@miasma_vienna: I understand what you're saying, but as a digital-only band 11 minutes with three songs is simply too short by our standards. I agree that it is very professional and serious from what I gleaned. I tried to take that into account when I rejected it. Still, a band with that little released original material (and that material also not being physical) at this point doesn't quite cut it. Please understand that accepting EPs in any form is rather the exception than the norm, as we prefer digital full-lengths, and when an EP gets accepted it's usually around 20 minutes long, 15 at the very least. I don't want to stress the numbers too much here, we're of course not into the business of assigning arbitrary values to any specific numbers, but there's gotta be a semblance of a line somewhere.

I'd wait until you guys have another release out and then resubmit (another EP like that and it would be no problem, for instance). Seems like you are getting a good amount of positive feedback, so that's probably only a matter of time anyway. :)

Don't want to spoil discussions and annoy people on this thread with many ex-YU bands, so I made a separate thread concerning the old ex-Yugoslavian scene here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=96189

Naughty Whisper, submitted by me, was rejected.
I'm actually OK with that, as I'm not even a fan of their music. I'd like to contribute to MA though, so I submitted this band after finally finding one that wasn't on MA and seemed "metal enough". The rejection notice suggested submitting samples, so I'm adding them now below. If the band is still rejected it's fine by me - they're so totally not even what I'm into, and the singer's Italian accent grates on me, lol.

It seems that the naturalistic Black Metal band Botanist has been deleted. Any info about that ?

A number of us mods agreed that it lacks metal riffs, particularly in relation to guitars... which is a defining characteristic of the bands we consider metal enough. In other words, it ends up simply being black metal shrieks on top of experimental nonsense.

According to the deletion notes: "No guitars, no metal riffs, just BM shrieks over "experimental" nonsense".

They have a demo and a split record on their bandcamp.

It was deemed not metal enough, sorry.

I still haven't been able to find anybody commenting on my Nechochwen post last week. And there's my Aylwin post from way back and yeah I agree I personally cannot see how it is not metal enough but whatever.

I hope I'm not being ignored, but reposting this since it's buried beneath several pages now:

Goatfangs wrote:
I tried to submit the Denver based progressive melodic death metal band Moth and they are blacklisted, presumably because their album is not yet out.

It is released as of Saturday, January 12.

Though it is available in a digital form, it's also a physical release:

Physical proof: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos- ... 2568_n.jpg
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/endle ... d586467032

I'm going by facebook posts made about the album's release: https://www.facebook.com/MusicMoth

Musical samples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 0Nm2swggp4

For some reason, the iTunes link has a biography of a completely different band also called "Moth" from Cincinnati Ohio.

There's also their Bandcamp: http://mothmusicproject.bandcamp.com/ I think on here you can listen to the whole album, but there shouldn't be any conflicts in genre.

I submitted a tech death band called Left in Ruin. They were rejected because they need more proof that they arent just a streaming band. The band has played shows before and has physical releases (indpenendent btw). I could not get a hold of the physical copy but on their facebook they say that they will give a copy of their ep with the purchase of a shirt. What must I do to get this band in?

You could try linking to that specific Facebook post in your Submission notes. I do skim the band's FB posts if no direct link to a post is provided, but if I don't see one after perusing for a bit I reject, because it's not up to me to provide the evidence. This is especially true for bands with busy FB pages with many posts (or worse, FB pages with posts in languages I can't read).

No need to bump your recent posts, even if no mods has posted, we are discussing the bands.

I heard "Occult Rock" a while ago, I'm revisiting it right now. While there's some metal elements, it's not the main influence of the band. Noise, drone, ambient, post rock or kraut are more prevalent in my opinion. It's a very long album and there's many sides to this face, metal is one of 'em, but not enough for MA. I think the band is aware too based on the name of the album!

Cool stuff though!

I'm wondering if I should bother to try to submit my latest album, based on if it's 'metal enough'. Figured I'd see if you guys could give a quick (skim through) listen and let me know if it qualifies.

Or maybe I should just submit it anyway? And just run it through the usual process?

The biggest issue will probably be your lack of real guitar.

So.. if I meet all the submission criteria, but lack the inclusion of 'real' instrumentation.. I might be S.O.L?

Seems a bit harsh.. considering how most modern metal is actually produced these days (drum trigger/replacement/slicing/sequencing/auto tune.. etc..).

In any case.. probably a good thing I'm asking now, to straighten it out before I mistakenly fill out a (sure to be rejected) form. Just waiting on a mod or two for some further insight.

'elloello,

I had submitted 'Coat of Arms' but Alhadis wanted proof of a release coz he thought that they just had online streaming stuff. I resubmitted the band with proof of an album launch etc. It's been sometime and I'm just curious if there any updates on this?

