For a long time now I've been getting a big kick out of downbeat classical accompanied by harsh and/or grating backing beats.
The epitome of what I'm looking for sound-wise is:

However, these artists have only put out a few tracks in this vein. Ideally, I'd be looking for an artist that put every other track out like this, if possible. Still, I'm willing to settle for anything if it sounds good.

The more moody the better!

See, in mood, Digitonal is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. And in rhythm, Amen Orchestra is exactly what I'm looking for (although the songs themselves have some really fucking cool instrumentation, at that). If there was an artist other than Venetian Snares that somehow combined the two, that would be what I'm looking for. ;p

I already know, and have listened to almost all of Aphex's stuff.
But thanks anyway, man. It's definitely in the right direction!

I love all of Igorrr's stuff, and although he's not what I'm looking for in this case, more artists like him would be great.

Not sure if the beats are 'glitched' but there are some odd time signatures in this symphonic metal

Reminds me of a symphonic Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects, heh.
