From Meshuggah's Facebook.

Quote:
Scion A/V Metal have something special coming to you from Meshuggah next Tuesday!Image

I'm gonna take a guess that this might be a new FREE Meshuggah EP from Scion. Not too surprising since Scion released free EPs from bands like Arsis, Revocation, Gates of Slumber, and Witch Mountain.. all of which were pretty bad-ass in their own right. Crazy. GO SCION for actually having taste in metal!?! :headbang:

Anyone else think this may NOT be an EP and maybe something else? I can't really think of anything else. Cars named after Meshuggah song-titles?? :-P

Also, any speculation on how the music will sound? I'm thinking maybe something like their I EP. One track. Devastation.

Scion were filming and recording their last tour, so this might be a collection of live tracks. I would love new material though.

I thought the Enslaved EP Scion sponsored wasn't too bad, I'm definitely expecting a free Meshuggah EP. Exciting, in my opinion Meshuggah really doesn't go wrong. Can't wait.

I have to say, I'm really perplexed as, of all companies, Scion is starting to sponsor metal bands. As long as it funds quality music, I really don't have a problem. The two products together seem strange though.

The Enslaved EP was pretty damn good. Took me a year to listen to it after downloading it, but it was still pretty damn good.

I never heard of this before, do you just go to Scion's website and download it? Also can you still get the older ones?

Wormrot's "Noise" EP was also pretty badass.

I wonder why Scion is sponsoring so many metal bands? And pretty darn good ones too....anyway, I love the fact that they are doing it! That Immolation one was fucking beast.

Looks promising. These scion releases seem to be consistent with quality. That Revocation -Teratogenesis CD shreds hard.

Magrudergrind's Crusher ep was good as well

I might get this cause it's free, it'll be the first time I got anything from Meshuggah since Nothing.

Scion A/V is pretty awesome.

I am sure this will have a couple sweet moments if it is an EP.

Meshuggah kinda gets old for me though. I don't think I like any of their albums all the way through. Mainly I just like certain songs

They are simply trying to attract metalheads (and other music fans) to their cars. It's marketing.

I think most people get that, but why bands like Arsis and Revocation and not something like Bullet for My Valentine or Trivium? Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing, but it's surprising that they're using bands that aren't particularly mainstream.

Maybe someone at Scion is a genuine metal nut.

We got an Immolation EP. I don't pretend to understand it, but I'm not going to question it either. If a car company thinks it's worth sponsoring bands like Magrudergrind or Revocation, who am I to tell them it's technically incorrect from a marketing perspective? Not gonna lie, this sort of thing makes me want to check out their cars.

From Feb, 2012:
As amazing as it would be, there are currently no plans for Scion A/V to produce a live tour DVD or any live performance videos at all. What IS in the works is a limited-edition 7″ tour vinyl (which will also be available for free download on scionav.com), some behind-the-scenes backstage iPhone footage from the tour, an exclusive interview with Meshuggah, as well as a ticket giveaway.
Wah, wah...

Also:
Mar. 20, Torrance, Calif. – Scion A/V has partnered with Sweden’s extreme, technical metal band MESHUGGAH to bring fans an exclusive digital music download, limited edition 7”, behind-the-scenes footage from their upcoming North American tour, and a concert ticket giveaway.

So, is that like 2-4 live tracks max? I wonder what tracks they'll use and from where? A live EP is alright, but new material would've been better. Still not bad.

The idea of it being on vinyl is pretty cool. I wish other Scion EPs were pressed to vinyl, especially Revocation. Or hell, why not all of them?

All-in-all, this just seems like a Meshuggah hype-train for their upcoming US tour.

Yep, pretty much. It would have been cool if they got pushed into a studio for a limited amount of time to write and record some songs. Perhaps they wouldn't look down and would create something less stagnant.

Looks like there's a 5:55 long song and a 9:51 long song. Kind of disappointing.

The "new" song (which isn't so new since it was recorded in 2003) has more of a Special Defects type of sound, especially with the vocals. I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

That was the most disappointing EP ever.
Song wasn't that good.

The "new" track was pretty solid. It sounded like something from Catch Thirty Three, which is good, imo. I think that was my introduction to Meshuggah, either that album or Nothing. This EP is a bit disappointing though, rather thin on content. The Immolation Scion EP was god damn awesome. Five actually new quality tracks.

I really love the cover art of this EP too, but they ought to have written and recorded an actual new song to go with it. It's too bad they didn't. :ugh:
