But there's blood and vikings and stuff! It's so obvious!

Skyrim isn't even that metal. Most of the game is bartering and menu trawling.

The best games for metal lovers are clearly Doom/Doom 2/Final Doom and Carmageddon 2. I don't think I should need to explain...

Nah. The game is great through to the end. I take it you didn't like the RTS gameplay?

Personally, my vote for the most metal game would be Katamari Damacy.

Dark Souls owns Skyrim IMO. Don't get me wrong, Skyrim is great and has beautiful graphics and a massive world. Dark Souls is the ultimate hardcore game though and the PvP/Co op system is really fun and unique. Not for the average player though, but if you can get past the beginning of the game it will get easier.

Kinda funny I just got Dishonored in the mail from gamefly yesterday, but after recently playing through Bioshock and Darksiders 2 I didn't feel like getting into another long game so I just sent it back right away... actually it's still in my mailbox, should I take it out?

Edit: Dead Space 2 and 3 are very metal too

I was kidding. Brutal Legend was pretty much a failure. Great soundtrack and voice acting pedigree, but it tried to be a million different things while not properly developing any of them.

I hear Dishonoured isn't very long at all. Those could be the rushers though.

As a video game it sucks, the gameplay is lame. It would had been a very good TV series.

I played stealth and it still only took me like 12-15 hours for Dishonoured, mainly because the last level or two are pretty direct and straight forward, so I burned through those in like half an hour each. It's a short game no matter what you do, it has no padding like Bioshock.

Clearly Parappa the Rapper is the most metal game of all time. You take martial arts classes with an onion man to beat the shit out of some thugs, and crash a car into everything in sight with a moose in the passenger seat.

Pfft, stand aside. The most metal game is Eternal Darkness. A love letter to Lovecraft, ritual sacrifice, monsters, war, magic, occultism, ancient civilizations, ruins, deep space, insanity, etc. All of which are indisputably metal subjects.

Actually, the most metal game ever is Painkiller; big fucking guns which employ unorthodox ammunition, demonic hordes straight out of a death metal album cover, and heavy guitar chugging as background music. Fuck, the game's called Painkiller. Judas Priest, anyone?

PS: Brutal Legend's cool.

Twisted Metal Black was both the best and worst thing to ever happen to that franchise. It thankfully took it away from that cringeworthy goofiness of the previous two and had very dark, atmospheric storylines that were almost all very well done, but at the same time it set the bar so fucking high that there was absolutely no way the series could ever come close to it again. And lo and behold, they never did.

the endings of Black were utterly phenomenal. The only time the franchise reached a sort of artistic peak. It got to the point where I would just use cheats to get to the endings of each character. So worth it.

Anyone else excited for Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon? I watched an IGN 15-minute gameplay video last night, and it looks like an insanely badass homage to 80's action and sci-fi flicks, not to mention Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens) voices the protagonist of the game. I'm really excited for it to come out next week Wednesday.

Here's the video for those interested; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZUueizrR0A

So, first time posting in this thread, and I'm wondering does anyone here emulate retro games? That's basically all play (besides the few new rpg's that I like). Just recently started playing Dossun! Ganseki Battle and for those who don't know it, it's like an action puzzle game for the snes. You basically choose one of three chracters than you battle using a tetris like set-up, various blocks fall down and you line them up. Lining three of the same block up creates an attack, a summon, magic, or healing effect depending on the block. For example, line 3 sword blocks up and a sword attacks your enemy, line 3 green ones up, and a dragon swoops down and hurts your enemy. You have a health bar as well. I've never played any type of puzzle game like this and if you guys know anymore similar to this, rec it to me!

Looks thoroughly badass. It looks like the game that Duke Nukem Forever could have been. I'm also digging the soundtrack. Ever since I watched Drive and played Hotline Miami, I've had a huge obsession with 80's synth music and Blood Dragon's soundtrack hits the spot.

Pretty sure this is the best game for metal lovers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPhJPwFPlOo

Dressing up to this music and winning fashion shows. Doesn't get any more metal than that. :metal:

More seriously, Silent Hill 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21s45Yel5VM

Put on your favorite metal song and watch this trailer with no volume. Fits perfectly. Although the trailer music is good too.

Beat BioShock Infinite today... And wow, what a mind-blowing ending that game had. I honestly loved every moment of it, especially the Americana setting and Elizabeth.

Afterward, I've been playing John Woo's Stranglehold on one TV while my roommate and I watch Hard Boiled on another. This game is simplistic but kicks major ass, I really enjoy the environmental destruction and Tequila Time. Really fun game for a $1.50.

For anyone who has played the Metal Gear series all the way through: would you consider Ocelot a good guy or a bad guy, given the entirety of the story? What about Big Boss?

Ocelot's in a grey area in my opinion. He wanted to fulfill Big Boss's visions no matter the costs. In the end, would it be worth it? Judging from the events of Metal Gear Rising, maybe not.

What we know about Big Boss for sure makes me consider him a hero. His next big game is coming up and we'll finally get to learn more about him as the story approaches his "villain" phase. Was he truly a villain or did the Patriots paint him as a villain?

The period MGSV takes place in is about the time where Big Boss started training child soldiers. I wonder what his motive will be.

Mars: War Logs is pretty fun so far. Essentially it's "Witcher 2 meets Mass Effect 2/3"... only on a significantly smaller scale (read: budget) than those games. The voice acting is mostly pants and the graphics are a bit monochromatic... but the actual game mechanics and story are proving far more engaging than most AAA games of today. I'm definitely finding it worth the paltry sum of $20 I paid (although apparently it was only $6 through spendthrift gamer champion "Green Man Gaming", buuuuuuuut I'm more than happy to support tiny independents like Spiders so I don't really regret paying more.)

Check it out!
