So, this most awesome series is due to start in a fortnight and the trailer has got me more than excited.

Talk about rumours, expectations, appreciation for the adaption and episode reviews of the new season here.

It will probably be better than Legend of the Seeker.

Just recently rewatched the series in advance of season 3. Kinda glad I did, because watching the second season all at once made it feel a lot less fragmented and shitty than it had when it first aired. I mean some of the original problems (thin writing in places, some dull segments, some mishandled events/characters, some lame filler) were still there, but at least the story seemed like it flowed better and cohered a lot more. Definitely looking forward to the next installment, I think the decision to focus the series on half a novel instead of a whole will help keep the quality level higher and allow for a more developed plot.

Got into GOT a couple of months ago, and I'm searching high and low to find the books, so yeah, color me excited about this.

:ugh: :ugh: :ugh: I gave up after 2 episodes and I was a fan of Sword of Truth when I was a teen. The series was insulting.

For the readers of ASOIAF:
Spoiler: show
Can't wait to see when they'll do the Red Wedding (end of the season, 9th episode, 1st of the 4th season...)

Also, this is fucking awesome

I should probably do this, too, considering I read all the books in between. That was .. a lot of pages. I imagine breaking it up will do a lot to help. They had to rock-skip through so much material, it's a wonder it wasn't worse.

Hopefully this season has more action, and that sadistic brat Joffrey gets a painful decapitation. I'm entirely not interested in that side story with Melisandre, overall one addition that was highly unnecessary and detracting.

Nah. GOT is interesting because of the characters' personal agendas and the ways they try to fulfill their objectives, not because of its action. Now, don't get me wrong; the action sequences are anything but bad (seeing Sandor Clegane chopping people in half was especially cool), but I prefer them in small doses.

I like that aspect too but I would really dig a couple of battles as opposed to one that takes the entire season to begin. I hope we see more of Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane. That man is unstoppable.

I don't like the fact that the guy who played Gregor originally isn't part of the cast anymore, though. The first actor who portrayed him looked far more vicious than the current one.

He probably wasn't a very good actor, that's the issue with characters who are getting more developed later on in the story, you cast smaller actors for them at the beginning. I can't think of good examples for this but I've seen it before.

Mmmmmm..... That's understandable. Meh, if the current actor is capable of convincingly pose as a roaring, violent titan, then I'll be satisfied. Seeing is believing though.

Really!? I had no idea they changed him. All this time I was anticipating his return in each episode and he was there as a different actor. It's a shame they chose someone else because for me there are three very memorable scenes in the first season - the first decapitation by Eddard Stark, the burning of Viserys and the horse slaying by Gregor.

Man, the trailers for the new season have sucked a fair bit. Also saw a huge billboard poster for season 3 in Manhattan the other day that looked like it was designed in Photoshop in about five minutes. What the hell.

Hehe. That 1995 spoof is pretty funny. It has one glaring flaw, though: no sex at all. The text is the steamiest thing there. :nono:

Nah, the flaw is that it was probably made by someone who's too young to remember the '90s, because the whole thing screams '80s, not 1995. '80s on an old VHS, actually...

Flaws: There Can Be Only One!

You're right, though, I'd place this at about 1990-91.

That torture scene they keep teasing is going to be brutal from the looks of it. Hopefully it's not too hard to watch, yeesh.

I know that as a Jason Momoa fanboy you're more of a Khal sort of guy, but I for one cannot resist Rose Leslie's ginger wildling charm. :D

Edit: 0:40 in the trailer is where it's at.

I hope they cast Roose Bolton well, but I doubt they will. One of my favorite characters.

+ haha! After reading the books, I didn't even recognize Robb in the preview. Man, the ages are off.

I think he's just :ugh:ing because you come across as the kind of brain-dead "hurr hurr boobies lol" moron that HBO panders to so pathetically. Basically, you're... that guy.

...Roose Bolton was cast in S2... did you mean Ramsay?

pff .. um .. in that case I missed something. I'm double checking my episodes.

edit: huh .. I'm not missing anything. Probably didn't know who the hell he was when I saw the episode .. read the books after. Going to rewatch anyway (except Qarth :guns:).

Yeah, yeah I get why he did it. It was obviously said tongue-in-cheek, I was insincerely coming across as 'that guy' though I realize that's not everyone's idea of an amusing comment.
If it makes a difference, I'd be equally content with a fully naked Tom Selleck cameo. Beautiful people will be beautiful people, after all :)

Well, if they respect the books, there's a bath scene involving Jaime  and Brienne but I'm kinda pissed at all the unnecessary nudity in the show and I really hope they removed the awful Ros whatever character.

It's a nudity scene, they usually don't forget to add these! HBO has a "boobs quota" to respect.

I haven't read the books, but a bath scene sounds like something they're likely to remain faithful to.

Female nudity, aye. I don't expect to see Jaime naked at all... which is unfortunate as he is insanely hot and if guys are to have so much fanservice, it'd only be fair. But they didn't have Jaqen in the bath so they probably won't have Jaime either. :P

Season 2 was a lot better when I just recently rewatched it. I can't really put my finger on why, I guess just watching it more quickly made the scattered nature of it appear more seamless. Can't freaking wait for more episodes.

Yet another trailer, pretty long (1:30):

Lots of action shots, though no doubt slightly cherry-picked. Still, exciting. That Unsullied army...
Spotted Daario in there. He looks more in line with what modern young females might find attractive than what's described in the books, haha.