Thanks.

...This is the thread about rejections/blacklistings, not the thread about people being impatient (which shouldn't ever be posted). There are over 200 bands in the queue.

Exhalted was rejected for lack of proof: "Uh. Two pictures of a sharpied CDr isn't going to convince us of anything, dude. We need something that proves that a release has been distributed in serious numbers - such as a link to a band's post stating that the release was available at gigs, or something like that."

The only thing left / available from this band is their abandoned myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/exhalted

The sharpied CDrs were direct from the band themselves, in either white envelopes or regular cd trays, never had any artwork for their demos. They never made silver disc CDs and have played serious shows during their time. I wish I had more to proof to provide but that is all I have.

It was blacklisted because the demo is in the same situation. However, they released a split with Zinumm recently that is more metal than ambient. I have removed from the blacklist. Submit it and we will judge if it is valid or not.

Hi there,

The band I want to upload is blacklisted, and I came to show you some evidence:

First is that the band, "Aura" from spain, is the new project by Naamath from "Dunkles Gebet", but in this one he called himself no more Naamath, so he called Trollkopf.

The new project is ambient, but it has also metal tracks like this one:

There is a fisical album, that you can find in the hungarian label "Rotten Crowz":

For more info you can look at:

Hi! I just noticed that my band "Leka" has been blacklisted and I think it's an error.

I have a valid digital release available at:

Spotify: http://open.spotify.com/album/0skKlkvthHnacM3NSXJODK

Itunes: https://itunes.apple.com/album/grievance/id560931285?v0=9988&ign-mpt=uo%3D1

Bandcamp: http://leka.bandcamp.com/

I understand if the length of the album is the issue. But I have released two EP's (although the first one isn't available through spotify and itunes anymore because of the massive tunecore fees).

And I even have got good reviews, so I think I'm above crappy bedroom bands :D. Sorry for the inconvenience if I have misinterpreted the rules somehow.

What overhaul are you referring to? I'm pretty certain Clutch haven't been on the Archives at least since I started using this site, which was around 2005/2006.

Hmm, strange...I know they were on here at least until 2010. Well it is just like Oceano, they were on here but now they have been taken off.

The buyers link was deleted, so for the guy that question me its name and localization, the name was simply "LD" and its supposedly localization is China.

Well, I understand the situation and restrictions of KP, but the foreigns that visit that country can get some things in the country, and its posible that some people could obtain this demo inside the country.

So for the internet restrictions, some foreigns says that in Pyongyang (supposedly localization of the band) there is a Cybercoffe (the unique in the country), and in this place is possible to enter to the web (i don't now if myspace is available)... the service is available since April 2010 (year that the myspace site was created)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mundo/noticias/201 ... e_aa.shtml

There is also internet in the university of Pyongyang (more monitored)
http://www.diariolibre.com/tecnologia/2 ... reana.html

check the profile of the band in this place http://www.metalkingdom.net/album/63127_demo_tape

It even has rating (82.5)
and Fleshgod (a Korean guy) says: Severely guryeoseo recording sounds well not seem to be somewhat proficient. Pyongyang foreigners like the resistance gaenjeokeuro playin think. (Translated)

Well, if you think that this band is fake and my copy (obtained only for 15 dollars) was lost money, say me and i will delete my draft, so if you think that the band is real, unblacklist it and i will submit, thanks for your atention. :)

Hi Guys, Mark Parry here.
I have registered and tried to add the UK/Finnish band Karhu to the database.
A message appears saying that a band called Karhu for UK is blacklisted.
As far as we are aware the band have not tried to register before.

Forum http://thekarhugroove.com/forum/index.php

Album http://karhu.bandcamp.com/

Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_9M3NqmqaI

Can you help me out on this one please.

According to the blacklist, it was deemed not metallic enough to be added to the site.

Yup, I keep finding more and more bands they were on this site and now they are not. Mnemic, Oceano and Clutch were all on this site and are now they are not. I don't get how I Declare War is on this site but Oceano isn't?

You sure about this? I'm sure Mnemic has never been on here, and yeah Clutch has been absent as long as I've been around as well (which is like seven or eight years), so it's a pretty safe bet that if they were included, it wasn't for long. And Oceano was one of those deathcore bands that slipped through the cracks and was dealt with when it was brought to the moderators attention, and if you don't understand why they're not acceptable for this site, then I'm afraid I really don't know what to tell you :p

Clutch are rock through and through. AFAIK their earlier stuff is a bit rougher and heavier, but still nothing I'd call metal. I know there's some confusing hybrids out there in the stoner genre, but Clutch are just so damn clear-cut for me.

According to HB, they really were on the site at some point and then got nuked, but it was definitely long before 2010.
