That title makes me cringe every time though.

It is pretty silly, but I'd like to think there is a reason behind it that I'm not privy to. Or maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better :p

I've put my library on shuffle and this popped up. Good death metal band but nothing exceptional.

I've only heard Triumvirate, but that was exceptional by my ears.

On the subject of the new Nick Cave, I've only heard 3 of the tracks and they were all good. That title is pretty embarrassing, though.

I'm listening to The Browning - Time will tell.
Guilty pleasure :oh shit:.

Yeah, man. Triumvirate is very great and totally exceptional and unique, can't wait for the new album.

NP: U.S. Christmas - Fire Is Sleeping. Awesome post/psychedelic/everything rock.

I couldn't ever get into U.S. Christmas. I found them remarkably boring.

Bolt Thrower's Realm of Chaos has been pretty much in non-stop rotation. I think I could put World Eater on endless loop and not get bored.

Avantasia - Invoke the Machine

Heavy, propulsive...not a great tune but good for sure, and I dig the proggier instrumentation and the heavier songwriting.

Sonne Adam - Olam Belehavoth

This ep is fucking very good. The production is without doubt THE best they have had yet - it's so tenebrous, cavernous and mightily, evilly heavy. The extremely up front vocals, drenched in reverb are amazing, and those sinewy, bruising riffs create the exact atmosphere the cover demanded.

Ah I need to check out Triumvirate! No wonder I wasn't listening to their better material. Check out the review of the album that song comes from. It's gotten a 10% rating haha.

NP: Morgoth - Isolated
Now here's some exceptional death metal >_>
Protip: The word 'exceptional' never gets old.

Getting ready for a 7 hour car drive. I have the following loaded into the car's disc changer, so for the next 7 or so hours I will be playing:

Ewigheim - Mord Nicht Ohne Grund
Wintersun - Time I
Blind Guardian - At the Edge of Time
A Pale Horse Named Death - And Hell Will Follow Me
Isolation in Infamy - Isolation in Infamy
Woods of Ypres - Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light
Vader - Welcome to the Morbid Reich

Hopefully these will make the long drive seem a little less like balls.

Esqarial - World In Flames
Now I'm going to throw a couple of terms describing this music - technical, progressive and at times melodic death metal. 'Discoveries' is a good release by them and their other albums don't measure up to this.

Stratovarius - Abandon

Hell yeah. Killer riffing, some vibrant soloing and lyrics about just saying 'fuck it' and moving on like a drifter...kick ass anthem. Probably my favorite song of the year so far.

Dark Angel - Darkness Descends

I really bought into this album's hype when I first got it. Now that a few years have passed, I can say that it's a very good album, but it's not the flawless masterpiece that many make it out to be. The two biggest reasons for this? Don Doty, and the overall unmemorable riffing. I'm not a fan of Ron Rhinehart either; sadly, this band could never get a good vocalist. At least Doty unleashes some nice screams from time to time, so I prefer him of the two, but still, he's usually pretty weak. As far as the riffs go, well, very few of them stand out to me. I appreciate that this is basically a blur of sonic brutality, but it would be that much more effective if the guitarists took the time to hone their riffs to a sharper point. Basically, 'Spectrum of Death' was the album that I hoped 'Darkness Descends' would be.

Enough complaining though! This is still a damn fun album, or else I wouldn't be sitting here listening to it right now. :p

Sorcier Des Glaces - Winter Eternal

I absolutely love this band and the whole Quebec scene for that matter. The old school, raw, yet somehow melodic and refreshing sound of this song and album are really awesome and would love to find more stuff like this!

Fuck yeah! And I'll miss Forteresse again because I'm too broke :( They're playing with Mgla (I'm fucking pissed to miss them too) and Nargaroth (meh) in early March. It's a bit too expensive in my opinion and I'd rather go to the Wings of Metal fest in August for a similar price...

oh and NP: Satan - Court in the Act!
