I was recently listening to Dusk and Her Embrace as well as Cruelty and the Beast and noticed a distinct lack of similar sounding albums from other bands.

Anyone have any suggestions for other / newer bands who are developing in that style of narrative based campy gothic black metal, with guitar melodies, over the top vocals (with a lot of variety) and keyboard/orchestration in massive doses alongside the metal for dramatic effect.

Theatrical and well written lyrics are a plus, as are a mixing of tempos between blasts, d-beats and slower rhytyms.

You might find the latest album from Old Corpse Road something to your liking.

It's been a long time since I heard it, but Martyrium's old stuff might be to your liking:

CoF-ish vocals, synths and what not.

Siebenbürgen and Darkside of Innocence come to mind. The former is more black metal than early CoF and the latter is more gothic. Hope these help.

You should check out the project Inner Fear. This band has the drummer of COF on drums, and is all around pretty similar in style. Extreme symphonic Black/Gothic, or whatever they call themselves.

Also, Inner Fear has their latest release, "First Born Fear" up for free download on their website:

Hope you enjoy!

You scared me for a moment! Marthus, the drummer of Inner Fear, is still in Cradle of Filth, just so you know.

^^No problem! I actually prefer parts of that band to COF. I feel like the vocals are a bit better. They are a little mellower, though. But really good nonetheless.

^And whoops! I'll go edit it, my bad. I don't really keep up with COF nowadays. Haha.
