So if I get released an EP and this demo, then what?

Then we'll reconsider. The band isn't blacklisted so you can just resubmit them with the necessary evidence included. No guarantees at this point, though, digital releases are judged case-by-case. (Re-)read the rules on them to get a better picture of what we consider acceptable and what not.

Okay, now... Krieg_apocalypse, let me explain why your band was blacklisted/rejected. Yes, it's noisy, fuzz-riddled raw black metal. But it's actually SO damn raw, the guitar tone is completely inaudible. There's nothing to distinguish that thin, droning trickle of (what I assume was) a guitar from, say, any other instrument. Barring the useless intro and "outro", we have four tracks of music to judge this project on. The first two songs were a mess, and the "riffs" - if there were any, resembled less of a guitar tone and more like a phone recording of somebody playing an accordion on the other end. The second two tracks were more acceptable (obviously because they were of a proper mix), but even those were pretty damn borderline. And weighing in all four tracks, well, sorry, but it leans too strongly in the noise spectrum. Way too strongly.

We can forgive poor recording quality, but come on dude, this is seriously pushing your luck:

Ok no worries,i understand.Thanks for replying,much appreciated :)

Ok I see now why did you reject the band Incestus.
Here's the old youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/BornDeadOfficial . I've changed the name of the band recently and deleted most of the profiles.
The demo has no physical release it's all uploaded in youtube, facebook etc. I'll make it available for download again later today.
Thank you!

Hi!

Can you please remove Face Off (Belgrade, RS) from the blacklist?

The band is signed to Maple Metal Records.
The debut was released on 14th Feb - 'The Colour of Rain'.

Hails Everyonel. I'm here to write about a rejected band called Toxocracia From Mexico. It has a physical relase with Depressive Illusions Records with a CD-R Version http://depressiveillusions.com/items/cd ... -confusion and a Tape Version http://depressiveillusions.com/items/ta ... -confusion. Also The band has a Channel in Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/enrique-de-jesus-p-covarrubias with a work in progress https://soundcloud.com/enrique-de-jesus ... n-fantasma among Anti-society http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ant ... 3540334672, Failure http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Failure/3540342773 and Rosaceae http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etdvt2cWyAg.
Certainly the band has hardcore influences, but it's enterely metal, entering in the wave of shoegaze black metal like Morose, Dernier Martyr, Amesoeur or Sun Devoured Earth.
So there is the official Facebook site of the band https://www.facebook.com/pages/Toxocrac ... 8853321193
And there are some songs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxZ_AqcafKU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI6I0uw0g5o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZagzULxPws

I hope that it's clear now that Toxocracia Deserves to be in the metal archives and it's only a mistake. There is enough evidence of their metalness and their official relases.
Have a nice day.

Sorry, but I fail to see how this is black metal...

EDIT: Perhaps the last song might be metal, at some moments.

It's Because The Band Is Shoegaze Black Metal Genre. This Genre is known for having an atmosphere softer and darker based in black metal riffs. The whole songs of that genre have not to be harsh all time, so it has changes in tempo and chords. I put above examples about other bands that make music similar and are in the database. This genre is new and less known by metal listeners but definitely i'm sure that Toxocracia deserves a place in metal archives to share music and information with people around the world and not only in the local scene.

Greetings.

I will put below some examples of Shoegaze Black Metal bands that are known and are registered here... Enjoy!

Hello, I still haven't gotten a reply from any moderators over Vorvadoss, they were rejected for being experimental hardcore but their songs are composed of mostly doom and black metal riffs.
Here is one song that is on the demo I own

Hello. Going straight to the point:

