I know I wanted the yellow orange one cause I felt it would also look the best in representing the album... well I waited a day to order and missed out on that one. I got the clear one.

Drag, sometimes people have no clue what they are even typing.

Am I blind or can you not order multiple copies of anything there?
The cart didn't have the option to change quantities that I saw

Also like how he totally glossed over how he said he hated the vocal style as if it was a new edition to the band, esp since his 'favorite' albums practically utilize it 100%

Wow, that was nice of Luc to do that. Seems like a genuine guy. Hopefully when he says that he's looking forward to sharing his music live, he means coming to Australia, too!

Here's an interview with Luc about the new record. Provides good detail into a lot of things like the album title, collaborations with Colin etc.

So, "Forgotten Arrows" is Colin Marston's song. Makes sense, but also pretty cool that he could more or less write a song that sounds like what Gorguts would do. Now I'm more excited to hear the rest of the record since THAT stuff is all Lemay's songwriting. Also, that guitar Luc is playing in the header picture is SEXY. GIMME NOW

Indeed! He really spiked my curiosity with that statement.

On an side note, Nero Di Marte sounds pretty cool! It has clearly its share influence of Ulcerate, but sounds almost like a power/prog album with semi-harsh vocals. Full album is available for streaming here. Not bad Luc, not bad. :)

here's another Luc Lemay interview (starts at around the 15:30)

http://www.metalsucks.net/2013/07/08/th ... ts-part-1/

yeah Colin wrote "Forgotten Arrows" and Kevin wrote the song "Absconders" while Luc Lemay wrote the rest of the songs

Just got through my first listen of the Nero Di Marte stuff, and I kinda agree with you! Dare I say, this sounds like a lost Mastodon album...? It's like instead of putting out Crack The Skye after Blood Mountain, they just made their riffs weirder and used them to write some cool tunes.

I know what you mean. The dissonant aspect reminds me a lot of later Ulcerate though, as do some aspects of the drumming style which are reminiscent of Jamie's work. And yet it sounds nothing like Ulcerate, if that makes any sense. Cool sounding album, I should be hearing more from this.

On topic, is it September already?

Maybe the seemingly dumb title will make more sense once we see the artwork? Still, a little bit strange. Then again, it's Gorguts.

Is it that strange? Or does it fit within the type of titles we see from tek-deth and other nu-core bands of late?

Let's analyze the term together: "nu-core" => nu + core.

Core? *core : deathcore, metalcore, indiecore, shoegazecore, etc. who knows

Nu: like nu-metal, "new" but also plastic and fake

This refers to the entire genre of hybrid metal, from alternative metal to nu-metal to metalcore to indie metal to shoegaze black to black punk, that is an impostor festering in the genre.

It's just a handy and accurate way to refer to all that shit, all of which is worthless.

Did that help?

Ah, so you're using it as a pointless collective term that has no descriptive value whatsoever. Figured.

Internet people are lame.

A pointless collective term would have nothing in common.

Maybe you just mis-read.

No, I didn't misread what you wrote. Nu-core is an idiotic term, it's certainly not an 'accurate' way to describe anything, and your explanation made it seem more retarded, not less.

Back on topic, I'm really hoping that a song written by Luc will be released soon. It would be interesting to see how it would compare to Forgotten Arrows, as I really, really liked that song and am hoping more of the album sounds like it.

That instantly reminded me of From Wisdom To Hate and is much more of a "standard" Gorguts track. The layering on that song is excellent, lots of the subtle harmony/melody that made the last two Gorguts albums interesting.

This track obviously leads into "Forgotten Arrows" as well.

Anyway, An Ocean of Wisdom is pretty damn tasty. Less off-the-wall riffage than Forgotten Arrows, but plenty of interesting texture. I dig it.

Goddamn of all times that I have only my laptop to attemp to listen to anything. I can't listen to the new song, it's going to make the remainder of these 2 weeks seem even longer knowing that. Fuck.

Conservationism, it's obvious you don't like any Gorguts since you still can't explain why you like the albums previously using the exact same vocal style that you said you didn't like. Maybe you shouldn't bother coming in here and getting all upset that everyone is making fun of you cause you haven't presented any valid or worthwhile arguement of why you don't like something other than 'you don't like it' At least when I'm in a thread of a band doing something I disapprove of I can fully articulate why I don't like something and have a conversation about it without making up terms that mean nothing to justify my feelings in some way that only makes sense to me.

SLK - plug in some headphones if your laptop speakers suck.

I have a feeling we'll all enjoy the album as a whole more than the individual songs, even if they two we've heard so far are really good :nods:

Dread you are my hero.

and I know that question you asked, Conserv, was not directed to me, but I think it sounds like something off From Wisdom to Hate. But you don't seem to be very familar with them.
