I suppose I'll introduce myself formally. Name's John. 24 years old living in the Chicago area. I come from a musical background, and have been into metal for about 10 years. I've lurked on this site since about '05/'06, when my interest in metal really began to take hold. I created an account back then (can't even remember the name) but stopped posting due to a sheer lack of wisdom on my part that many of the users here possess. Plus, there were a few encounters where I left feeling like an unwelcome newb, so I basically reverted back to using the site for band info, reviews, and to lurk the forums to draw from the wealth of information on underground metal concentrated on this site. I went off to college which forced me to branch out in my musical tastes, though metal (more specifically black, grind and death) is still my primary source of musical enjoyment. I'm now working full-time and paying off loans. I decided that I'd rejoin the boards having added a few more years to mature and develop as a metal fan. I like the relatively no-bullshit approach of this forum and it's nice to read and have conversations with people who share my musical tastes and who also aren't neanderthals.

Following in typical n00b fashion, I'll list a few of my favorite bands...

Anaal Nathrakh (hence my username... I'm a raging fanboy), Nasum, Burzum, Pink Floyd, Blut aus Nord, Arghoslent, Wormrot, Behemoth, Gorgoroth, Cryptopsy, Cobalt, Ulver, Insect Warfare, Blood Ceremony and Misery Index... Just to name a few that have really left a huge impression on me.

Cheers, M-A users and mods!

Hej guys/gals

I'm from germany and I enlisted here to write a review on Satyricons "Rebel Extravaganza" because I thought, it wasn't treated fairly. Otherwise I'm a huge fan of the Enzyclopedia and it helped me countless times, giving me lots of inspirations. Maybe I'll write another review soon, who knows.

Take care!

ps: playlist right now: Drastus, Neurosis, Der Weg einer Freiheit, Motörhead

Hey all,
Old fart here from New Hampshire, and longtime headbanger. I've been lurking since just about the beginning, or at least by 2004 sometime. I have a vast MP3 collection and I've updated the tags on those songs literally thousands of times from the info here on the site. I figured it was about time I contributed something, so I'm giving back and doing what I can.
Thanks to everyone who's been doing that for years already!

You can only do it if you have a higher rank. Right now you don't, so you can upload the images to an image hosting site and report the specific band page, including the links in the report.

But, welcome all newbies! :)

Hello. My name is Anderson and I started listening to metal recently - 2010. Since last year this site has given me many good recommendations and I like to see the reviews of albums. Well, I'm more of a gamer than metalhead so I'm almost sure I won't be posting on this forum discussing about metal because I think I don't have enough knowledge of metal yet and I registered to try to learn a lot of metal here. Hmm, I listen to any kind of metal, I don't have a favorite genre. I think that's all you need to know.
Thank you very much for the awesome site.

Hey all,

First post here so be nice. Aussie metal lover here (as well as industrial and other nasty electronic music, but that's for another forum I suppose). Been into it for 20 years and not slowing down any time soon.
By day I'm a journalist - but not about music. By night I love blogging about the music I love and hte life that comes with it.

I've been lurking and making good use of Metal Archive for quite a few years now and hope it keeps going for a long time. Especially without the ads.

@MikeyC - I was writing for a boat magazine oddly enough. Now I've switched to boats and RVs for the web. Would love to be a local contact for Terroriser one of the British mags.

That sounds pretty cool. As long as you like it. I know of Terrorizer and have had subscriptions to that magazine in the past. I wouldn't know how you'd get into that but good luck if that's what you want. :)

You know, when I first came here and started posting a few months ago, I was actually surprised at how many people seemed like assholes. It struck me as bizarre, except now I realize something that I didn't realize before, but was always apparent; people are simply assholes. Honestly, I didn't expect this community to be filled with people willing to give you a hard time at first, but now I kind of understand a bit more about how to function successfully around here, which is to pretty much not giving a fuck about what assholes say.

Hey,

i am a 21 y/o Metalhead from Northern Germany and love Thrash, Death, Heavy and Speed Metal. My first expierence with Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal was in 2005 when my father handed me his
"Deep Purple - In Rock" and "Black Sabbath - Self Titled" Records, at that point i was hooked to this Music. After that it didnt took long till i Discovered bands like Kreator, Protecor and Death.
In 2007 i visited the Wacken Open Air for the first time, the whole Festival made me even more passionate about this Music/Scene, since then i attend Shows and Festivals as long
as i can afford them. I've been lurking this Board for about two years and decided to sign up and contribute even though i have a lot to learn. I also have a Kutte/Battle Jacket and will post that
asap, so you can see my taste.

Cheers

Hey fellow metalheads,

I'm Jason from Oakland, California. I dig oldschool DM, especially all that weird jazzy shit like Atheist and Cynic. Speaking of which, it's fucking awesome seeing all these old bands like Autopsy and Broken Hope getting back together to remind us how it's done. I play all kinds of instruments and at the moment I'm playing guitar in a death/grind band called Limbs. I run a small recording business out of my house, so if anybody in the area is looking for some cheap studio time hit me up!! http://www.brainsplitter.tk

Also happy to have just turned 21. Cheers!!! :headbang:

Cheers newcomers, as long as you don't act like Veracs, and don't listen to the same power metal as Zelkiiro you're welcome to share your (undoubtebly insightful) opinions!

Hello there.

I'm César, a 20 years old peruvian fan of metal music. I guess I can't say I'm really a "metalhead" as I listen to a lot more stuff that would probably make a lot of people here cringe in disgust, but don't worry. I DO follow the rule of speaking only metal in the metal forums.
I also have an account in the Metalcrypt, but I'm not very active there. Truth be told, I'm never a specially active member in any forum I register to, but I try.

Oh, and if any of you wonders. "Menternor" does not mean anything. It's just a word I invented when thinking of a nickname for some RPG many years ago.

Cheers!

I'm new. I've been occasionally lurking for a couple of years.

My favorite bands are the Beatles and the Grateful Dead (obviously not going to discuss that much on this forum). My favorite genre of music is folk metal. I listen to a lot of traditional Scottish and Irish music as well as heavy metal. The best show that I've been to was Tyr, Korpiklaani, and Swashbuckle in January 2010.

If Dave Mustaine's first major band (the one where he was replaced by the guy who was in Exodus) is to be discussed, I will inevitably remind people that they broke up in 1987 after their fourth album. However, as I'm not much of a thrash fan, I will not go into much discussion.

I like black metal, but the fans are sometimes too weird even for me (and I have to have a massive tolerance for weirdness to put up with myself).

I'm a fan of Warhammer 40,000. I read a lot of science fiction novels.

I've read two of the books (#1 and #3 from the opening trilogy). I have False Gods, The Flight of the Eisenstein, and A Thousand Sons within arms' reach, as well as the second Space Wolf omnibus, the first Gaunt's Ghost omnibus, the Eisenhorn omnibus, the Ravenor omnibus, the Word Bearers omnibus, and Titanicus.
