This band seems to be a relatively unremarkable BM project. Relatively prolific, but on Depressive Illusions, not really high-profile, etc. However, there's a bunch of stuff piling up over the band that leads me to believe that their page is becoming the victim of a personal dispute, or drama of some sort.

Three "Should be removed" reports were filed for the band on one day:

And now a bunch of negative reviews are suddenly pouring in:

It seems oddly suspicious to me, almost slanderous... could a mod maybe check the IP addresses here and see if any of them match, or if any of them are using proxies?

We'll look more into it, but a quick preliminary tells me that those users are all distinct: Texas, Alabama, Washington DC, London UK.

Maybe that project is just crap?

Well, if it's signed to Depressive Illusions I guess that's always a possibility. The wave of "Should be removed" reports does make me want to raise an eyebrow to the whole influx of activity, though. Maybe more of those reviews will be submitted in a few days and then the scenario will be a bit more clear.

I remember this project. In late July this guy sent a PM to the MA Facebook page, claiming that the band was just keyboard ambient and that the guy behind it was a "huge troll", but didn't go into the specifics. The band was approved based on this demo provided in its entirety, which is raw black metal -for the most part, 2 intros, 3 songs- and has seen distribution through DIR (66 tape copies). I don't know the rest of the (sizeable) discography, but some of the other releases are consistently referred to as dark ambient on DIR.

Quite honestly, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the rest of the discography was ambient. Almost all the splits in the discography are with unlisted bands, presumably non-metal ones, among them one with Uruk-Hai. The question is whether three metal songs on one demo would be enough to keep an ambient band. Sigh.

The artist behind Noldor is an anti-fascist activist, and the reviewer is a NSBM artist. I looked at one of the reviews and remember approving it, seems acceptable. Seems to be quite a petty squabble there.

The band has three full-lengths, five splits, two EPs, and a dozen demos. One factor to be considered is that the metal material seems to have come out in a period of one or two months, depending on how many of those tapes are metal. If anyone familiar with the material could provide some guidance on whether or not anything other than "Gothmog" and "Valinor" contain metal, that would be appreciated.

Their Facebook page is also squabblesville, which makes me think the guy just likes to get in fights with people on the internet.
