Whats some really spacey rock or metal like Hawkwind? Something that goes all out on the synths and hammond organs. I already know about Star One, Ayreon, and Space Mirrors.

Set your hyperdrive for Litmus, hard-rocking Hawkwind worship of the highest order.

Also, Farflung should be up your street:

And you may be interested in one of current favourite bands, Mugstar:

You'd probably like really early Manilla Road. Check out After Midnight, Invasion, and Mark Of The Beast

I definetly like Litmus. Farflung was also pretty good. Any other suggestions?

Is Voivod too obvious?

Try Gypsyhawk, everyone says they are like Motörhead and Thin Lizzy but I'd definitely put them with the stoner metal scene WAY closer to Hawkwind.

I already listen to Voivod, and Gypsyhawk sounds pretty good, but not exactly what I am looking for.

For rock try the first three Monster Magnet albums, lots of Hawkwind influence.

For something heavier UFOmammut is an absolute must. There is also a band called Ancestors who released an album last year I think which is a great space metal gem.

I've looked for this sound in metal a lot and had fairly little success. Aside from what's already been said, I can suggest some of Paul Chain's work. Also, this one solitary song by Sanctus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-9JWsPJrtA

If you're happy with more rock-styled stuff, I can also suggest Øresund Space Collective.

Woah, slow down a bit guys. I can't get to links as fast as I wish. So far, I do like Litmus, Farflung, and Enos. I'm checking the other links right now!

Hm, I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but it's the first thing that came to mind. Pyramidal, a psychedelic/space doom metal band. Really good stuff.

Surprised no one has mentioned Stratovarius. Melodic Power Metal about Time, Space, and Nature.

Sometimes a facepalm is not enough. Read the OP.

On a more positive note, some awesome recommendations above, outta which I only know of Litmus, Moster Magnet and Atoma.

Now that I finally got to these links, I'll check out Pyramidal, Golden Void, Ufomammut, and Øresund Space Collective some more. Sanctus is also pretty interesting.

Monolithe - Monolithe II might qualify, if you're into doom metal.

If you're into progressive with a bunch of keyboards, then Dan Swanö might quality, although I'm not convinced of the spaceyness.

Oh well, you'll see!

You should check out Brendon Small's Galaktikon, it's hard to define the style, but riffs are awesome and vocals harmonies killers, totally worth to listen
