Huh, the link isn't working right now. I did see the album cover online earlier today. It looks like a serene Dutch landscape painting with a giant scary hairball hovering above it. Very weird.

Back in the day Entombed was one of my favourite bands. Unfortunately I've found it hard to get excited over a new album since Uprising (which rocked).

Is this supposed to be positive? who the hell writes something like that?

Anyway going to check this out in the hopes that it is mind-blowing.

It's the edgy way to say downtuned.

Yeah, detuned is kind of a misnomer, it's a (very bad) way of saying downtuned.

This is a nice surprise. I enjoyed left hand Path as much as the next guy, but I also loved the shift in sound they made shortly after that. Wolverine, To Ride, and Uprising were all fun records, with the other albums ranging anywhere from inconsistent to purely mediocre. It'll be interesting to see what's changed the band in six years.

That's a really cool album cover and the description of the record makes me feel optimistic. I just saw Entombed last month and they fucking killed it. They were one of the best bands at Brutal Assault. One of the most energetic, violent shows I've ever been to.

"While not falling for total regression back to the early classics 'Left Hand Path' or 'Clandestine',"

Well I'm out. That's the only two I give a shit about.

"expect a total bone-crushing opus that will have fans of 'Wolverine Blues', 'To Ride…' or 'Morning Star' cry tears of joy."

I don't remember anything on any of those that was bone crushing.

There are all kinds of rumours that Alex Hellid isn't in the band anymore, anyone that knows any more about this ?!

edit: okay, i found some info... http://translate.google.com/translate?d ... mbre-2013/

i guess we will have to wait for an official statement coming from Hellid himself :/

For those that wonder how the album is gonna sound like, here are Petrov's exact words

Quote:
I: Can you describe the new album to fans who have not yet heard a single piece? What can they expect? Do you think they will be surprised?

Lars: Yes, the record was not complicated, we spent 5-6 months working on new material before entering the studio. They can expect an aggressive and atmospheric album. They will feel fresh and spontaneous compositions. This is old school with a massive sound.

I: This new album seems calmer, less pushy than its predecessor. Have you changed something in the recording method or is it a clear desire to slow down and offer something else?

Lars: I think there's more feeling "Death Metal" in this new album, there are more dark and heavy songs, but I would not slower. There are also quite fast passages.

There's also this interesting little answer.... :)

Quote:
I: Speaking of alumni groups, do you think Nihilist could return one day?

Lars: It's possible. After all, look Carcass, also making a big comeback.

Freaking finally. They were spitting out releases at a furious rate up to Serpent Saints in 2007. Then almost nothing since.

I can totally see Nihilist doing some small club shows in Sweden nothing really much outside that though

Didn't see that one coming. Thought they had more or less quit making music!!
I'm not too excited about the album. I'm fairly sure it'll be something like Serpent Saints which in my opinion was pretty nondescript and weak, but I'm hoping they have it in them to surprise.
Looking forward to a potential promotion tour when the album's released so I might get to see them live again.

I'm not exactly holding my breath for it...

However, I will keep it in mind and give a song or two a listen on youtube when they are released.

LG can talk all he wants, but there's no chance that Nihilist will ever re-unite. I hardly think that Nicke wants to revisit that stuff.

Besides, Entombed have turned into another cover band... Now that there are rumours that Alex is out.

I'm not sure they're really just rumors, anymore. Their official Facebook page no longer lists him as a member.

It would suck if Hellid is out of the band. He's been the one constant member. He also seems to have been heavily involved with that Kickstarter style reissue campaign they've had going on.

The look of the album cover is nothing like the Photoshopped things I remember seeing on the rest of their more modern albums, so maybe that means a stylistic shift towards the times where Seagrave's art was dominant on death metal covers. Left Hand Path pt. II? No, that'll never happen. I couldn't get 30 seconds through that new Carcass album, so why should this be any different? We'll see, then.

The cover art really gives off a Malevolent Creation Stillborn vibe to me. Kinda weird, but it's okay. I haven't really heard any Entombed passed Wolverine Blues with the sole exception of Morning Star, which was a pretty decent album. I don't know if I'll check this out or not, but since it has been ages since their last, it could be worth it to. We'll see.

If the rumours are true then I'm kinda hoping they can manage to get Cederlund (ex-Entombed/Disfear) back in the band. That way they can can continue to go on with at least 2 original band members. Could be a new start for the band and it would be justified to carry on with the name Entombed with that line-up. Unless they are planning to pull the plug after releasing this album ?????? I also saw Entombed this summer (for the first time) and it was awesome, great setlist too, they're definitely not ignoring their early material live... They definitely have the energy to go on for another while, would be a shame if they decide to throw the towel into the ring... :/ There's no more Dismember, no more Vomitory, I assume the end is also near for Necrophobic?? And if Entombed is out too, then that will be quite a blow for the swedish extreme metal scene :(

Someone should just talk Nicke into getting both Uffe and Alex in on a Nihilist reunion with those two on guitars and Nicke on drums, bass and vocals.

True, but Grave are still going strong!
And Jonas Stålhammar from God Macabre is still active in Bombs of Hades

I heard a rumour Alex Hellid had walked, which could possibly fit into the 'technical' problems causing the delay. Hope that's not the case.

Very shitty news, someone needs to update the topic title btw !

anyone that has a hunch what might be the cause of the delay? Something to do with Hellid maybe ????? did he lost the master cd in his office of chaos ? ;p

Did you guys realized the fact that there are two entombed FB pages now ?

One, with 140 000 followers (www.facebook.com/TheEntombed) lists:

Alex Hellid / Guitars
Lars Göran "L.G." Petrov / Vocals

The second one, with "just" 3000 (https://www.facebook.com/entombedofficial) lists:

L-G Petrov Vocals
Nico Elgstrand Guitars
Olle Dahlstedt Drums
Victor Brandt Bass

Strangely enough, both seem to be, or at least claim to be official...I m sure some kind of big
row is on the go...
