Slayer-Haunting the Chapel

Been awhile since I've listened to them but this era of the band is the only one I really like anymore.

Portal - Omnipotent Crawling Chaos

There's some pretty sick riffs hidden in all of that aural murk.

Artillery - Bombfood (off 'By Inheritance')

Theres a relatively laid back vibe through this song. Good thrash, quite melodic.

"Offenbarung" by Paysage d'Hiver

It's fucking humid where I'm at right now. Need a cold one. Favorite song off the new album btw.

I want to join the Kamelot jizzfest.

I started with Epica. I remember the first time I listened to it I was a dissapointed "so, this is what is all about?". It didn't seem like much at first, I was like "It's ok I guess".
Needless to say, I was a dumbass, years later I gave another chance to the band (because one of my friends it's a total fanboy of them, he would suck Khan's cock if he had the chance, weird thing is that he's mostly a thrash/death kind of guy) and it totally kicked my ass.
I haven't listened to anything post-Black Halo Khan. Don't think I'm missing anything big, but, I don't know...

The Chasm - Cosmic Landscapes of Sorrow

Epic, melancholy death metal. I love it. I'm going to be acquiring the rest of this band's discography as soon as possible.

Ghost Opera is great and Silverthorn is splendid. Get those if you can.

You're not as right as you think. 'Ghost Opera', despite having some ghastly nu-metal riffing in places, also contains some of their best songs, such as 'Rule the World', 'Ghost Opera', 'Silence of the Darkness', and especially 'Eden Echo'. 'The Pendulous Fall' is a great song too, if you get the special edition. 'Silverthorn' was a surprisingly very good album, although admittedly I have to listen to it some more to be able to speak on it more knowledgeably. You're best avoiding 'Poetry for the Poisoned' though, a dismally languid and uninspired affair with a terrible, muddy production. The whole band just sounds so bored on that album. I'm glad they came back in force on the album after it.

I will give Ghost Opera a listen, then. Thank you both, guys.

I have listened to Silverthorn (because of the big deal with the new guy, he's good)

@Emp: You're welcome for reminding you of the existence of that Beyond Twilight album :p
Bloody addictive,innit?

NP: Outworld - City of the Dead.
I don't think this is quite as great as I did when I first heard it at 15, mostly cause I don't think solos that are 100% wank are impressive anymore, but it still holds up pretty well. Mostly because of KELLY FUCKING CARPENTER. You could put him in the shittiest band ever, and he would still somehow salvage it.

Yeah. Very well done stuff...I like how it doesn't compromise or anything; there are no metal cliches or anything like that. Just slow-burning, oppressive and heavy music with Jorn Lande's emotive vocals at the forefront. I think "Shadowland" and "Perfect Dark" are my favorite songs so far.

Excalion - The Wingman

Probably my favorite Finnish power metal band. They can't seem to do wrong. Heavy, melodic, hooky as hell...amazing band.

That album (along with Ark's "Burn the Sun") was my first exposure to Jorn. I can't say I got into anything else he's done, but I love those 2 albums.

NP: Aldious "District Zero"
Their upcoming single "Dominator" better not suck (I pre-ordered it like the retard I am)

NP: Gorgasm [Masticate to Dominate, 2003] - 04. Lacerated Masturbation (00:27/03:11) {294 kbp/s}
Well, it's brutal, but this seems like it's trying too hard to be as ridiculous as it can. Not bad though.

Hehe, I've been holding off on spinning Das Tor for the first time simply because of the weather. When fall settles in I'll finally be ready...

NP: Lutomysl - Decadence

More solid work from Lutomysl! Glad the pre-De Profundis material has some quality to offer. Loving the somewhat Blazebirth Hall vibe this has going on.

Emperor - Ye Entrancemperium

It's been a while since I last listened to this album. It still holds up for me. A classic of symphonic black metal.

I can't imagine I'll ever get tired of this. Great brutal death with awesome tracks. I look forward to how they'll go next time around.

Blut Aus Nord - Epitome XVIII

I fucking love this final album in the trilogy. Epic in scope, composition and grandeur - completely mesmirising and enthralling.

Morgion - All the Glory

Man these songs just go nowhere. Not to mention the spoken sections are lame as hell. About as shitty as Anathema's The Silent Enigma I guess.

27 - Brighter Days, from Holding on for Brighter Days

I am just about to lay down for some sleep and judging from this first song, this album should help me off to dreamland in no time.

Twisted Tower Dire - Killing Kind, off Netherwords

This is very good, but I have two complaints; 1) the drumming isn't as kinetic as in Crest of the Martyrs, and 2) Taylor sounds a bit too squeaky clean and nasal at times. It doesn't happen often, but I certainly prefer his COTM performance.

Dissection 'Where Dead Angels Lie' (off Storm of the Lights Bane)

Love every second of it, slow song with beautiful melodies. One of my favorite moments is the acoustic break leading into that wicked high pitched shriek.
