Although I also submitted this as a possibility for the compilation CD Big Grand is putting together, I'd like some general feedback from you guys if possible on a track my band recorded a couple of weeks ago. It isn't anywhere near perfect, but I think it gets the general idea of what we are going for across. We're currently looking for a new guitarist, so the vocalist handled the rhythm parts. I'm on bass, if anyone is wondering.

Good, bad or indifferent, I'd love to hear any and all feedback.

I like the song, the vocals are kind of grating at times though. I like it best when your singer sounds like he's on the verge of screaming... like a little bit more grit in his voice, don't really know how to properly explain it.
also sometimes everything sounds a bit hestitant, remember that false notes and stuff sound great if you do them with conviction, without it just sounds wrong :P

the riffs are really fun though! I would like to hear a more produced version! keep on making music.
also remember that while opinions from forums are nice, in the end you just gotta do it the way you feel most comfortable and etc.

Cheers mate! Yeah, the singer was saying he wasn't too happy with his performance, he does sound a little strained as he is really pushing the limits of his range ( for better or worse). I'll let him know what you said about the screaming. Normally he is singing a fair bit lower.

I see what you mean about the hesitation, too. I know that part of it is my fault during the bridge, where I started fumbling a bit.

Again, thanks for the feedback! :)

Not bad at all... Reminds me of a mix between Magnus Pelander (Witchcraft (Swe) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGjD81pL9yg) and Geddy Lee

Thanks, mate! :). Definitely see those comparisons as a compliment.

How are you guys recording and producing? Not up my alley musically, but it could definitely be improved with some production and mixing changes. More guitars and bass to fill out the mid range and less vocals- they also need some compression. For a demo it's good though, lively and energetic. Hopefully you guys can pull together a better mix for the final version. :)

Cheers for the feedback dude. Yeah, our recording situation wasn't perfect, haha - we recorded in a very small studio-type room with the singer's vocal coach, who left during the recording and then mixed it without us. I probably would have dropped the vocals down a bit in the mix and upped the lead guitars. Pretty grateful for it though, as the dude let us do it all for free.
