I have seen multiple posts involving jazz metal and it seems like a Jazz Metal help thread would be beneficial.

Hopefully this can consolidate posts on the genre and people can refer to this thread rather than making a new one.

Anything that clearly has heavy Jazz influences is welcome no matter what genre/subgenre it is fused with (Death, Black, Thrash, Doom etc.)

Some bands that I feel would fit in this thread include: Gordian Knot, Exivious, Cynic, Athiest, Pestilence (spheres album), Naked City, Free Nelson Mandoom Jazz, La Rumeur Des Chaines, Alarum, The Mars Volta.

I hope this help thread will get the same support as the others.

I have actually seen that thread haha, I even posted on it. I was hoping that there would be a chance to have this pinned to the top with all the other help threads. Apparently not enough people want or listen to Jazz infused metal/rock on here though. It was worth the try.

jazz/rock?
Have you made the trip through Miles works from Bitches Brew till on the corner?
I know, there is no connections with metal, but as for jazz/rock definition, this stuff is suitable and is above all similar stuff.

You've already mentioned the bands that I would've stated. Here's a newer band called 'Trioscapes'. It's a side project by one of the 'Between the buried and me' guys. They received a lot of criticism though. Have a look if they're your cup of tea.

Yeah trioscapes is pretty awesome I hope they release new material soon.

T.R.A.M. is pretty neat as well it has members from Animals as Leaders and an old member or two from the mars volta.

Then there is Mestis which is the other guitarist (not tosin) from Animals as leaders side project.

I just found out about this band Octopus from Chile, the preview doesn't showcase too much of the jazzy stuff but the album has plenty of bits

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U_l4-aSGWc

and Phantasmagory write some pretty neat progressive stuff I will have to listen to both their albums all the way through. Didn't think much of them the first few times i heard them I was obviously mistaken haha

Aghora is pretty similiar to that type of Cynic stuff.

Another sweet Jazz metal band is Cthulhu Rise
