KOKIA - Yume ga Chikara (Acoustic Ver.)

Goddammit, KOKIA, why do you know how to write the perfect ballad?!

Yousei Teikoku "Gothic Lolita Propaganda"

I think I've played this album around 40 times now and I'm not close to being sick of it.

Sunrise - All This Time

This album is dreadfully mediocre and uninspired. And then there's this song, which demolishes every other track around it.

Peste Noire ~ Démonarque

Woah I'm really enjoying. So odd, yet so awesome. It's unlike any other black metal I've heard. Very unique. I love the atmosphere it creates carnival-esque.

Stormlord - Mare Nostrum

Amazing album that mixes black, death and power metal.

Svarti Loghin - Drifting Through the Void

A mixture of Pearl Jam and black metal, two of my favorite things. I must admit, the mixture is quite pleasing. Enjoying this quite a bit.

Vhol - S/T

This is one of the best things I've heard this year. The clean vocals could be a little less wimpy though

Darkspace - 3.11
The most interesting thing about Darkspace, for me, is that without fail, for the first minute or so of listening to them I always wonder what I see in this band as it comes across as a wall of noise and not much more. However, if I stick with it for a few minutes something clicks, and before I know it the album's over, and I'm sitting here awestruck and slightly confused as to what's happened over the last 80 minutes.

Dragunov wrote:
This is how I feel about the band as well. Darkspace is one of those bands where I can never remember anything about what a particular album sounded like, but I put it on again anyways because the one thing I do always remember is that I liked what I heard. Excited about future releases from this band.

Same happened to me seeing them live without knowing their music.

This is a vast improvement over the original... I like how they also fit the lyrics better into the song, since a lot of words are skipped in the original because they didn't fit.

(1994) Nordic Metal - A Tribute To Euronymous is a surprisingly good album!

Good old Sabbath!

My God Is The Sun from (2013) Queens of the Stone Age - ...Like Clockwork.
The first songs are quite slow but I'm glad they got rid of the (2007) Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris stridence.

It's leaked!?

NP: Forefather - Steadfast

One of the very few decent 'folk metal' bands. All of the happy ones just sound dumb and most of the serious ones are boring.

Queued:

Nuclear Death - Carrion for Worm

Primal, primal savagery. If super-raw death metal (in the loose sense of the term) is your sort of thing, then you probably know ND already but if you don't, they're well worth checking out.

Sodom - Epitome of Torture

Wasn't impressed first time around. Production was far too modern for my tastes. Hopefully it gets better.

Autopsy - The Headless Ritual

Can't stop listening to this one. Awesome album.

Sounds like what Heartwork should have been. Compared to what you listen today, it's not really impressive but it's nice to see that the guys at least are not doing that pile of excrement Swansong was. I hope the rest of the album is like this or even more brutal.

Warhead - The Lost Self and Beating Heart EP

Warhead takes the intensity of bands like Gauze, Lip Cream, and G.I.S.M., and goes even farther with it. Truly a band to be reckoned with.

That soundtrack is one of my favorite things ever! I was actually really happy that they included some of the Morrowind music in Skyrim. Especially when you travel to Solstheim.

Virgin Black - ...And I am Suffering

An easy contender for one of my 10 favorite doom metal songs.

It's a really cool album, glad to see you guys are liking it. I hope they keep on doing more creative stuff with that formula - there's a lot of untapped potential with it, much more samples and different types of music they could use. I think they will be really good if they keep it up.

Paysage d'hiver - Offenbarung. Really atmospheric, almost 'epic' track in a way... Digging it, on my second listen. Interesting and powerful music, highly recommended to anyone who enjoys bm, although a little repetitive at times (at least apparently, but maybe it is just me).

NP: Christian Death - Only Theatre of Pain

Classic goth album, certainly up there with Floodland.

Queued:

Naked City - Grand Guignol

I'm a much bigger fan of Zorn's wild free-jazzy stuff so I tend to skip the first few tracks on this but the rest is a treat.

Adorior - Author of Incest

Hyper-aggressive blackened death metal. The best parallel I can immediately think of is a less poppy version of Anaal Nathrakh. A very good album.

Antediluvian - the new album

I wasn't as huge a fan of 'Through the Cervix...' as many others seemed to be but such a hyped band are certainly worth checking out the new album of. Wasn't really listening first time I played it.

And what a monument The Chalice of Ages is  ...shame these death metal wizards split up. I want more!!!!!!!!!!

That's an awesome album, man. Romeo's Distress has some of my favorite guitar lines! (Most notably the "gazey" lead during the chorus)

The antithesis of easy listening. This is so claustrophobic and suffocating, I can hardly breathe. What a fucking masterpiece.

Votum - Harvest Moon

I love this album so much, I need to be in the right mood for it because it's bloody huge, but if I am it's wonderful. This album is everything I believe progressive metal should be about: great songwriting, smart complexity, some technicality, and on top of everything: atmosphere.
