The Ruins of Beverast- Malefica

I wasn't sure how to feel about the new album when I first heard it a few days ago, but I really love it now. It's Meilenwald's most dense and immersive work to date, although I'm not sure if I like it as much as "Foulest Semen..." or the almighty "Rain Upon the Impure", but this may change with time. Either way, it's another shining star in a flawless discography. Time to turn the lights off and just let this thing drag me in.

Exhumed - Slaughtercult

Seeing these guys next month so I've been listening to their stuff. I still think Slaughtercult is their best album although All Guts No Glory was great too. Not feeling Necrocracy as much as the reviewers were, but I'll give it some more spins.

Fauna - Avifauna

guess i'm in an atmospheric black metal mood lately, this is probably their best stuff so far.

I was initially put off by the song lengths but when u begin listening, you hardly notice. Beautiful album.

Np : Bolzer - Roman Acupuncture

With better production, this could have been as good as Aura. The vocals at the beginning of the title track still cracks me up though

The Ruins Of Beverast - Ornaments On Malice

Brooding, huge and mesmirising work from Von Meilenwald here. The opening crushing, serpentine riff is all about setting you up for the darkness that follows, pulling you down...

Clutch - Earth Rocker

One hell of an album. Hardhitting stoner rock, hit after hit. Highly memorable and awesome sound.

I agree, except I can't stand the chorus to that song!

Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican

I absolutely adore Exhorder, it's a shame the reunion never really amounted to anything.

NP: Grave Miasma [Odori Sepulcrorum, 2013] - 3. Ovation to a Thousand Lost Reveries (02:34/06:05) {294 kbp/s}
The atmosphere on this is excellent, has a nice evil feel to it and the music is pretty good on top of that.

NP: Aeternus - ...And So The Night Became.

An album I feel gets overlooked by a lot of people. I consider it a classic black metal album, though there are a lot of additional instruments and keyboards, but not so much that I would consider them a symphonic black metal band.

I checked out Ministry's latest video...... looks like I'm not missing much.

Loved their stuff up to Psalm 69, but his newer stuff is a little too much chugga-chugga for my tastes.

He looks like he's had a Pete Burns-esque midlife crisis though...... forehead tattoo, vampire fangs, multiple body mods, etc.

Is it because he's got enough money now that he can finally do all this shit to himself without worrying about work, or what????

Tang Dynasty - Dream Return to Tang Dynasty

Pretty cool metal from China actually, like an epic, oriental, political version of Queensryche meets Faith No More....

Out of curiosity, are you listening to the vinyl or a digital version? I was listening to the digital version when it came out and it sounded like a vacuumcleaner on the other side of a brick wall

Paradise Lost - Gothic

In my opinion, their finest effort. The occasional female vocals greatly add to its atmosphere.

Do you sometimes have the feeling that the album through which you get to know and love a band will forever be your favorite? Well, it's that case with me when it comes to Darkthrone's "Sardonic Wrath"

Emperor - Curse You All Men!

This album has aged in a weird way. Some tracks are great and others totally forgettable, yet the whole body of work seems to be consistent in a full listen.

Cancer - Death Shall Rise
This used to be one of my favorite albums from the era. I just had to give it another listen on behalf of the band reforming. It's still as good as I remember.

Meliah Rage- Masquerade.

Pretty damn good album for the most part, at least as good as their first two albums. The songs are very matured and ride on solid traditional thrash riffs with a hint of proggishness. We have some slick speed-thrashers ("Chosen", "Last Rites"), a ballad (the title track), and a few Accept-type crushers ("History Will Tell", "Dreamer").

Empyrium - Waldpoesie

'Weiland' is definitely Empyrium's best album. This has been one of my favorite neofolk albums for a long time, and I don't think that'll ever change.

Forgotten Woods - Dimension of the Blackest Dark

Zodijackyl turned me onto these guys. I quite like it. It's fairly rockish, midpaced black metal where the drums are the lead instrument.
