Anata - Better Grieved Than Fooled
Still waiting for their new album but apparently legal issues have been holding it back for years.

Splendid Finnish doom. this track in particular sounds very airy and relaxing, for the most part.

Blind Guardian - Curse My Name, off At the Edge of Time

I picture a group of merry Gypsies singing and playing around a fire every time I listen to this song. It's a nice image.

I more thought of a mob of Frenchmen waving tricolors, dancing, singing, and drinking as they drag Louis XVI to the guillotine.

That's a better mental picture. Mind if I take it? :-P

Alice in Chains - Grind

This is becoming one of my new favorite albums...perfect seedy Southern-style melancholy.

Saint Vitus - The End of the End

The whole born too late album is an absolute classic, but the opener, and this - the closer - are probably my favourite tracks from it.

Dimmu Borgir - Sorgens Kammer Del.2

Definitely my favorite Dimmu song post-Enthroned Darkness Triumphant. If their modern sound was as evil and dark as this they would probably be one of my favorite bands. Everything about this song is just so disturbing, especially Shagrath's vocals sounding as demonic as they have ever been.

Bathory - Hammerheart

I've neglected Bathory too much in the past so I figured I'd check out more tonight, and fuck! This song is mind-blowing say what you will about "viking" metal, this song is a fucking masterpiece. The vocals, the lyrics, the instrumentals they all just hit me perfectly. And being an actual germanic neo-pagan, needless to say this song really touch on some spiritual elements for me, really brought out the pride in me for my culture and gods. My skin was tingling as certain points.

Wormed - Tautochrone

Been spinning Exodromos all week long. Damn near flawless album, imo. Reminds me of Cryptopsy at times with the riffage and song structures, only way better executed. Vocals did take some getting used to, but I do enjoy them quite a bit now.

Hammerheart is the album, not a song. But I can almost psychically assume you're referring to either One Rode To Asa Bay or Valhalla, although I could be wrong. The whole record is epic as shit! I still revere Bathory's earlier works more. Great record though!

As for me.... DISSECTION - THE SOMBERLAIN

This album is seriously growing on me. I'm loving it. That closer is something special.

Decapitated - Organic Hallucinosis

Great album, although now bittersweet with the death of Vitek and the brain damage of Covan. Even though they greatly modernised their sound for this, I still think it's quite a punishing album.

Warbeast - Destroy - The Day Of...

I have had this album for a few days now but have not had the chance to check it out. Listening to it now for the first time. There are some really punishing riffs on here. I do think the lyrics are a bit cheesier on this release than the last but not bad enough that It ruins the music for me. I'm sure this album will grow on me with more listens as i become more familar with it but my initial reaction is that I'm into it.

Onslaught - Contract In Blood

Onslaught really became a bit Destruction-ish on their second album. It's fucking great.

Charon - Flagellum Horribils (Trident Lash)

Fucking hell!! :headbang: THIS is intense as hell, full of face ripping, violent destruction in audio form. It reminds me of the first time I heard Adimiron Black waaay back when, with it's death metal, razor wire song craft - only uglier (in a good way). Damn good band.

Altar of Plagues - God Alone

Weird, this is sort of growing on me. The song itself is quite obnoxious, but the mechanical guitar sound gets pretty entrancing after a while.
