Dio - Rock 'n' Roll Children, off Sacred Heart

Jaunty little tune. Not the man's best, but I dig the 80's cheese that permeates it.

NP: Filthy Christians [Mean, 1990] - 7. Extremely Bad Breath (00:48/02:51) {321 kbp/s}
For what it's worth this isn't too bad. Oldschool Swedish grind, found 'em from Ekeroth's book.

NP: Triumph, Genus - vzhcehrerewosnt ja poararerna poerepr? Fuck do I know, but SHIT this is awesome. Definitely my top album this year. It sounds like a mix of DMDS and Serpent Sermon, and even the fucking vocals sound like Attila did on DMDS. This kills.

Gorgoroth - Gorgoroth

The early albums never fail to amaze.

Totally agreed inhumanist!

Possessed - Fallen Angel

Possessed are death metal? No, they aren't, they're black metal :P just listen to The Exorcist then listen to Under a Funeral Moon, and tell me if you hear a similar riff in each song...

Deep Purple - Child in Time

Gillan's emotional, over the top wailings. Crazy soloing in the midlle. THE ORGAN. In Rock is to me the greatest album ever, and this is the best song in it.

I guess this is as good as Nightwish gets, which will never be great to me, but it's certainly passable.

You know, I always feel like I'm copping out when I say that 'Child in Time' is my favorite Deep Purple song, but good God, it is. 'Stargazer' stands as the most epic song Blackmore ever wrote, but 'Child in Time' comes within spitting distance of it.

Yngwie j. Malmsteen ~ marching out

My buddy brought this vinyl over out of a stack his uncle gave him. First time listening to malmsteen at all. Im impressed, "I'm a viking" and "disciples of hell" were fucking awesome.

fuck yeah! In bloom, lithium, come as you are, damn all take me back to 5th grade. I don't care how anti-metal Nirvana is, I still love the shit out of their first two albums.

Nirvana wasn't anti-metal. It was all a media hoax. Anti-hair metal maybe. According to Dave Grohl they used to listen to Celtic Frost in King Buzzo's van.

NP: Cathedral - Cosmic Funeral

"Disco Supernova, do the Martian Bossanova....Let's groove Sonic Muthafucka!"

My God, that transition from ominous plodding doom section to upbeat stoner is one of a kind.

Thou - Tyrant

My first time listening to this one all the way through, it has a different vibe from the other Thou full-lengths, but it's still awesome.

Mael Mordha - All Eire Will Quake

New discovery, hearing this for the first time and digging it. Got it from the sampler that comes with Terrorizer magazine. I like this a lot and will most likely pursue this band further.

Cradle of Filth - Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder (title track)

Took me a while to pick up this album, but after a couple listens I'd say it's pretty solid.

Interesting. I think "FantasMic" is easily the best song from Wishmaster, and possibly the best Nightwish song I've ever heard.

I think it is great personally; love that album. Such a unique sound with the style as well as the production they chose. It's a symphonic metal album that favors the riffing and vocals over the keys, and the melodies give it a nice, exotic texture I think.

Autumn - Skydancer in the car on the way home, one of my favorite songs ever.

^ checking the above album (Autumn - Altitude) out for the first time, and I'm digging it so far. The overall vibe is somewhat reminiscent of recent Katatonia albums, which I love, with obviously more gothic overtones. Seems to be a calm, inviting album. I could see this one growing on me even more. Cool :nods:

AufHeben "華-HANA-"

Yet another Japanese sub-genre clusterfuck. The production is a bit (unsuitably) raw, but I'm getting used to it. Overall, I'm enjoying this.

Ah yeah, it's a treasured album of mine. It's very laid back and wistful, but the melodies are so beautiful that it's out of this world. I haven't really heard anything else like it.

This is just a perfect set by my favourite singer, especially the song circles. Getting more excited for seeing her on Saturday now, will be a band show rather than solo acoustic though.

Watched Nocturno Culto's "The Misanthrope" yesterday, now I'm inspired to listen to the Aura Noir discography...

I actually just deleted Gorgoroth from my computer. Used to be a fan, no more.

Aura Noir - The Pest

Now this is where it's at in terms of Norway.

I love early Gorgoroth, and Quantos is a great album as well.

Yngwie - Rising Force. Classic and always will be.

Vomitory - Blood Rapture. This and Redemption are their best work though they've never released anything less than excellent.

King Crimson - Islands

I actually really enjoy Boz Burrell fronting the band. Great album. Eclectic mix. Steven Wilson version owns, obviously.

King Crimson - Larks' Tongues In Aspic

What else to say. I can only imagine what all the stoner-teens of the 70s were thinking when they smoked a joint to this newly-released album.

Nothing wrong with violins! This is a good album, even though I usually don't like stuff like this. Skycontact is nowhere near as good, in my opinion.

I don't have Redemption and I can't find it anywhere, but I hope to pick it up one day. You're right that all their releases are at least good (Primal Massacre is the least good, but still not bad), which is a good feat for a band spanning over 20 years.

Yeah, this rules still, and always will. When I first heard it I didn't like it much, but it quickly grew on me.

Pig Destroyer - Book Burner

Still a winner for their discography, in my opinion. Nothing will ever top Prowler in the Yard, but Book Burner still has its fair share of great riffs, with the drumming as good as it's ever been.

Its strange, I rarely listen to these guys, but I still feel compelled to buy all their stuff. The Japanese pressing for this has pretty nice packaging (as does most stuff on King Records).
