Bathory's Blood Fire Death and Ukrainian outfit Чиста Криниця's Симфонія Життя. I also recall seeing the same piece of artwork Blood of Kingu used for Sun in the House of Scorpion somewhere else as well, but I can't remember off the top of my head, oh well.

That Чиста Криниця band (Chysta Krynycya in English) also used the same artwork on their previous album that Abigor used for 'Channeling the Quintessence of Satan'.

This is a pretty entertaining thread!

I don't think those are the same - the arms are in different positions on each cover. It looks like one is a ripoff of the other.

They apparently used the same picture for the wings though.

It would be strange if they were still the same

to be fair, these artists are musicians - how many amateur animators use ready made music from band x instead of coming up with an original score?

(i'm not saying i approve of the ripoffs etc. - just playing devil's advocate)

Slasher Design, who has done many metal album covers apparently uses the the phrase "original art" in very loose manner. He's cut and pasted from many artists and some of his clients and the artists are not too happy.

Simon Marsden's shot of Craighall Castle in Scotland got used on a few different covers.

Especially amusing because they have the same band name and both were released the same year:

I forgot which band it was, but "The Blackening" by Machine Head has it's artwork ripped from another band. (I can't find it)

That's back on page one of this thread. Funeral Mourning is the band, unless someone else used it.

I just put this on another post but Sleeps second release is just the Vol.4 album cover

I don't see any benefit in doing this sorta thing, no one will take the album at its own face value. Vol. 2 does have a live cover of Master of This World though (even though its a Master of Reality track)

Church of Misery did the same thing with Volume 1. I wonder who did Volume 3 then...?
