Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion

It appears this album invented everything I love about black metal.

In Solitude - A Buried Sun

Better than the last one for sure; the singer sounds in his element now and I like the gothy fuzz over everything. Not sure it'll be one of the best of the year but we'll see! It's like goth rock filtered through a metal tint.

Bulldozer - Rob "Klister"

"Klister - he's mental insane
Klister - his parents mad
Klister - he hides in his room
Klister - a ton of porn magazines
Klister - rotten inside
Klister - takes off his pants
Klister - holds it in the hand
Klister - and runs all the times"

 I haven't heard that song in forever. Bulldozer do a great job of not taking themselves too seriously.

Atlantean Kodex - Atlantean Kodex

Cool doom, mentioned by Empyreal I think in the FFA. Enjoying them!! Got the old school sound.

I'm not a guy who tends to pay a lot of attention to drumming, but damn, Proscriptor is a fucking robot. I'm sure of it.

I listened to Tara last night. It had been a while since listening to Absu/Proscriptor because I found their last two albums pretty boring; sorely missing the guitarist/songwriter from the first part of their career. Tara is still as good as I always remembered! Amazing drummer though - I love his snare placement.

The Vision Bleak - Witching Hour

These guys have been pretty much rock-solid, and this new album doesn't sound like it'll be any different.

Damn, I'm slightly stoned listening to Blood Lust by Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats. It's pretty awesome. I want to say that this band is (what Ghost wants to be)^2. The music isn't exactly comparable maybe, but the aesthetic is pretty close in my opinion. Love the production and the hint of John Lennon in his voice. If you haven't heard it do yourself a favor.

In my opinion Blood Lust is one of the most complete-sounding albums in the last 2-3 years. Every song is a fucking hit

Svartidaudi - Flesh Cathedral

I've been listening to this album all day. One of the best dissonant BM albums out there, for sure. Svartidaudi seems to be able to incorporate this sheer insanity and energy into the music they write that other dissonant bm bands seem to lack.

Delicious. Somehow works reasonably well as study-music, too, despite being rather dynamic.

Paragon - The Legacy

Man I love these guys. The best of the early-2000s crunchy German PM acts for sure. Though Iron Savior's Condition Red is better, none of that band's other albums come close to Paragon's streak.

Jute Gyte - Acedia

Thought I'd check out their new album on youtube. It sounds pretty good, but I can't follow what on earth they're doing chord progression wise, or anything else. The microtonal thing is certainly a good way to go if you want to make people feel uneasy (and slightly queasy to boot).

suidakra - eternal defiance

cool, but the female vocals are making it sound like a totally different band from the emprise to avalon-signs for the fallen days.

I don't care what anyone thinks but this new Carcass is really good, Noncompliance to ASTM f 899-12 Standard is an absolute beast of a song, really enjoying it a lot.

I wanted to like it, and I was really psyched when it came out, but I just can't get into it :(

I can understand why people don't like it to be fair, the production is way too clean and sanitised and some of the melodies are cheesy as hell but there are some excellent riffs throughout and if the aforementioned production was a bit dirtier then it would be pretty heavy. It has Swansong and Heartwork moments with a touch of Necroticism. I'm on a real Carcass bender lately, listened from Symphonies to Surgical Steel and everything in between today at work. Was epic.

I think my problem may be that I really don't like neither Heartwork or Swansong. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting from Surgical Steel, but I guess it's too Heartwork-y for me

What did you think of the track "A Congealed Clot of Blood"? I thought that was the most Necroticismesque track.

It's funny you should mention it, because I definitely found that to be my favourite track, and the one that stood out the most in my ears.

Anathema - Internal Landscapes

I'm still not totally sold on this shift to such an optimistic tone. Anathema show glimmers of brilliance on 'Weather Systems', and occasionally erupt into something extraordinary, but I miss the old darkness.

I have pretty much the same problem with Surgical Steel. Luckily there are an endless amount of Carcass worship bands (who tend to worship Symphonies and Necroticism) to listen to!

Just one reason why it's good. ;)

Black Sabbath - Under the Sun a bit ago, classic - there are few better bands.

Altar of Plagues - God Alone

The vocals are honestly the only enjoyable aspect of this song, but even then he's singing over this absolute drivel of a song.

Violent, swirling death metal madness, thick with fire and vitriol, and some furious riffage. When this lot lock into a savage riff sequence, it's as solid as it gets - caustic and claustrophobic.

Swarm of Rats by Belphegor

I really hope that the album they're supposed to release next year doesn't disappoint
I'm expecting them to blow it out of the water to make up for the short stint of mediocrity they had
