I've been unable to put a finger on my metal tastes so please for the love of god, see what you can do for me. I like metalcore, melodic death metal, and nu metal influences as well so anything along those lines. I'll try my best to paint the picture of what I like, I'm not an expert with the terminology. The picture I paint might look like a crock of shit on your end, but don't let that stop you from giving me a polite suggestion. My favorite bands to date that I've been listening to recently go as follows; Sylosis, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Chimaira, DevilDriver, Attila, Parkway Drive, Static X, All That Remains(fall of ideals album), and Dethklok for fun.

Personally, I think I seem to gravitate towards groove-like or groove metal bands with a touch of other metal types. Most of the vocalists are usually not super growly but not too soft either with some brief moments of clean. I especially like the drumming of all the previously listed bands. They seem to mix their songs with a slight emphasis on the double-bass which is noticeable on a good stereo system or I'm just imagining things and love the sound outright. Either way, I love the fluid feel these bands seem to emanate for me with climbing, stacking, and slightly repetitive beats but not always all at the same time and not always separate. The guitar work also continues to amaze me but I can't really describe my preference. I just like whatever shreds really. That's about the best picture I can paint for you. Would appreciate any tasteful recommendations!

Also, just to give you an idea of why my music tastes are this way. Most the rock and metal I've listened to that has developed my preferences is from about 1995-present. I don't have much knowledge when it comes to earlier bands, so my tastes evolved accordingly to what I was exposed to.

Pretty much all the stuff you mentioned that I am particularly familiar with is groove metal and nu metal. You would probably like a lot of metalcore as well.

Here are some I think you may enjoy. Some of these have quite a bit of industrial in them which I assume is fine for you since you like Static X.

Cavalera Conspiracy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBtMzi9CijE

Soulfly (Like Devildriver it took them a few albums to get metal enough to be included in the site. You may prefer their oder stuff which has less death metal influence)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3ooqzw6qFw

Machine Head
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxjeqCd6Zm0

Fear Factory
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL36MHdnUsE

Electric Hellfire Club
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-BXTAPV_nE

Ministry
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYsBvZRXF7A

Revocation (Since you like Sylosis)

Gojira

Also check out later era Sepultura from Chaos A.D. onwards. Shadows Fall, and Callenish Circle and other melodic death and metalcore bands would probably work for you as well.

Those were quite helpful and I've dabbled with two of them before. I'll do a little more listening and see which ones I dig. Thanks for the links as well, Greatly appreciated.

By the way, I've never heard of Revocation and they got me buzzin my tits off right now. I think they are pretty good.

A lot of "djent" bands have groove-oriented riffing so you'd probably enjoy those bands.

is it me or do quite a few of these groove metal bands cross way over into the melodeath realm? I don't listen to nearly as much groove metal as I did some years ago, and I was actually enjoying quite a bit of this stuff (especially Cavalera Conspiracy-Inflikted title track, sick stuff) since it's been so damn long, but this is a bit different than what I expected for sure.
I hope the OP liked it, because I sure did

I'm going to recommend Demon Hunter here. Earlier work leans more nu metal, later more in the melodic metalcore vein.

And as more of a shot in the dark based on some of the other bands recced, The Showdown
