A Forest of Stars - The Blight of God's Acre

This something totally different. Acid black metal, nice psychedelic elements with alot of feeling.. I am definitely checking more of their stuff out.

Carbon Based Lifeforms- Interloper (LP). Not remotely metal but beautiful IDM/ambient. Perfect sound.

Primordial - Redemption at the Puritan's Hand

I love this band. Powerful, primordial, organic, and definitely original. Their live gig had an unexpected character, and wasn't quite what I expected, but in any case, it was a very enjoyable occasion. I need to find the two missing albums.

If you don't yet know Primordial, go to YouTube and remedy that. This is the best thing ever from Ireland. And yes, that includes Guinness and all of their whiskies.

Aura Noir - Sons of Hades

I've been on quite an Aura Noir kick lately - black thrash in general in fact. Consequently, this shall be the first album of the afternoon.

I agree with you on everything but the Guinness. :-P There's far better stouts out there.

Antediluvian - λόγος
2nd time listening through this album and I still don't get it.

Master - And on the seventh day god created...

I like it more than I would expect for something so repetitive and droning.

Edit: Their version of "America the Beautiful" is pretty amusing though XD

Jute Gyte - Discontinuities

Found this in the download thread, and I am sure glad I did. This is a brilliant album to say the least. Autothrall was pretty accurate when he called it a one man Sonic Youth, but with Burzumic influence.

Give it time. I was in the same boat as you when I first bought it, but now I love it. I would recommend listening to it with headphones on a lower volume so you can pick out the intricacies, if you aren't already. When I listen to it in my car it just makes absolutely no sense. Speaking of which...

Antediluvian- Nuclear Crucifixion (Turning the Spear Inward)

What a title.

On the Seventh Day... is really solid, but I've always been of the opinion that Master are a band who have gotten better and better with time; Try "Slaves to Society", "The Spirit of the West" - in fact, any of their later work, for some really solid, riff-heavy goodness.

NP: Evile - Tomb

Never have I experienced a band who manage to remain so consistently reasonable. It's the thrash equivalent of plain pasta.

Whips/Chains - Master/Slave

Features Ryan Patterson (Coliseum) on vox/guitar, Will Allard (Xerxes) on bass/vox, and Ben Sears (Black God) on drums. It's a s/sided 12" of sludgy, thrashing hardcore with howling guitars and dredging bass. Truly a force to be reckoned with!

I should but they never really click to me.

Cold Hate, Warm Blood from (1998) Cryptopsy - Whisper Supremacy.
Fuck the intro is sweet but REALLY short!

NP: Lux Carentes - Lux Carentes EP

Really interesting ponderous melodic black/doom metal. 'I Love You Sheriff Truman' is the standout track but it's all good.

Queued:

Celtic Frost - Monotheist

Probably the best album of last decade.

Pg.99 - Document #8 (first listen)

Don't listen to screamo often and this is one of the seminal records, so it will probably determine how much I explore the genre in the coming weeks.

Capitalist Casualties - A Collection of OOP [...stuff]

Capitalist Casualties are just fucking fantastic.

Carcass - captive bolt pistol. Their first new song in 18 years, and I love it. Can't wait for the album this fall.

Virgin Steele - Weeping of the Spirits

If not for "Life Among the Ruins," this is their best song ever. Would place in my top 10 metal songs ever probably.

Esoteric - Dominion of Slaves

Like the holocaust but in slow motion. Sixteen minutes of pure, brain-deteriorating oppression.

The Meads of Asphodel - Jew Killer

I hate posting so soon after my last post here but oh my sweet jesus (pun intended) - this album is absolutely amazing. This and the new one...definitely pushing metal in new, artistic ways without compromising what's good about it, i.e. the riffs and guitarwork. This album is full of metal to the bone riffing and beautiful, elaborate leads.

^^ The Meads can do no wrong. Though I'd like to claim to be a big fan, I can't really as I have yet to give the newest one a listen. Been so wrapped up in other amazing releases this year. I shall correct this soon.

NP: Swans - Avatar

Brooding, haunting yet so insanely epic. Coupled with a nice ol' bowl of medical, this song is taking me to another realm. I might not come back. I am ok with this.

Track 2 from these guys.

What the hell, man? M-A says they're doom/black metal, but I hear neither the tremolo picking nor the high-register vocals that are native to black metal. I don't know what's going on anymore! On an unrelated note, the acoustic stuff is very, very nice and melodic.

EDIT: Oh, there it is. Took ya long enough, song. But hey, still a good song.

Urfaust - In Den Weiten Öden Räumen

Holy fuck, why didn't anyone tell me how awesome VNG is? No way those Orchestra parts were made for the album though. I'm not certain about the ambient "Trauerhöhle" interlude. Anyone know where they're from?

these orchestra parts are exactly the reason the person responsible for them was kicked out of the band, he ripped off existing pieces and passed off as his own work. I don't know where they are from though

Damn, but yeah, pretty obvious that they can't afford an orchestra  Makes you wonder why they didn't realize it before relasing the album  But these parts really do work on the record.

I found out the following
"Dunkel, still von Ewigkeit" is actually "Simi" by Giya Kancheli http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSzubCqn4cI
Trauerhöhle is actually "Psalm 23" by the same composer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq47vAgW_Ho&pxtry=1
"In den weiten öden Räumen" is probably a Kancheli piece as well, but I didn't find out which

Time to check out this amazing composer.

Thanks, I'll try to keep those in mind. Master is definitely on my list of things to listen more of later, but today I have to take a break from death metal.. I hurt my ear yesterday listening to it full volume on one earbud >.< My ear still hurts so today I'm listening to something that doesn't need to be so LOUD.

NP: Amaranthe - Amaranthe

I love this, it's hard to sit still XD They're hard to classify, but I hear a lot of synthpop and the more pop-like end of the industrial dance music spectrum in their music - along with poundingly heavy metalcore-esque guitars. I think we're gonna see them in Philly in a couple weeks and that should be a blast - mosh pit or dance floor? XD

Oh yeah and I know I should be more careful with my ears. Lesson learned - lower volume from now on >.<

Warmarch - The Declaration

This is some fantastic and unusual Death/Black album.
The music is midpaced for the most part and is filled with catchy headbanging riffs, great varied drumming and some very good bass work

The Nordland albums are masterpieces. I personally love all of his albums, but those two in specific are so uplifting and empowering, as strange as that sounds. When I hear Ring of Gold I get shivers down my spine.

Autopsy - The Headless Ritual

I'm about halfway through this album, and it's been nothing short of excellent so far. Not a whole lot of amazing riffs, but the guitar solos/leads are PERFECT, and are used rather well as a tool to push the songs forward. I feel Reifert's vocals are much better than those on Macabre Eternal, and they weren't necessarily bad there. This album makes me want to go track down an old Gibson Victory guitar and melt faces.

Excellent track, I sense more WiTTR than Alcest in this one. I'm seeing these guys tomorrow night, and I couldn't be more excited.
