Gorguts-Waste of Mortality

Glad the album has at least one good song so far

Darkthrone - Rust

Listening to the version with commentary by Fenriz and Nocturno - one of the first things discussed is the fact that the album's entire drum sound is based on one Girlschool song.

Candlemass - Bewitched, off Nightfall

This song is meant to be listened to along with its corresponding music video. Call it cheesy, ridiculous, cringe-inducing, etc. I say it's classic.

Meshuggah - Paralyzing Ignorance, off Contradictions Collapse

Okay..... Am I going crazy? Because I remember hating this (just as much as I hate everything else made by Meshuggah) not too long ago, but now it sounds pretty decent.

That's how I felt about Meshuggah too, before I started to like them quite a bit. They grow on you like a tumor.

Like a malignant tumor? That eats away your senses and renders you a vegetable? :ugh:

For the life of me, I couldn't enjoy most of their songs except for maybe New Millennium CC, Straws pulled (?) and Combustion. I've seen them live and that's possibly the only form that I could digest meshuggah. It's not even the genre or the plethora of shit bands they inspired...they're just boring in my opinion and the music is too repetitive in a bad way to be enjoyed.

Wormrot - Overpowered Violence
Quintessential modern grindcore.

Lampades - B

It's a pleasure to see this band evolve. Their demo tape didn't immediately resonate with me, probably because I didn't quite understand their mellow, monotonous, even minimalist death metal. With this record, however, I am beginning to understand and enjoy accordingly. There's great potential in Lampade's concept, I believe, and I do hope for the best.

Kamelot - This Pain

I have my eyes open for Kamelot tour dates, they're supposed to come to the US headlining this year. I was very impressed when I saw them with Nightwish, I can't wait to see a longer set.

Meshuggah - Erroneous Manipulation, off Contradictions Collapse

Seriously, I still can't believe I'm into this. It's fairly different from all other Meshuggah though, so that surely has to do with it. The production is warmer, and the instrumentation feels much more organic (because let's face it; if you aren't in Voivod or Vektor, then you can't pull off robotic playing).

Helloween - The Game is On

Master of the Rings is a fucking jewel. From beginning to the very ending. This particular song always makes me happy, yet nostalgic.

Vesania - God the Lux

Haven't listened to this since probably around 2007. Really should have given it more attention, this album rules. Between Behemoth and this, Orion's got some pretty cool output under his belt.

I have been listening to this album non stop since I got it in the mail. I feel like it gets better with every listen. Not sure yet but I may end up eating my words about Chapters of Repugnance being better.

Wolf - The Dead, off The Black Flame

This song's verse riff is like a giant zombie shark from hell. And no, I'm not exaggerating. Seriously, just picture a huge fucking undead shark (FROM HELL) swimming at full speed while backed by that riff. There, you see? It makes total sense.
