drumming and vocals. There's apparently some death metal in there somewhere too

Kaamos - Corpus Vermis

The MA reviews for this album reference wide ranging influences from their Swedish forebears Entombed and Grave to first and second wave US acts and the Dutch Sinister and Asphyx. Now I'm far from a death metal expert but I've listened to this song three times today and I can't shake the Bolt Thrower vibe it gives me during the more epic guitar passages. The vocal style isn't that far off either even if the lyrical content is far from BT material.
