So the NWOBHM band Satan will be releasing their new album, "Life Sentence" at the end of April, with vocalist Brian Ross. I for one can't wait, as I loved "Court In The Act". They'll be premiering a new song, "Siege Mentality", tomorrow (March 26) at http://aardschok.com. I am definitely looking forward to it.

Here's the amazing cover art done by Eliran Kantor (Sigh, Testament, Sodom...)
Spoiler: show

Can't wait to see these guys in August, they'll probably play the entire Court in the Act album or at least, I hope so!

And speaking of Brian Ross and NWOBHM, I'm hoping we can also get another Blitzkrieg album. It's been about six years since "Theatre of the Damned".

I couldn't be happier with this song! Sounds like it could fit right along side Court in The Act. If the rest of the album is this good, this will be a contender for best album of the year, I'm sure!

Seconding that. Holy fuck. Expectations set REAL high for this one.

The only "comeback" album that MIGHT beat this one is Toxik's. Doubtful.

I could have sworn the that I read it was Michael Jackson that did the vocals on the new one.. but I'm glad it's not, I love Court in the Act and Suspended Sentence didn't really do it for me. The new songs sounds like pure Satan and I'm glad the vocals haven't changed much from Court...

Also, thanks Wedge_Antilles for mentioning Blitzkrieg, didn't know about them, can't get enough of Brian's vox.

Great song! Really glad they are back.
It is funny/weird how long these NWOBHM bands take between albums.
New Demon album, anyone?

New song definitely sounds cool. And what's more, it's got an appropriate product job! Incredible! Imagine that; an old school metal band with an old school sound! Praise Satan, Lucifer is King!

I approve. This is awesome stuff. I feared modern influences would show but this sounds like classic Satan through and through. Expectations are a little higher for the overall album.

Any recent (past few years) clip on youtube I've seen of Satan live, Brian Ross sounds really good.

The entire album is amazing. I can't see how anybody could be disappointed with it. "Siege Mentality" is one of the stronger tracks, but it's pretty consistently great thoughout!

I've always been more familiar with a lot of the names from the NWOBHM scene and their impact and influence than the actual music itself, Satan obviously being one of them. Although this is only my first exposure to them, I'd have to agree that this definitely rips! It's got a bit of an early speed metal vibe going on with that main riff and while that's a good enough hook for me to start with, there's a lifelong experience in this band's existence so I feel they've got even more tricks than that up their sleeves. Definitely going to need to dig further to see what else I've been missing out on.

Great song. By itself it's really well written and performed, but it's amazing how much it sounds like it came out of the 80s, production wise, vocally, etc. That's just jaw-dropping.

Dude, if you like NWOBHM and speed metal, listen to Court in the Act. It's been forever since I've listened to that album, but it remains one of my favorite albums ever. Satan rips! Check out A Time of Changes by Blitzkrieg as well, you won't regret it!

Well, this is my reminder to finally buy their stuff. I'm looking forward to the new Blitzkrieg, also. Brian Ross is a busy chap for his age.

I was also surprised bordering on amazed that this is completely the same lineup from Court in the Act.

(edit)

Dude, they posted a studio update last month. Check their website.

They already proved that in the 1980s - albeit with a different singer - and I guess there's that Blind Fury album, too. Don't neglect their post-Ross stuff, dammit!

I don't know ANA, I remember being quite underwhelmed by their second album the last time I listened to it. It's been a long time though, so I could give it another opportunity. Never checked out Blind Fury either, so there's also that, yes.....

Damn, guess the next couple of days will be "Satan Time" for me

Like the first track, this one did not disappoint. Don't want to base anything on two songs but I have a feeling this may be 'the' album to look out for. Thanks for the share, Gunther.

Second song is much much much better, more in vein of Court in the Act. I'll be waiting for this release, hope it's good.

Jesus (Satan) this is even better than that first song. Getting this for sure. Such a classic sound, harmonized guitars and metal up the ass.

There's a vibe in this thread that suggest "ya'll ain't know" Satan has been the shit since forever.

Furthest thing from a one-hit wonder in my mind. They've been putting out low-key classics under the name Pariah for years now. I can't speak on Unity or whatever it was called but Suspended Sentence, Out of Reach, The Kindred, and Blaze of Obscurity are all great releases and they never faltered in the production department, always kept a gritty tone and an overall job that begs to be turned up and up.

Stop snoozin'.
