I hate boots. Boots mean that only these greek Pricks get the benefit from it.

Everyone should ban all the boots. But these days there are so many. This week my buddy got a spiritual Healing bootleg. Goddamn also that got booted.

That's not a bootleg, it's a counterfeit copy. Those are always a no.

Nice scores forestcorpse! I'm waiting for those Vàli albums as well. I'll probably get them when the new Falkenbach album is released.

Thanks ;)

I am so happy that the first Vàli album is available to get, the music is outstanding!
And a new album from them is warmly welcome!

I should order the Falkenbach soon myself, I am sure it will be great.

Yeah. Especially if it's as good as the Eweroun single.

You really liked that single? I stopped playing it before the song ended and immediately sold it again.

Yes. I actually think it is one of the best Falkenbach songs ever. You should have listened to it more than once. I didn't like the song at first either.

Here's some of my latest purchases:

Image

Ulver - Metamorphosis EP (Really fun stuff. Kinda schizophrenic, but I enjoy it.)
Blut Aus Nord - What Once Was, Liber I (Great to see this on CD, finally. Very intense stuff, quite unlike their main-works..)
Dream Theater - Dream Theater (Always exciting with a new DT-album. Let's see if this one is worth something!)
Gorguts - Colored Sands (Very impressed with this one! Really dissonant, but still highly memorable!)
Ulver - Live at Roadburn (Childhoods End was fairly good, so might as well give this one a try...)

Black Pyramid - s/t CD
Death SS - Resurrection CD
Cathedral - The Garden of Unearthly Delights blue vinyl
Amorphis - Privilege of Evil vinyl

Really glad the Amorphis EP got repressed, great stuff.

I just received Aeon Odyssey-Aeon Winds/Midnight Odyssey Split (Limited edition of 50 copies) I have not listened to it yet but the artwork is amazing.

Gris-À L'âme Enflammée, L'âme Constellée... I am on the 2nd track right now and so far it is amazing. The album is also super long, 83 minutes on two discs.

Yesterday I picked up an Oblivionized shirt, their split with Human cull, and a Brutal truth shirt at Hammer Smashed Fest. Was a great all dayer, had two stages. One was death metal, the other grindcore. Anoxide, Clunge Plunger and Dyscarnate were bands I liked despite not knowing them, and Wretched Soul, Oblivionized, Hour of Penance and Brutal truth were all really good too. Didn't get a chance to see Psycroptic or Extreme noise terror due to clashes, but had a good day anyway.

Got the new Anneke Van Giersbergen album, photo book and shirt in the post today too! I'm actually in the photobook, in the "Live in London" part, which is cool.

Sure there is. Bootlegs are usually live or rare stuff not released in any other way. From time to time those show up on this thread and are enjoyable.

Counterfeit pretends to be the real thing. Some care is taken to make sure it looks and feels like what it is pretending to pass as.

I know what you mean, but the actual definition of "bootleg" is "unauthorized copy". So a bootleg, be it a live recording from the sound table or a copycat CD from Russia is still called a bootleg. ;)

Correct definition of what was/is a bootleg.

Bought a lot of stuff over the last week or so. LPs too, which is rare for me.

Image

Got these LPs from Sound Garden with 5% off:

Carnivore - Carnivore
Carnivore - Retaliation
Obituary - Slowly We Rot
Obituary - Cause of Death
Obituary - World Demise

Ministry - The Nature of Love, My only Ministry LP. Got this from a special someone as a gift, you know who you are. :3 <3

The Hidden Hand / Wooly Mammoth - Night Letters, Picked this up for only like 7 or so bucks.

Image

Picked these up from Sound Garden too for 5% off each:

Ministry - Enjoy the Quiet - Live at Wacken 2012, Blu-ray version of this
Ministry - From Beer to Eternity, Got to say I'm not impressed with this album at all on first listen. Lacks the driving ferocity and riff onslaught of other better Ministry works, and that includes Relapse. At least they returned to their better logo.
Carcass - Surgical Steel, Also disappointed with this album too. I didn't hear the last two songs yet, but I doubt they can save this album. There was a lot of shitty solo/lead work that sounded melodeathish to me and it sucked. Plus the riffs in general weren't all that great, imo. Kind of generic and nothing really stuck with me. Although the artwork/song titles and lyrical themes are pretty cool. But Carcass is back? Please....no. And wtf was that horrible fucking solo-y intro? I really thought they were trolling us all with that shit when I heard it. Whatever.

Also I got the Obituary kickstarter too. The "Everything" package with the signed drum stick, vinyl and poster, CD and all the merch stuff. I have a good feeling about this new Obituary album coming out, they seemed to really put a lot of effort into writing it and a certain someone isn't doing guitar solos anymore for them, so that is only a good thing. Very excited about this.

Been buying a bit more than I should recently:

Impetuous Ritual - surprisingly good/semi atmospheric death metal that is of course Portal-esque but more rocking/evil in my opinion.
Vasaeleth - Full length and the EP. Fits the same kind of mood that Impetuous does, but with a different spin on it.
Stratovarius - Nemesis - getting more into this band then I planned on, and this seems like a very solid/shiny release
Watain - The Wild Hunt - I still going back and forth between "Hell Yeah!" and "wtf?!" Some nice bathory infusions, just seems a bit too different and out there at times.

Picking up random second hand odds and ends that I'd either traded, sold, or simply missed out on over the last decade and a half.

Desecravity - Implicit Obedience
Embryonic Devourment - Fear of Reality Exceeds Fantasy
Garden of Shadows - Oracle Moon
Gorelord - Force Fed on Human Flesh
Impaled - Mondo Medicale
Odious Mortem - Devouring the Prophecy
Perverseraph - Savage Messiah EP
Soilent Green - Deleted Symphony for the Beaten Down
Thy Serpent - Lords of Twilight/Forests of Witchery
Winter of Apokalypse - Solitary Winter Night

The Desecravity blew me the hell away, brutal and technical but with all kinds of weird micromelodies that make it stand out from a subgenre that really needs standouts.

And if anyone who loves melodic and sometimes doomy death metal hasn't heard Garden of Shadows, get on that. I used to pass this up at the music store thinking it was just another undefined and undeserving entry into the turn-of-the-century metal label startup olympics, but I was totally missing out. Thirteen years later, I'm glad I didn't forget about this title.

Dream Theater-Dream Theater (CD/DVD-A and 2LP)

I know I am a glutton for punishment.

This will be the last Dream Theater album I buy deluxe physical versions for "sight unseen".

I was probably one of Dream Theater's biggest advocates, at least maybe here on this board.

The last album was terrible because of the self plagiarism and christian/conservative lyrics.

This album rectifies the self plagiarism issue, but amps the christianity up to an absurd level.

I mean, the instrumental performance on here is astounding, despite some of the worst drum tones I've ever heard (seriously, the drum tone is a major disservice to Mangini's fantastic performance here).

But what, are they going for the "family bookstore" market? Aiming for a "frankincense and myrrh" record?

I mean "Enigma Machine" can't make up for something like "Along For a The Ride". It just can't.

Yuck.
