I'm pretty new to grindcore and am looking for groovy, punky grind like Nasum, Gadget, and Birdflesh, stuff that makes you want to mosh and headbang. No pitch shifted vocals please, or keep them to a minimum.

How extensively have you looked through this thread? It's a veritable goldmine for newcomers to the genre. Off the top of my head (my knowledge isn't nearly as extensive as some others), you could try Blockheads, Afgrund, Wormrot (I fucking love these guys), Assuck (essential listening), Suffering Mind, PLF, Insect Warfare, In Disgust, Nashgul, Captain Cleanoff, Sayyadina, Magrudergrind...

MOSH MOSH MOSH

SENIOR MOSHOLOGIST HERE.

YEAH NASUM GETS THERE JUMPDAFUCKUP, BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT INSECT WARFARE AND THEIR LITTLE BROTHERS IN CELLGRAFT - EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE MORE ON THE METAL SIDE (THEIR ONLY LP'S GOT SOME SERIOUS DEEP LAID GROOVE). SEWN SHUT IS ANOTHER REALLY HEAVY, DEATH METAL-Y BAND THAT EVERYONE PRETENDS DOESN'T EXIST AND KICK ASS, BUT THEY DO- THE PROOF'S IN THE MIDPACED GURGULEY GOO. FURTHERMORE THERE'S IN DISGUST, MAGRUDGERGRIND AND WORMROT (THEIR 2ND LP FOR SURE) WHICH BRING IN A NICE DOSE OF POWER VIOLENCE AND HARDCORE.

CHECK OUT SUFFERING MIND... THE BEST STRAIGHT GRIND BAND OUT THERE...THEY'LL GET THEIR GROOVE ON LIKE IT AIN'T NO THING (CHECK OUT THE S/T).

AS FOR MORE PUNKY, CHECK OUT SIX BREW BANTHA, TRIAC, EXTORTION, AND NASHGUL.

AN OLDER GEM OF JUMPDAFUCKUP GLORY IS RIGHTEOUS PIG'S 'STRESS RELATED' GET ON THAT SHIT.

IF YOU'RE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT UPPING THE PUNXXX THEN DELVE INTO FASTCORE AND POWER VIOLENCE LIKE SPAZZ, ASSHOLEPARADE, INFEST, DESPISE YOU, LACK OF INTEREST, NO COMMENT LYCANTHROPHY, ETC. IF YOU WANT SUPER BEATDOWN BRO INSPIRED SHITFEST-FUCKAROO CHECK OUT WEEKEND NACHOS, SEX PRISONER, MIND ERASER, BACKSLIDER NAILS, FALSE LIGHT, FAITH ADDICTION, AND HATRED SURGE.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE ANY OF THESE BANDS, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF...IT'LL KILL ME INSIDE.

Pretty good Seattle Fastcore stuff, they've played with Six Brew Bantha a couple times. Also it's a friends band.

I know no one cares but Sarah from Spoonful of Vicodin is starting a new band. Going to be rad.

you're right. no one cares :violin: kidding. Just never liked that band's name.

nice weather brings out my need for some serious grooves and back beats. if it ain't got that, don't want to hear it!

Guys got anything up your sleeves like Repulsion/ terrorizer? Grunting sing along grindcore with bits of groove and dbeats?

Been really enjoying Plague Widow... love the Vorkreist meets Dying Fetus (era Grotesque Impalement) vibe. Can anyone recommend something similiar? Like filthy black metal in a grindcore setting? It made a nice continuation to the Nathrakh streak I've been on, and it wasn't too rattly or hissing, nice thick mix.

A quick search of this thread didn't really turn their name up but apologies if I've missed it and this is a familiar request. Thanks in advance :D

Thanks for the quick recs. DI's cool, i've never been a fan of this kind of style... but I should give it more time (although I'm not a fan of the vocals).

Bone Sickness is rad, it's like some lost Death Strike demos or something. Not grindy enough though!

Not a fan of disassociate... although the use of some really 90's west cost sounding punk riffs with death metal vocals and metal drumming is a bit interesting.

Headless Death's dope. would love to hear a bit more of a polished ep.

By all facts of life and the sheer gravity of reality, I should like Fukpig. But I don't. I hate their production and it feels like they're riding the high of a particular niche that's not done enough. That said, here's some stuff you might dig.

Knelt Rote's the best thing you could hope to find. First LP is fucking amazing. Grindcore with a huge dose of noise and black metal filth. As they went on they've incorporated more of a war metal/ death metal sound. Not to say they've gotten worse, but their first LP is the perfect marriage of black metal and grindcore.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIRMoI4z ... AE55382D12

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xahRbQEg0oo

Hellacaust
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXgQO_Ek1WM

Infernal Stronghold They get a bit thrashy and aren't always fluid mixture of genres. But an awesome band regardless

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRrbSzJGc4w

Wojtyla. It's definitely not that black metal, but the vocals could fall in that realm and the music's fucking dirty as shit. You might dig it.

Haha I don't really like Fukpig either (terrible name) but I see them rec'd pretty much any time Anal Lunchsnack comes up so I figured they'd work for dude.

Also, despite everyone's huge boner for them, I don't really like Anal Nathrak.

Anaal Nathrakh is one of the most overhyped bands on this board (or they were), people should start referring to them as Anal Naptime

and Anaal Nathrakh is overhyped but I do like everything they put out. They just aren't life changing how many people claim.

boys, it's Anal Neckwraith first off.

Second off. they have had some real bright spots. But as time goes on their newer stuff really doesn't hold up, and the good old stuff is far and few in between.

The demo collection, Total Fucking Necro, is usually what I find myself listening to if I want to hear the band. The vocals are absolutely killer and the grimey guitars can be really great.

Examples of awesomeness.
Submission is for the Weak (from the John Peel Sessions)

Necrodeath
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OCnAxnCmYc

Satanarchist (newer version)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDvd4LxSz4I

and their Mayhem cover of DMDS is fucking awesome. Dude does such a great job with mimicing, but changing up Attila's vocals

Holy shit are they good.
I think Brodequin stole the riff from "From The Anatomical Deeps", cant pinpoint it exactly, but I know I heard it before. They covered it, most likely.
EDIT...yeah, they did.

Sorry about the late reply! thanks again man! i ended up finding all of Dahmers stuff! (after a while of searching a friend from the states uploaded it for me) so killer! and i get to see Super Fun Happy Slide live this sat at Obscene Extreme Australia! so pretty pumped about that

So Water Torture is playing with Nails, Xibalba and Early Graves on Sunday the 28th. Two days later Water Torture is playing with Six Brew Bantha, Pizza Hi-Five and some other band.

I don't know if I can make a choice.

Nails are cool.. although with the amount of production on their stuff... I wonder how it'd hold up live. PHF and SBB, however, would probably hit every expectation (seeing phf playing a bass instead of a guitar was pretty rad).

xilibilthalataringdong suck though, so there's my two cents.

Know Fukpig and can really dig 'em from time to time. Being British may help, as they really do tap into the utter, utter loathing and disgust any self-respecting Brit should feel at our "culture" and "leaders".

But thanks for all the recs guys. This thread is very helpful, I'll be back ;)
