The Black Dahlia Murder- Raped in Hated by the Vines of Thorn

This song... fucking sucks. You will not find a bigger TBDM fan than me, and I've always stood up for them and been an avid fan and collector of their material. But this song is very, very poor.

Lychgate - Sceptre to Control the World

So this is like the best thing ever.. Greg Chandler has to be one of the best vocalists in extreme music.

Vale of Amonition - Egypt After The Chasm

epic monster of a song that soars through incredibly interesting dimensions of sounds and weirdness. recommended for doomheads with a taste for randomness and multi-segmented tapestries.

Cage - Supremacy Of Steel

The songs are great but the production...ugh. Sounds really awful. Shame because the songs have some really good riffs in then and Peck is spot on with his vocals.

Goatlord - Voodoo Mass

Primitive and mean, ancient sounding death metal. Very dark and unnerving. An underground gem.

Bombs of Hades: Chambers of Abominations

Good album, thought it would be a tad more caustic in the d-beat department. But it's still good.

Believer - Sanity Obscure

Makes me sad how many write this album off as generic when there are songs like this here. Very fast and intense, yet the riffwork is not only incredibly tight in a way that brings to mind melodeath bands from years later, but instead dissonant in its harmonization.

Immolation - Furthest From the Truth

Absolutely grinding, intense and massive. Immolation at their best.

Primitive is an understatement. It's pre-Cambrian. It's still good, though I just prefer some of their later stuff.

Digimortal is good, but that song is not! It's the only one I skip. I want to get the edition with the bonus tracks, as I think they are better than a lot of the normal tracks.

That they are. I haven't gotten the newest one yet.

Pensees Nocturnes - Nom D'une Pipe!

What to make of this concoction of black metal and various other styles? It's, in a way, more accessible that the earlier albums, mostly due to the vocals losing some of their harshness of before. I would also say it's got the least amount of black metal of the three albums, showing Verohn is moving into other sorts of styles in a big way. It's a mish-mash of styles, no doubt, but I really enjoy this. One of the better albums of 2013.

Man, that song is so relaxed and spacey! I like it a lot.
(and I had to download the extra tracks, some of them definitely should have been included).

Guilt Machine - Green and Cream

Again with the spaciness. This is fantastic.

Inquisition ~ Magnificent Glorification Of Lucifer

I've listened to Ominous Doctrines like five times, Nefarious Dismal once, and now I'm checking out Magnificent Glorification. I can't get enough of this band. The crushing riffs and croaking hatred Dagon pours out is unbelievable and Incubus drumming is just amazing. Such a tight two piece.

I keep forgetting how cool Inquisition is. It takes some time to get accustomed to the vocals, but they makes some quality black metal.

Abyssal - Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius

A nice blend of death metal with slower, doom sections thrown in. It sort of strikes me as a blend of Encoffination and Portal, although they've got their own style going on. Production is perfect for what they're doing, too. I will have to pick up their debut at some stage.

Nostradameus - The Vision
It is amazing how awesome this is! Euro PM that is raw to the bone.
Nostradameus always impressed me with their Helloweenesque tunes that seem to defy the generic offerings of their Swedish ilk like Hammerfall.

King Diamond - Eye of the Witch

What to say, The Eye is propably the King Diamond album I return the most. Just the first song and my balls already froze. What happens when I get to Into the Convent...

Discharge - Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing

Do I need to say anything? This album is beyond criticism. Probably the best hardcore punk (and one of the best in heavy music) album of all time.

Steven Wilson - Deform to Form a Star

Basically a simple ballad (besides the fact that it's almost 8 minutes), but this song is just so atmospheric and beautiful.

I don't know, it's cool and a classic and all, but it's also pretty monotonous and boring at times. I mean it is pretty repetive and it's also kinda like a Crank movie in that it is full blast on attack mode nearly the whole time without ever really building or releasing tension. Like a downhill rollercoaster that just goes through loop after loop. Maybe d-beat just isn't my thing. The riffs are pretty good though. In any case I find early Black Flack to be much more interesting musically.

Just to make sure I'm consistent with myself,

See - what you described is what I love about hardcore punk. It is rage, power and anger all the time. To me that is what the best hardcore punk is supposed to be. Angry, obnoxious and vile. Some of the hardcore punk is like that. The early Black Flag singels and EP's, Discharge, Anti-Cimex, Skitlickers even some of the early NYHC bands. Sure there might be musical variety but most of the time it's power and aggression. That is why I love hardcore punk.

NP: Corrosion Of Conformity - Eye For An Eye

Another hardcore punk classic. Chaos, riffs, vile vocals and uber-fast tempos. Awesome.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg ~ Traveller

I've listened to Slough Feg's debut album and it was great. I was looking for sci-fi themed heavy/power/speed records and came upon this. Holy shit. I'm definitely gonna have to check out more of this band besides this and the debut!

Extermination Dismemberment - Survival

Massive slamming walls of sound. Similar to Katalepsy's new one but stripped down. Chocked full of knuckle-draggin' slams.
