I didn't get The Beatles until I heard Rubber Soul. That album has got to be in my top 5 of all time - such beautiful, simple music.

Radiohead, huh, haven't heard them since I was about 16. Maybe it's time to give em another shot...I remember liking them a lot back then and just somehow forgot about them over the years. :p

Calling Radiohead overrated is like calling Celtic Frost overrated, Radiohead is the most important alternative rock band of the 90s, there's no way around that. I wasn't aware it was so trendy to hate them, you guys are so kvlt and trve!

I'd say Nirvana was more important.

Rubber Soul is amazing but I'd say Revolver would have to be my favourite. Rubber Soul is an enigma, though, in that you'd think it'd be impossible for such simple, stripped down music to turn out so incredible.

I like Revolver too, but not as much. Technically it's probably more impressive, but it's not as emotional or immediate for me - not as raw.

Radiohead are an overrated, bland and uninspired grunge band, alright? Same goes for Shite Side of the Moon: bland, uninspired and - most importantly of all - grunge.

I'm Only Sleeping is one of my favorite songs.

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy
I don't mind, I think they're crazy
Running everywhere at such a speed
Till they find there's no need (there's no need)

I really like "And Your Bird Can Sing." They had a way of making these short, folky songs sound so epic and larger than life.

Radiohead had one grungy album, and it was their debut. Calling them grunge or even comparing them to Nirvana is fifty shades of stupid, as ANationalAcrobat slyly alluded to.

I have no reason at all to give even a iota of a fuck about post-80s popular music. The only thing I know is that grunge is massive shite.

This discussion sucks. Time to drink some beer.

The most important band of the 90s was also the most important band of the 80s AND of the 70s: The Residents. Incidentally, they're also the most important band of the 00s.

Radiohead is an awesome band, but basing your entire opinion of them on Ok Computer, when they do drastically different things on every album (I think In Rainbows might be my favourite right now) is just stupid. Frog is sort of going the xlxlx level of hyperbole here though, dude probably had one too many.

Also, fuck the Beatles.

Because you're not paying attention. Primus covered them on Frizzle Fry, they've got videos in New York's MoMA, Penn Gilette did the narration for their Mole Show tour through Europe, Richard Nixon had a copy of their debut release, Frank Zappa and Matt Groenig are/were fans, and I've even seen comic book artists for DC at their shows.

I got tired of him for many reasons, I gave him a 2 weeks break during the holidays and his immaturity, stupidness, thickness and butthurtness were the same. I think I decided to ban him (with the approval of some other lords and gods) when he posted lame memes on the forum.

Haha. I liked this bit - "There's a lot I have been wanting to talk about in terms of metal."
Does banning the user mean banning the email id with which a user registers with? The dude could always sign up again. Ohshi, just gave him an idea...pfft

Currently listening to this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqRxezX1VxM
Such easy listening and this song transports me to a smoky-pub like ambience with a geisha-like woman humming softly into the mic while the rest of the band plays on. All this in black & white!

I've come to the conclusion that OK Computer is certainly not for me. It's okay stuff, and I can definitely see the appeal, but..... Eh, it's not my kind of thing.

I know a lot of you fine gentlemen and ladies enjoy drinking tea. I have never been one to try any other than the occasional sweet tea, which happens once in a blue moon. However in the cold winter mornings a warm drink sounds like a good idea and I am wondering if you all would recommend a type/flavor/brand? I don't know if this helps or not, but I rarely drink coffee because I find it far too bitter. I will however drink a cappuccino (heavily sugared/creamed) on long road trips. Thanks for all the help.

Pure Assam. Or Ostfriesen-blend. Hard to come by where you live I guess though. Or any black tea with a flavor you like. Like butter-truffle, or chocolate-chili
Or get yourself some chai.

green tea (not flavoured) or anise-fennel-caraway (very good for your stomach btw but also tasty) as well as
the classic: peppermint tea, preferably made from fresh peppermint leaves put into the hot water.

YES AND YES. I have! And am having! That album is sublime. Listening to it quite drunk ATM and it's excellent as always. I need no other album right now. I do tend to speak in incredible hyperbole whilst imbibing though.

New Title: "MA's Drunk Uncle"

Ok Computer is great, but that album took forever to grow on me, it was worth it. When I first heard Ok computer I didn't like it at all, probably was in the wrong mindset while listening to it. And Magical mystery tour is the best Beatles album.

I was listening to OK Computer the other day, and while I really like that album and was enjoying it during this particular listen, I was consciously acknowledging that I wouldn't want to hear it again for a very long time. Weird phenomena, makes you think about stuff.

It features a song that makes text-to-speech somehow emotional. That alone should be commended.

Latest ForeBears trailer has got me pumped and excited. Not only will we be treated to rocks, we'll also be able to enjoy looking at the wood of a campfire. :hyper:

I would be more interested in Forebears if I knew it wasn't going to involve Varg somehow blaming the Jews for everything. I do find his articles in paganism interesting but the ending paragraphs always have a habit of finding a way to shit on the Jews/Christians/anybody that doesn't have white skin.

Edit: Here's the new Forebears trailer, I found it interesting because it has a short reworking of the Han som reiste track from Det som engang var. Maybe the next Burzum release will have synths in it again, who knows!

This x1000.

Also, for more common brands pretty much everything I've had from Twinings, Celestial Seasonings (I've only ever had their herbal stuff), and Stash have all been pretty good.

+1 for the peppermint tea mention. While you're looking for tea, try this also - Touareg/Mint tea.
