Hey, looking for some kind of melodic death metal. I hardly listen to this genres but I do know of the bigger groups, and like Insomnium, Kalmah, At The Gates and so on. Looking for something which has a kind of epic feel, hopefully very fast with mournful, eerie melodies. Happy for there to be some keyboards and aspects of black metal in there...

Thanks in advance.

Could you name us some bands to use as reference? Your request is a bit vague, but interesting. Hopefully some of these bands hits the target :)

Garden of Shadows: mid tempo and no black metal influence, but otherwise they fit everything else you asked for.

Dissection: I suppose you already know about them, but just in case...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-uM6oDkw8c

Before the Dawn: While their previous albums featured a more gothic sound, their last release actually seems to be a good fit for your request.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYfZa1gaWZw

Nightshade: Not to be confused with the Deathcore band by the same name. Like Children of Bodom with a melodic black touch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8KKssy7Tjk

Throes of Dawn: I've rarely seen this band described as melodeath, but this track in particular reminds me of Norther when it comes on a random playlist.

Slumber: Melodic Death/Doom. Eerie, mournful and atmospheric.

You need some De Profundis in your life, particularly "The Emptiness Within" album.

I always got an eerie feel from Cemetary's "An Evil Shade of Grey" debut album. It always gives me the impression of dark, undiscovered places. Maybe it's just me:

I think you might take a liking to Soulfallen. They're a symphonic melodeath/black band from Finland.

This might be straying too far from melodeath but these guys were a very epic and melodic black metal band called Asgaroth.

How about Horrified (Greece) - In the Garden of the Unearthly Delights, or Visceral Evisceration - Incessant Desire for Palatable Flesh?
