Pagan Altar - The Time Lord

First time hearing this proper, and not on some vinyl rip.

Virgin Steele - A Changling Dawn (Noble Savage Acoustic version)

Well this is an interesting version of this track. While the original is in your face and more straightforward this one sounds more restrained and haunting with some beautiful piano work instead of blazing guitars. I could do without some of the dramatic vocal lines here and there but I really like this anyway.

I usually don't care about breakdowns but the one at the end of that song is sick. "Now for the fun part..."

Jeff Buckley - I Know We Could Be So Happy, Baby (If We Wanted to Be)

This is the first time I've ever heard this song. I've been missing out on a gem!

Udo is awesome. I personally prefer Mark Tornillo over him, but that doesn't make his vocals any less charismatic.

Anaal Nathrakh - Todos Somos Humanos, off Vanitas

Hunt sounds like a bloody demon during the chorus; "TODOS SOMOS HUMANOS, Y TODOS SEREMOS POLVOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

That's my favorite tune off of Vanitas by far. And Mark Tornillo is great, but the songwriting on the new Accept stuff, while good, just isn't as catchy or as good overall as on the classic stuff unfortunately. Still though, great that they sound so fresh and invigorated anyway.

Stratovarius - Nemesis

"I introduce this, my new Cradle of Judas." I replay that part some times.

The Ruins of Beverast- Fifty Forts Along the Rhine

Getting hyped for the new album. "Rain Upon the Impure" is one of the best modern black metal albums. It's a tough listen, but once you get an ear for it almost nothing matches its dark grandeur and scale.

For me the best song off Vanitas has to be Forging Towards the Sunset. Insanely catchy, and while the ending (you know, the one with the long scream that gradually turns into static) is a bit silly, I can't help but love it. As for modern Accept..... Well, Blood of the Nations was great up until, say, Rolling Thunder, but after that stuff tends to mesh together. Stalingrad fixed that though, and I find it to be a stellar album from start to finish, not to mention that it contains what I think are some of their greatest songs, period. But yeah, their classic material is classic for a reason.

Anaal Nathrakh - A Metaphor for the Dead, off Vanitas

These guys should write more slow paced songs.

Destroyer 666 - Clenched Fist
Cold Steeeeeel...For An Iron Age. I want the current avatar of D666 to return to this era. Defiance, their last album, was weak in my opinion.

"Stalingrad" I thought was good, and I still do, but it hasn't aged that well...I haven't had an inkling to play it in a long time. Definitely a solid 4-star album though.

Oh come on, Emp! Hung, Drawn and Quartered, the titletrack, Flash to Bang Time, Revolution, Twist of Fate, The Galley..... It's all gold! That, and Shadow Soldiers is pretty much what Sabaton would sound like if they were..... You know..... Good :-D

I've got to agree with him, actually. It's a solid album and all, but I felt no compulsion to listen to it again after a few days and beyond. I guess I haven't been too crazy about any post-Udo Accept, really.

Phoenix - Bankrupt!

I've been listening to this nonstop. It's almost just as good as WAP, with ridiculously catchy, fun songs and whimsically likable vocals. So far, my top two favorite albums of the year by a great distance have been non-metal.

I like all the songs on it, and it's got a lot of energy, but it just doesn't really go 'above and beyond' to really be an upper tier album. Still though, better than what a lot of bands their age are doing now. They sound modern and young.

That's okay. I can't help myself from loving it though :-D

W.A.S.P. - Blind in Texas, off The Last Command

All this talk about Accept made me want to spin something particularly old school. This'll do the trick.

W.A.S.P.'s new one is rumored for a fall release. Given how the last few didn't really do much of anything for me I'm not expecting it to be any better, much less different. Who knows.

Darkthrone - Accumulation of Generalization

Now that I've accumulated all of the bands studio albums over the years, it's only proper that I listen to them all in order... maybe not one after the other, but a few a day.
