This is the last place I've gone to to ask, but it sinfully should have been the first, because local talented/creative/intelligent musicians are a dime-a-dozen. Intelligent and talented metalheads are even rarer. And creative/ambitious metal musicians are even...well, you get the point.

I play drums in my Death/Thrash band Cataclysmic. We are only a two piece band stationed in Durant, Oklahoma, which is pretty much in the middle of butt-fuck Egypt nowhere. No metal scene whatsoever. That is what makes us unique! We live about 30 minutes from the border of Texas, which has MUCH better activity for heavy metal. We managed to put several shows under our belt - in both states, in the summer of 2012. We participated in Lawton, Oklahoma's Battle of the Bands on August 18th, 2012, and we even got mentioned on the radio for BOTB several times! have three solid reviews of our 6 song demo "Masked Insanity". One on metal-temple.com, another on thrashmetalguide.com, and the last one from Lawton Constitution. You can listen to our entire demo exclusively on youtube. Here is my two personal favorite tracks, just so you know what you're looking at here.

Slay The Emperor (8.5 min. opus): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYzn_vYwVkU
Haunted Sanctum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFgjUW8Hdd8

These things prove that we are ambitious - even if it's just the two of us. Metal is our blood and soul. Our meat and potatoes. We have juicy and explosive ideas for our EP this year, and want to constantly keep progressing and evolving our sound to gain a mature and firm footing in the future of metal. We dont care about all the mediocrity of mainstream metal acts and the meatheads that spoonfeed themselves it. We want to grow and mature, and since we are both 18 we have lots of room to do that.

We've only ever tried out one bassist, and he was a total failure. He was used to playing deathcore shite and just couldn't handle the speed. He would be sweating oceans and breathing like he had asthma after ONE song!!! I think he actually passed out at the initial practice. His final exit from the band resulted from breaking his wrist at Mayhem Festival in a MOTORHEAD moshpit...he bitched out of our very first gig. How one manages to achieve this level of shame is beyond me. The point is WE MAY NEED YOU!

We specifically want to be a three-piece for now. We may need YOU to achieve this goal. The perfect Cataclysmic line-up ready to execute swift force and emotion that bands like Anacrusis and Destroyer 666 possess. If you are willing to try out as our full time bass player, then respond to this post with your location, how long you've played bass, possibly a video of you playing, and maybe some extra information about musical tastes/interests (perhaps some of your favorite bands - influences are a major contributing factor).

I hope to see something promising unveil itself here.

Heh, your Heartwork cover is awesome! Heavy ass bass tone on some of your other songs. If only you didn't live on the other side of the world!

EDIT: Thanks Zodijackyl!

Decided to change our minds about being simply a 3 piece. We've found a very fast-learning rythem guitarist that has certainly changed our minds. All we need is that bass player to be complete...

So, Maniac Matis, still no luck? If you guys move to Mexico, drop me a line. Been a bassist for the last fourteen years.

Sadly. And just for an update, I'm back down here in Oklahoma. I flew down here two days ago and we're ready to begin the writing process anew and start completely fresh with a new direction and renewed passion. We want to stick to our thrash roots, but at the same time, we don't want to prevent our own progression as musicians. We havn't written any new material yet, but judging from the improvisions Brandon and I have been jamming, this EP is going to be something in vein of progressive blackened death/thrash! Super cool stuff. I wish we could find a way to get you up here!

And for the record, I got a kick out of the "drop me a line" thing, I think if you were to become our bassist you would be the one dropping us lines. :-)

UPDATE: We have three songs written for our new release so far, two of them exceeding the 8-minute mark and one is a 6 minute instrumental. Decided to upload one of the songs to youtube in a video format just to give people an idea of the change in sound and direction. Check it out if you'd like. We're still looking for a bassist.