Two of the bands I submitted, Viieden and Dormant Inferno, have been rejected for the following reason:
"Please read our rules about needing evidence of existence of a valid release; there is no evidence of a such a release."
In fact, there are releases. Viieden's EP "Calamities Inflicted" is available for listening on the links I submitted on the band's profile (Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/Viieden -, MySpace - http://www.myspace.com/viieden- and ReverbNation - http://www.reverbnation.com/viieden -) and for download on the label's BandCamp page (http://grindborrecords.bandcamp.com). There were also a few links to the free download, but I just discovered they are broken.
About Dormant Inferno, their EP "In Sanity" has been released on Internet. It can be found on ReverbNation (http://www.reverbnation.com/dormantinferno), MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/dormantinfernoindia) and Last.Fm (http://www.lastfm.com.br/music/Dormant+Inferno). There is also free download on Mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/?ozgy1qycdj8ftaf).
Both of the bands attend to the requisitions listed on Rules & Guidelines, which are:

"Official Distribution: The album must be available through an official and/or permanent (as "permanent" as Internet sites go, anyway) channel. This means sending us a link to a Mediafire-hosted .rar file is not good enough (could be faked too easily). You must show us where this album is hosted (such as a band's official site, a serious digital distributor, etc.) Note, this does not mean free albums are excluded.
Quality Download: No streaming-only (such as on MySpace or YouTube); the digital album must be available as a full high-quality download, preferably in lossless format.
Length of material: The album must be a full-length. There is no hard-defined cut-off, as that would be arbitrary: a good guideline, however, would be roughly 30 minutes of original material. This is to avoid the kind of bands that have a lazy "promo single", or a "3 song EP", of which 2 are covers, for instance. Expect moderator discretion for evaluating this. An EP may be accepted depending on the situation. Two EPs are better than one, for sure.
Fixed tracklist: The album must have a fixed tracklisting. An assorted bunch of songs posted every now and then on ReverbNation is not an "EP" or a "demo". Another song posted later is not "demo 2". And so on.
Final mix: No rehearsals, raw promos, rough mixes of any kinds are accepted for digital releases. Only finished, professional albums.
Cover art: The album should ideally have a cover art, since it serves as a visual identifier for a collection of songs and can be used for making a DIY physical release, should the buyer want the songs on a CD for his/her personal collection. If the digital release has a fully defined cover (and preferably not just a logo on a white background), it will go a long way into making it more serious. Liner notes and inserts are even better."

I am waiting for a reply. As soon as I get a positive answer (if I get) I'll resubmit the band(s) right away.
Thanks for reading it and the amazing website.

Based on the two songs you've posted, they are definitely, 100% more on the core side than the death side. The blacklist says as such and I, as the resident deathcore judge, support the decision entirely.

Grindcore can sit on either the punk-based side of the fence, or the metallic side. The band you tried submitting sits on the former.

(Can also sit on the noise-based side, but let's not go there)

Hey guys, Súl ad Astral was rejected because the cd release is dated the 3rd of March, I made an error with the release date as it was orginally released as a digital album on the 20th of May 2012 via bandcamp. This can also be verified in the bio section of their facebook. Can I re-submit?

Pest productions will be shipping the pre-orders of the cd release on the 3rd of March. Apologies for entering wrong release date.

Nope, the tracks that're currently on Bandcamp are for streaming only. None of them are downloadable, so it doesn't apply for VR. Sorry mate.

My band Hadeium was rejected. "Not a metal band, punk/crust"
Does this sound punk or crust to you? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKn-MEmfcjY
And i can't find this punk either, more like oldschool power metal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EPtuZkTNQo
It's hard to hear because of the live soundquality but for gods sake this is not punk!

Don't bother re-submitting until the March 3rd. I submitted as well because I thought Pest was going to release today (as their Bandcamp says), but their site has it pushed back to March 3rd, so I was told to wait until then. Seems a bit silly to me, it's only in three days, or the request could have stayed pending for another three days and then accepted. Ah well. The Pest Productions release is the official version, which has been mastered, btw: http://pestproductions.bandcamp.com/album/s-l-ad-astral

Submitted M.D.F.L earlier, "Powerviolence... does not belong on Encyclopaedia Metallum" is the response I got. I feel although grindcore, we definitely err more on the metal side, with even less hardcore influence than a band like Napalm Death. The riffs are obviously thrash influenced. I didn't think "powerviolence" was a clearly defined entity.

mxdxfxlx.bandcamp.com listen for samples - the drumming are guitar playing are very clearly metal.
Thanks.

Yeah, sorry mate, but the rules are quite strict on this one. It's also not fair to keep a band in the queue for days beforehand either, as many users would be using this opportunity to "park" their drafts before other users. E.g., a well-known band is about to release an album on a known date, and there's about 5-6 trigger-itchy users waiting to get their submission in first. So yeah, sorry, rules are rules. ;)

Mate, take it from the mod that loves grindcore the most ... this is punk-based grindcore, sorry.

Hi,

I tried to add "Attika 7" (US) on the metal-archives database but apparently the band is blacklisted. I was surprised...

The band has a physical album: "Blood of my Ennemies", out on 31th July 2012.

Here's their website: http://www.attika7.com/
And you can find the proof here on their website: http://www.attika7.com/news/view/attika ... my-enemies

You can buy the album on different website:
here: http://www.amazon.fr/Blood-My-Enemies-A ... B007ZU6HC8
here: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=8756079
or here: http://www.priceminister.com/offer/buy/ ... ika-7.html
and here:http://cgi.ebay.fr/CD-Attika-7-Blood-Of-My-Enemies-/140853920892?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item20cb8c447c

The singer is the ex-singer from the NY hardcore band Biohazard but here he doesn't sing in hardcore style, the music is old school heavy metal. It's not a side-project.

If someone can tell me...

Thanks

Blacklist note says 'modern rock'...Based on the one track I heard on their website, I'd consider it 'modern hard rock'. Definitely not hardcore, but it sounds like they are more in the territory of alternative, groovy, modernized hard rock. Either way, it has to get more metal than that track to get accepted. So, if there are any predominantly metal tracks on their cd, can you please link to them?

Of course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiNtqKh9lhs

Here's the album on Deezer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiNtqKh9lhs

Listen to songs such as "Greed and Power", "Blood of my Ennemies", etc... ""Unfortunately"" they work a lot on song's intros and you can heard only the 30 first seconds of the track on deezer.

Here's another song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fedpeKeLsIk
If you hear the song, it's totally metal.

It's not a "modern rock" band like "Alter Bridge", "Nickelback", "Creed", or something like that as you seem to think. It's pure biker's old school heavy metal.

You decide.

I created a band profile, Dalia Nera, but a moderator, Alhadis, send me this message:
Quote:
Yeah, going by the song sample that's on MySpace, this doesn't sound metal at all, sorry... are the other tracks on the CD any better? If so, please give us enough samples so we can get the gist of what the whole record sounds like... 3-5 more tracks would be great, thanks...

According to me and to this sample (http://www.myspace.com/dalianeraband) I think this is metal, different from the others but still metal.
Hope you'll see
Sincerely,

Is the band Ides of Gemini metal enough for the Archives? I have not tried to submit them yet. Sorta gothic, sorta post-metal. You can listen to their first EP here and they have a full-length out as well called Constantinople.

Don't want to go through the trouble of submitting them yet because I think there's a 50/50 chance they'll be rejected. Metal or not, they're fantastic.

You need veteran status (1000< points) before you can change photos. Until then, just file a report on the page so somebody can replace it.

This isn't what the thread is for, holmes. We have a lot of work to do with bands already submitted, we're not going to go out of our way to give a preliminary assessment. If you think they're probably not metal, then I'd refrain from submitting in the first place, but if you think they are, then go for it. You'll find out when we get to it.

They're actually blacklisted. "Some ambient shoegaze stuff with hardly any metal riffing whatsoever." (not my words) Borderline band, IMO.

BastardHead is correct about this thread's purpose, though.

Has any moderator listened to Vorvadoss yet? They were rejected for being Experimental Hardcore but they play Doom/Black with experimental hardcore influences. The Doom and Black Metal is what makes up their songs. I can upload their demo to Mediafire if necessary, it's only two songs though. I am currently trying to get to hold of Wyatt from Steel Bearing Hand to get the live album that was released after the demo.

Also is there a thread were people can ask about bands that haven't been submitted yet to ask if a band is metal enough to be submitted? Because I was debating about asking here but I know this thread isn't for that
